You're being ridiculous.
So they're bound by a inquiry to not say anything (of which the said inquiry has no legal power over them), but they refuse to speak to this inquiry?

Remember, the context is that they apparently really want to tell their truth but apparently can't. Now that's ridiculous.

Can't, and won't, are very different things.

The context is that the coaches are most likely following advice and that advice has served them very well so far, with remarkable levels of public goodwill considering where things were at in September.

The inquiry they're refusing to take part in??
Why would they take part in a restricted inquiry where the accusers get to write the rules?

There are three accusations in the ABC hit job,

1/ players had their phones taken off them
2/ players were asked not to see family members
3/ family planning was discussed - there was never a termination but it allegedly was discussed (demanded if you believe the article but it never happened)

The above events probably did occur. We don’t know.

The question that a full and proper enquiry would ask is were these actions warranted? And were these actions taken on racial grounds?

Why the coaches took these actions is the key to everything and that is why the players records are critical.

The accusers want no part in the "inquiry" and the accused have not been informed what the have allegedly been accused of.
Neither party have made any recorded statement to the "inquiry"

Is that an accurate summation?

I’d say the documents provide context.

If the accusers want reconciliation and the ability to move on from whatever the events were why are they objecting to the provision of documented evidence that would shed further light on the events?
I've always just presumed because it would contain medical information sensitive in nature that they aren't happy to share. Seems fair enough.

Fear that someone won't understand is his reason for not telling his version of events?

Why does anybody write anything down if this is the case?
Not fear that they won't understand. Fear he will be intentionally misquoted or partially quoted.
He says "people said 'I'm a racist'" and the media writes "Fagan: I'm a racist." They get the masses frothing, knowing none will read the article. His reputation is then ruined.

Let's remove ourselves from this particular story and use James Sicily as reference.
He said of tassie that "as a kid I wouldn't want to live there" referring to what he was like. He then went on to say "but now I'd love it."

The media went with the sound grab of "I wouldn't want to live there" and everyone lost their mind.

How many times are Clarkson and Fagan going to talk publicly about how they can’t talk publicly?

Never if the media stop asking the question.

Interesting Simpkin has signed long term and thrown his support behind Clarkson
Not particularly interesting. I don't think many believe that Clarko is some demonic figure that poses a current threat to indigenous players. The question is whether some of his past behaviour was coercive control over private lives that he shouldn't have been involved in.

Go back to grand final week and the headlines painted a totally different picture

Oh gee I don’t know
Maybe because unlike everyone who has posted on this topic over a combined 600 pages he may have an inkling what is going on

Why would Simpkin have an inkling of what is going on in an historical case with players he may not even know. Are you saying because he is Aboriginal he knows what has happened?

Who knows all the ins and outs?

Who knows every angle, each perspective, all reactions to events that transpired?

Who knows exactly how it has come to this disgusting mess?

All we can be sure of is, the Hawthorn Footy Club will continue to do all they can to avoid any blame and to slither away without consequences.

It's stomach churning really.

Why would he know what's going on, he wasn't there. Or do you think Aboriginal people share some mystical groupthink? They're people, like you and me. If he has a good relationship with Clarkson, that will inform his views, and has absolutely one fifth of **** all to do with whether Clarkson did what was alleged.
