Play Mj as a midfielder/ forward pocket, in 2005 he was one of our best players playing this pos, he is no longer a back pocket player.

McVeigh same as above, every time he goes forward he looks very dangerous and seems to kick goals more times then not

I said that at the very start of the year, his best position and the only position he'd be able to have a big impact on a game would be in the forward pocket, and it showed today when he was moved down there. As soon as we can get someone to replace him down in the back pocket the sooner he'll be permanently moved into the FP. Besides McVeigh, Welsh, MJ and Slatts, what other options do we have that could fill that postion of a small back pocket though?

Dude, I'm not bragging. Im just keeping people informed of his progress.

Everyone has their favourite players. Dyson is one of mine. And I dont give a shit what u think will happen to im at the end of the year, I'm still going to follow his progress closely, even if he does happen to be at anothe rclub.

who really cares how many touches he gets, when gets over over 25 then brag about him, he is a cork in the ocean and wont be on our list at the end of the year HACK HACK HACK

That's donsmans signature -- It is automatically put at the bottom of every one of his posts. :p

Yep agree! Mark is a great kick & if he plays forward pocket every game he will snag a couple of goals..

Well i have been the one that has probably lead the race as far as critising MJ goes so i have to say he did well today. The forward line is the one spot that does look his go now days. He does chase hard and he can provide a good target for a small bloke.:thumbsu:

You are a bit of a Tool , you asked for discusion and you got it. If you simply wanted everyone to agree why ask for discusion !

Great thread. I wanted him there pre season. He's got all the attributes to do well there and has shown it in the past. Reads the ball well, hard to tackle, keeps his feet, can take a mark and split a pack etc. Also rate him as our best shot for goal within 45m now that Lloyd has dropped off a bit in this regard. Plus we need a crumber as Monfries even when he plays well forward doesn't play as a crumber.

Nash and Rama, just to name 2. Lets not forget, there arent that many dominant "small" forwards anymore, so we dont really need more than one guy to cover that position.
I'd rather Nash play upfield around half back or midfield because he is a playmaker and such a fine user of the ball to be wasted in the back pocket. Do we really need Welsh up forward, or would he be better used in the the BP? As for Rama, im not sure if he could hold down BP.

Mark Johnson is a very good forward pocket, can take a good grab overhead, is strong in contested situations and is a pretty good kick for goal.
I agree he should be left there.

Agree that he looks dangerous in the forward line, so does mcveigh and welsh. The forward line is starting to get a bit crowded maybe

F Davey Lloyd Johnson

HF Welsh Lucas McVeigh

This side has no Jetta who will play in one of these spots
Gumby/Kepler/Hille/Laycock as our 3rd tall forward
Rama as another crumbing forward.

You can only have 6 - more than likely 5 in your forward structure now so something has to give.

It is starting to look good now that we have competition for places, this hasn't been the case for 18 months now.

I'd love to keep MJ down there permanently until Jetta is an every week player.

Don't anyone Pigeon-hole McVeigh as a forward either, extremely handy utility man, can do any job asked

I am not pidgeon holing him, just using the same logic for him as mark johnson. I think that mcveigh and welsh both look dangerous when playing forward thats why i put them there, just showing some options. McVeigh, like welsh can play pretty much anywhere on the ground (except ruck and FB)
