On the flooded (3rd) island Zeke shows you a "weapon" that deals with them with incredible ease. Almost laughable. (but you don't get to keep it)

The icemen enemys piss me off. They shoot off all over the place. Lightning blasts do nothing to them and grenades are wasted due to their movement.

Following possible (but not really) spoiler about a weapon upgrade which we've all probably seen...
The ice powers are a level 3 upgrade and they're shit to use. Apart from the shield like in the 1st game (which when equipped takes the spot of kinetic pulse/throwing cars power) the rest have not impressed me 1 bit.

Ionic storm is way better than ionic freeze as it covers a greater area and picks cars up along the way.
They're supposedly better so I'm still using them.... For now.

Also, the "blast shard sense" power will make collecting all the blast shards extremly easy as it will always show you the direction of the next closest shard.

My UGC mission has gone up to a 4 star rating after 20 plays by others.

yeah I like the weapon you use with Zeke on those ****ers. Shame you don't get a mini version for your belt ;)

Haven't got the ionic freeze yet, but it sounds a bit shite. I just love ionic storm so much

That's good about the blast shards, as they're so fun to collect already there won't be that epic frustration of 1 or 2 left and having to go back through them all to find them.

Also a bit disappointing I can't use a filter to find your UGC mission, SP might have to add a friends only option in there.

is anyone finding this not quite as MUST PLAY/CAN'T PUT DOWN as the first?

i've played like....3 smallish sessions since i got the game at launch and i'm not even close to beating it....roughly 15% in from memory.

the first i couldn't stop and smashed it in a few sittings.

The Beast is in New Marais, hit It with the
nuke - which did a lot!
and opened the last island. Must be getting close
Bout the same. I've done numerous side & a few main missions after that.

60 Side missions completed so I bought the Blast Shard Sense. I had 282 of 305 anyway but it helped getting the rest. Blast shard sense and the electrical tether made easy work of them.

Soon to be patched glitch where if you buy power upgrades in YOUR UGC mission it doesn't subtract the cost from your XP. Go to My Missions in the start menu and pause when you're playing YOUR mission, buy upgrade, exit mission.
I tried it in a random UGC mission and it still cost me. Playing all side missions will give you way more XP than needed so this isn't an issue but it's handy if you unlock a few powers at once. Then you can buy them all.

Bingo! It's the same old enjoyable inFAMOUS and it's still great, has some EPIC boss battles but........ It isn't gripping. Can't think of a better word for it & I know it's not a thriller/suspense type game but I found some of the missions in the first game more gripping than the majority I've played so far.
It does pick up at certain moments.

That said, the boss battles and even fighting the largest ICE creatures is absolutely cool. The ICE thing than you need to jump on, mash square to use your melee weapon to rip part of it's armour off & expose a weak point is awesome.

Just out of curiosity, am I the only one who, when told there's a HUGE battle between 2 different types of enemies just lets them fight it out a little bit??
I did the same in the first game. No way I was going to get right amongst it and cop it from all angles.
Last night, a side mission of corrupted & ice conduits popped up. I picked off a few from up high. In the end it was down to 1 massive ICE vs SWAMP creature battle. It was pretty cool to watch.

ok it took a lil while for me to get into it but i just had one of those "must play/can't put down" sessions then and now i have a bloody headache from playing for the last 6 hours :o

the game really started to pick up after my last session when i started earning some more powers and doing more of the side missions.
more enemy types were available to fight and some of the abilities you get are crazy awesome.
especially the ice booster pad mixed with the extra thrust you get....so sweet!

Played the demo and oh my this game is off it's head. Really liked the demo. I told myself I wasn't going to spend 100 dollars on games that I'm just going to be sick of in a couple of days but I might have to make an exception for this one.

Still $79 at JB hifi if you need retail, or online price above is great.

I finished my good playthrough last night including all side missions, weapon unlocks, blast shards etc. Just need 2 more dead drops. Unlocking Ionic storm is great.

A bit on enemies & boss battles..
I love fighting the "TITANS" (largest Ice enemy)
Weaken them til it prompts you to jump on them, mash square to rip part of their body off and expose a weak point, finish off.

Bertrand boss fight is epic.
The beast boss fight, not so epic.

Should finish up my evil playthrough in time for the UC3 Beta.

Had Little big planet and infamous on disc and also on my hdd from the welcome back package :o added resistance 2 and traded them 3 in for the special edition at jb hifi (weird that jb had the special edition in the trade deal, usually they dont include them, oh well my win :D)

Will finish the 1st before i play it though, what carries over from the first game to the second? any rewards for trophies gained?

I just finished my first playthrough of the game. Absolutely awesome, final battle was pretty crazy but not that difficult on Medium difficulty.

I still need to get a little more XP to unlock the Shard Detector power and then I will have all the powers as well as get the few remaining Shards.

I thought i was on hard to start with but soon realised it was medium by default( dont know why i didn't check) but it is a bit easy on medium difficulty, will change it for my evil playthrough.

Sitting on 34 story missions, about 200 shards and 20ish dead drops without going out of my way and looking.

yeh the game is fantastic!

i played the game through on hard and thought the entire game was very easy though.
i'm not even sure it's possible to die on that last boss?...at least that's how it felt to me.

i played it as a good guy but you can tell that playing as an evil prick would make the game even sweeter.

also by the time i got the blast shard detector thingo i only had about 15 to get and with the ice launching pad and the extra thrust i managed to get them all in a matter of minutes.

was so glad those repetitive boring climb building and find 15 bombs or whatever side missions were removed from this one. they were EASILY the worst thing about the first title imo.

Must be something you get used to as it didn't bother me to much.
The game certainly does pick up..

15 minutes in and I'm very unimpressed.

Cole's voice makes me want to blow my brains out and the camera gives me a headache.

i felt the exact same when i started.

he looks like a massive bogan just like dane swan (literally looks like him) and his voice is def sucky.
he has no real character that sets him apart anymore...:thumbsd:

the camera also felt way too close to me when i started but i got used to it pretty quickly and didn't even notice it after the start.

the game does get good though.....possibly goes a touch long for my liking but definitely a quality game.

Yea i think they missed the mark with the new Cole, the voice just didn't have that edge to it like the first cole did.

The camera never worried me at all.

I thought it felt shorter than the first one.

Finished the game the other night as the good guy, enjoyed the new powers, at first i wasn't to sure about having multiple powers the way they did it but was cool changing it up for dirrerent situations.
I will give it a run through as the evil cole soonish.

Good game but the first is still way better imo (although the first is one of my fav games on ps3), and when you start the game hit up hard diffulculty straight off the bat.

Did anyone have a crack at the user generated levels? had a go at a couple but they are not really worth it.

I played a fair few user created levels as I will be getting the Platinum for this game just because I enjoy playing it so much.

Some are rubbish but there are some pretty good ones out but unless you want the trophy it is a bit of a waste of time playing them.

So bitterly disappointed.

I've just met Nix. It feels like inF2 is Red Dead Redemption and inF1 was GTA4. Basically same controls and gameplay, but two completely different universes and main characters.

Even though it centred around a guy with superpowers, number 1 felt realistic while this just feels like they've tried to make it as supernatural as possible with enemies pulled straight from the end of a future Uncharted.

As I keep playing I just get more and more annoyed at New Cole, and its gotten to the stage where I view him as a seperate person to Old Cole.

I'll still go on and finish it and probably platinum it because it's still a decent game, but it's such a letdown compared to what I expected and hoped.
