It definitely would have been had I not been at dinner.
What sets Teal apart from many players in this years draft pool is his kicking. It is often penetrating and to a teammates advantage, and forwards are always keen to lead to Teal when he is streaming from defence. He did not get to take many kickouts, but it is certainly a role he could do well at the next level and with Teal, a club will have confidence with the ball in his hands.
Speaking of confidence with ball in hand, that describes Teal to a t. He is often level-headed under pressure, and has made a few forwards look silly this year. He would sell some candy and move around them with ease, and then deliver well by hand or foot which is another great trait for a defender at the next level.
Consistency has been a big part of Teal’s game this year with his lowest tally of 15 disposals and highest of 20, showing how dependable he is and why his coaches and teammates really missed him in the opening rounds despite Oakleigh winning all its games. A club knows what it is getting with Teal, and clubs will be put at ease knowing this.
Teal is a diligent player who unlike many rebound defenders, will do his best to man up and beat his opponent. He often does well in nullifying a contest and backing up again to try and win the ball or tackle. Teal can also play on the wing with his height and skill a key combination of traits needed in the modern game.
Averaging almost 20 disposals a game for a defender is certainly nothing to sneeze at, but when comparing it to some other defenders available in the draft it could be a detractor, there are plenty of defenders that have played well this year who play very similar roles and are a similar size to Teal. One area Teal has also struggled at times is one on one contests against stronger opponents and some added strength could really help him play on a wider range of opponents at the next level.
Harry LemmeyIndeed you are
A question as I have looked back at the thread and can’t find the answer. What happened to hawks original pick 50? I see we traded 48,52 to dons for f2 as part of Davey bid but pick 50’just seems to have disappeared it should have come in several spots to mid 40sTo clear up what's happened with bids
Brisbane match Ashcroft at pick 2
Need 2014 points after discount
Picks 34, 35, 36, 38 = 2031 points
17 point surplus = pick 73 added (between Fremantle's and Sydney's 4th round selections, previously picks 75 and 76)
Essendon match Davey at pick 24
Need 588 points after discount
Picks 44 and 48 (previously 48 and 52) = 664 points
76 point surplus = pick 67 added between North and GC's 4th round picks (previously 70 and 71)
Brisbane match Fletcher at pick 25
Need 559 points after discount
Picks 51, 69, 72 = 327 points
Brisbane take 232 point deficit to 2023
Adelaide match bid on Michalaney at 35
Need 325 points after discount
Pick 45 (previously 46) = 347 points
22 point surplus = pick 72 added between Freo's 4th round and North's 5th round picks (previously 76 and 77)
All of this makes the remaining order

*Good chance I'm off by a pick here or there but that should be pretty close to right

On that basis can I pick for the hawks for that pick 50 then?Yeah good pickup. They should have picked before the Pies just then.

Is there an updated list of all the players selected ?Round 2

If we had the pick I would have taken Magor 100% and I would be upset if we didn’t under that scenario think he’s got great potentialWouldn't have really mattered, I think I'll pass from here on out.
Final Haul of:
Pick 7: Elijah Tsatas - Easily my preference for our pick. I'd even pick him with pick 1 over Cadman and Wardlaw. Fight me. He gets the ball, gets it in the danger zone and makes an impact. He oozes talent, brings a point of difference and mountains of upside. Our midfield group right now has some really premium bread-and-butter guys coming up, but we need to swing wide for a true superstar. For me, that's Tsatas.
Pick 27: Coby Burgiel - After not having any sliders (shocking on a fan board, I know) I've gone with high upside, the clean player who could turn out as a gun for us in our next golden window. Versatile enough to play everywhere at box hill and fill in as an injury replacement through the year, the cleanliness Coby shows when at full speed evokes quicksilver fighting the FBI. He even has the permanently blown-back hair.
Pick 41: Noah Long - This guy is Caleb Serong with rotten injury luck. I'm not even talking about soft tissue, ligament, or long-term injuries, just pure rotten luck. Hard nut at the contest, kicks goals as a smart, scrappy crumber, and has the athleticism to put his midfield craft to use. Hasn't put a foot wrong when he's out there, went into the year as a potential top-10 pick as a pure mid, added versatility as a forward, and showed up with some great results. It's these types of players you look back on in five years' time and think "why the hell did no one take a punt on him earlier?"
On the passed-up talent:
Vickery - If he comes through as a rookie/pre-season trainee I'm all for it, but I don't see the place for him in our side. We just let Downie go, I don't think another undersized, lightning-fast half-back flanker comes through the list. As a small defender, Tank and Seamus both are ahead of him in the pecking order at Box Hill, and neither of them is unseating Hardwick or CJ. Plenty of talent, but not someone I think we get the best out of. I know you never look a free talent in the mouth, but if we aren't playing him in his best position at Box Hill. happy to take him for free, but I'd let another club take the punt on him.
Lawrence - Again, if he's free I'd love him, but not bid on him in the national draft. Another case of a little lack of upside and opportunity at the club, he'd be behind Serong and Ramsden at least at Box Hill. I don't know exactly why, but he just doesn't pass my eye test.
The last player I would have taken was Lemmey, and he went just before the pick. It seems like a small haul, but remember we got the Bomber's future 2nd out of it, I'm pretty happy with the result. Go into the next midseason draft looking to pick the eyes out of whoever proves themselves from this micro draft-class's snubs and pick up a few more Newks and Blancks.
I've used the thread marks to keep a list. You can use reader mod to go through all the posts, but just keep clicking the elipses and you'll get the full list from the “Threadmark” drop down menu.
Is there an updated list of all the players selected ?
I don't hate Magor, but I'm unconvinced. He has plenty of physical tools, but his production is low and athleticism seems more “good for his age” than good for AFL level. The way I see it, I'd rather let a guy like that fall through the draft, spend half a year developing and playing their natural position at a club where they get that opportunity and pick the ones that go the best in the mid season draft. It's a better use of the list spots, there's so many players like Magor I would be hesitant to give a national draft contract too. If they get picked up as a rookie or through Box Hill, that's a different story. If we had the pick I would have taken Magor 100% and I would be upset if we didn’t under that scenario think he’s got great potential
Ah yeah, thought I tagged you in the earlier post.Is it my pick guys ? i think we are upto #48
