Snap! Was thinking the exact same thought whilst catching up on my reading of the other threads this morning. The joint has gone a little twitchy and stir crazy of late  but we're nearly there, only 1 week to go now :D
You mean only 1 week to go and the real melting and pelting in game threads and autopsies can begin.

I hate the fact that Cloke is played at full forward, seriously the guy is useless at a close set shot. Lets play him back a bit, on the run outside 50 he backs himself every day and will slot it.

and if he misses, do what we would do with any other player, drop him to the VFL.

KB. I don't know if he is just a delusional old man, or one of Australias greatest trolls. It is clear he has an agenda with the Pies & Geelong, but surely, we don't need to be featured in 3 out of 5 opening statements EVERY WEEK!

WTF was that with Vickery's shot at goal in the 3rd qtr.
He had it forever & kept cribbing around.
When they step off the mark after it's been set, CALL PLAY ON!!

My vent this morning is about terrible supporters sitting directly behind you making completely ridiculous assessments of players and the game, only to change those assessments on a whim when said player does something positive.

I was fortunate enough that one of my bosses gave me 3 AFL reserve seat tickets, block N26 (City End, Forward 50) to last night's game. I went with two mates from work (one a massive Tiges fan, the other a Lions fan) and we were subjected to some of the worst, most obnoxious and generally unpleasant Pies supporters directly behind us for the first half. Second half we moved a couple of seats down but could still hear the peanut until he left, I think around 3/4 time.

Some of the absolute nuggets of footy gold last night from one peanut included:
- "I told you, Buckley's just not up to it. When we got rid of Mick, we should've appointed Ratten"
- Aish, after one touch in the first quarter, labelled a dud
- Continually slagged off Taylor Adams and Crisp and labelled duds as well (in my view, two of our best players from last year)
- Jordan De Goey - useless and not up to it in the first half
- Numerous calls of 'Captain Shit' whenever Cotchin got near it

There were numerous other contradictory and uninformed comments, passed off as 'footy knowledge', and it was a shame that so many around had to endure such an incessant tirade of abuse, particularly people like the guy next to us who was there supporting the Pies with his 8 year old son.

Overall it made for an incredibly frustrating viewing experience as it compounded what was a terribly scrappy and error-riddled game, from players and officials alike. Until last night I hadn't experienced Pies supporters who are so aggressive, cringeworthy and just plain wrong at the footy here; The only time I've had something similar was at the Punt Road End for the Elimination Final between North v Richmond, but I half expected that being at the Punt Road End in the standing area with a group of frustrated Tiges fans watching their team do what they do best

The only saving grace was that the main idiot left around 3/4 time, so wasn't there to get any joy from what was an otherwise pretty-joyless game unless you're a masochist. It literally felt like our Bigfooty game day thread was being played out in some twisted, bizarre, real-life stage-play adaptation.

I don't think many of the Terminally Miserable will be here today
Was watching all night for his around the ground work and although sitting 6 rows from the fence, didn't see it.
Was really hoping for some objectivity but then again this is BF.

Expecting to see a GRUNDY NEVER AGAIN THREAD! but disappointed as usual.
what by td, if that happened l would be very shocked.
in all serious except for the last 10 min thought cory was the better ruckman.
we I thought had 2 good talented ruckmen who are not there yet but close, but not sure now.

We have one potential at the moment but he gets so much criticism, not sure why.

people only want to see that there perception of reality is, l think both have a big role to play for us, but one is only going to get bag when the smallest of thing is done wrong. where the other has to be really bad to get criticized

I had a similar experience, (although it was opposition supporters) when we played the Saints in early 2010 and they flogged us.
Without being a drama hetro,( :) ) I was actually quite drained after the constant barrage.

It's understandable after the long recess, the ever more "expanded" hope induced equally by the "slight exaggeration" of the impact of new players and old alike and the expectations of a new start, a clean slate so to speak, that some are going to implode after the crap we dealt up last week.
That said, we id what had to last night and we can get back on a n even keel now with a few, more likely wins to come in the next few weeks.

my biggest problem now is how to convince the Chinese they should send a mission up to rescue my cat.
It's been up there since last weekend and it probably needs it's bum looked at.

Sounds a bit like this forum....

We desperately need a tackling coach. too often we got brushed aside like they were nothing. Tackle the hips and pin the arms! Why was every tackle aimed at the shoulders last night? Urrrrr!!!

Oh this actually happened?
In real life?
I just thought you were talking about BigFooty

We need to employ a BJJ coach to improve our tacking. Honestly, how many pharking times does Martin get away with that bloody normally high fend off. Just grab his arm and pull it towards you and fall back or push away from him and cannon into his chest. Or just Steven segal it and grab his wrist and push his elbow in the opposite direction. Was driving me mad. Like he was running around wth a bloody bayonet..

That's very witty, likes just for that

Martin is a beast when it comes to fend offs. A few players of ours could learn a lot from this tactic but it takes an arrogant w***er to have the audacity to try this move in the first place... No one on our list really strikes me as the type.

How many bosses do you have?

Until last night I hadn't experienced Pies supporters who are so aggressive, cringeworthy and just plain wrong at the footy here ...

I long ago came to the conclusion that wild rabid abuse of our own players / coaches / administrators by our own supporters is part of Collingwood's DNA. It's existed in an our own supporter base for at least as long as I've been following Collingwood. I don't think I have ever been to a live game and not seen it - and have even seen it in plenty of pub games.

One particular bloke who comes to mind seemed to treat the footy as a release for all that was wrong in his world. He made things mightily unpleasant for everybody around him. Including kids. I toyed with the idea of offering him to pay for proper psychological counselling if he just chilled TF out and enjoyed the footy like the rest of us. The bizarre thing about him was that during the breaks and at the end of the game he was just an everyday Joe. Wouldn't surprise me if he was completely oblivious to his own Jeckyll and Hyde behaviour.

We see aspects of it here on BigFooty too.

I've also been curious to see how the club handle this aspect of our 'culture'. I reckon they really struggle with it and have even put up a bit of a glass wall to protect themselves from it. I don't believe that's the correct response - they could do a better job of handling it.
