How do you fix Melbourne?

The very best of business and football people in the country would still take 3 years to turn Melbourne into an AFL standard football team. But they won't get any of those people.

They have to fire Neeld, it doesn't matter if it's only Round 2. If he has a game style I can't work it out. And he has destroyed a talented player in Jack Watts, who has regressed at a million miles an hour.

The only way to save this club is to have Neil 'get on the bikes' Craig take over.

Carlton 2002 to Round 2 2008:
28 wins 104 losses 2 draws 74.03% - Match/win% 21.64 - losses by 60 points or more: 30
Melbourne 2007 to Round 2 2013:
32 wins 100 losses 2 draws 75.32% - Match/win% 24.63 - losses by 60 points or more: 24

What did Carlton do?

What did Carlton do?

Got 3 consecutive #1 draft picks, the third of which was probably dodgy but the AFL looked the other way.

AFL couldn't outright *help* Carlton a la Sydney because of the salary cap cheating.

What did Carlton do?

Got draft picks and used them wisely. We got Watts, Trengove, Scully, Gysberts, Tapscott, Morton, Bate and a lot more dreadful players with high draft picks. We are struggling financially and have some of the worst staff in the league.

They got Gibbs, Murphy, Kruezer, let's not forget that Judd wanted to go there too.

They have one of the greatest coaches in the history of the game and have SHITLOADS of money.

Nathan Jones should move on, as he and Clark are the only senior players who have a dip. There's loyalty, then there's flushing your career down the toilet.

Please don't. There's only a few players I really go to watch right now. Nate Jones, Clark, Howe and Viney. They're it.

I feel awful for dees supporters, I mean, we suffered 119 but you guys, to cop it every week I can't even begin to understand your pain.

Neeld looks a shattered man, waited a good while to get his shot as a coach and his career is just about over before it even began. Problem is, if they sack him, who will take over? There isn't anyone decent on the market besides probably Choco.

Neeld has destroyed Jack Watts?? Looks the other way around to me.

Watts is a disgrace.
Yes, Watts has destroyed Neeld.

A half back flanker has destroyed the coach.

Were you one of the people out there calling him a 'Brighton ****ing prick'?

I'd expect so.

The more people abuse Jack Watts for personal reasons, the smaller the penis. :thumbsu:

Anyone know what members' rules for AFL clubs are with regard to calling an extraordinary general meeting?

Nothing will fix Melbourne except Time.

2007 - 3rd bottom
2008 - bottom
2009 - bottom
2010 - fifth bottom
2011 - fifth bottom (inc. 186)
2012 - third bottom (only GC and GWS below)
2013 - early but already appear hopelessly anchored to the bottom

Time is not helping. The Tigers, Power, Roos, Lions and Dogs have all had time to bottom out and come out the other side in this period.

Didn't Nate sign a contract not long ago? Anyhow I hope he stays for you, but I wouldn't. Move on Watts too, because he's a broken shell.

Jesus

Didn't realise they've been in the doghouse for that long.

Without a shadow of a doubt Schwabb and Cuddles (Connelly) need to go. They were a basket case at Freo.

Spot on, but the thing is according to Neeld:

I can't help but be impressed by Jack Grimes. Trengove I'm not sold on, but Grimes is fantastic with everything seemingly.

Grimes and Jones would be okay, or Grimes alone.

That is pretty damning reading.

The main issue for Melbourne at this point though has to be there is no one really out there who could fix them who is available, maybe see if Matthews fancies a challenge and whole shed load of money?
