Hawthorn v Richmond

How would you take a premiership hangover over no premiership at all then? By your reasoning the premiership wouldn’t be yours.

...as a fan its fairly obvious that I would prefer my team won a premiership than none at all.

You are trying too hard to save face. Letting it go and fading into obscurity works better.

current tigers squad would absolutely smash the hawks 3peat side. no one will remember the hawks 3peat in 20 years time as our 5peat will overshadow it completely

Team of the decade? Of course it's Hawthorn. They only missed finals like twice so far and been successful in just about all of em

Decades start from 2011. There was no year 0.
No it isn’t. It actually correct

And what makes this better is that it applies to centuries. So therefore Essendon 2000 is NOT and could never reasonably be seen as the team of the century - when compared to say Hawthorn 88 for example....
Count to ten.
Do you start off going 0,1,2,3 etc?

2010 was the start of the decade, even though 2001 was the start of the century.

If they go on from here and win a second premiership then there is a discussion to be had. With just the 1 premiership right now there's no point. So I'd save this thread til October if warranted.
Adelaide went back to back and they were a very ordinary team. Circumstances and context are important.

2000-2009 would be 10 years. Decades start 2010, 2000, 1990 etc. Centuries start 2001, 1901, 1801. Not sure why this is but that's how they're counted.
So why wasn't the Millenium celebrated on 31/12/00?

Wouldn't you wait until Richmond have actually won more than one flag before considering them team of the decade when comparing them to a team that has won three?

It's not like Richmond are so dominant this year it's a fait accompli.
OP is Essendon fan, going early is in their genes.

Adelaide went B2B finishing fourth with a 13-9 record in 1997 and then fifth with a 13-9 record in 1998. They were very ordinary indeed.

The year they beat West Coast. Didn’t they comfortably lose in Perth, recover to make the GF and then proceed to smash the Eagles in Melbourne? Results probably suggest they may have lost a prelim in Perth.

Hawthorn defeated Fremantle, the minor premiers, in Perth in a prelim.
