Its Time For Trigg To Resign.

Plus he could've avoided the suspension by resigning and moving to a job outside the AFL. I'm pretty sure the $50k wouldn't be enforceable either once he was outside the system.

For those that believe the story that Reid created the deal and structured and even sent it before notifying Trigg have never been involved in a business structure as this would not occur and didn't .
But there are many other great fairy tales been written if you enjoy those type of stories.
Look at all the lies we were told that now know were not true and now get spun another one.

There are two possibilities

1) Reid was a loose cannon and did it without Trigg's knowledge. If that is the case then Trigg has failed to adequately supervise his staff and should be sacked

2) Reid did it with Trigg's knowledge. If that's the case then Trigg should be sacked.

3) Reid and Trigg did it, the board had full knowledge. Trigg takes the bullet as the bad guy to help paint the club in a better light

So let me get this straight....

John Reid was the administrator who cut the deal with Tippett and the very moment Trigg read the deal and the agree, he rang Tippett management and rescinded the deal. However, in this hast he forgot to get that deal rescinded in writing. Really?

Trigg never had anything to do with the deal, didn't negotiate any side deal or trade agreement but took one for the team....what a stand up guy. He should be given a knighthood for taking one for the team without being involved or any guilt.

**** me this club is giving me the shits. I'm seriously considering not buying a membership next year and just watching every game on foxtel.

This club has no guts, no direction, no ambition or ability to fight for being the best. They are content with being mediocre and accepting that paradigm won't shift anytime soon.

If Trigg rescinded it because he was horrified, he would've notified the AFL.

It's irrelevant anyway - you can't back out of a deal when the other side has already fufilled their side of the bargain.

It'd be like you buying someone's house, you give them the cash then they go, "Nah, we changed our mind, and we aren't (in this case, can't) giving the cash back."

I think Carl's got it right, to be honest. My feeling is Trigg saw the details of Reid's deals, went "oh shit", tried to rescind the deal without doing anything official, then hoped like hell that it wouldn't be an issue. Either Tippett would stay, or he would request a trade to a club that would have a strong second-round pick and we could play it off as "well we had to accept it because otherwise the PSD, etc". Agreeing to trade him to Brisbane when he hadn't demanded to leave would have looked odd, and then people might have done some digging. So that option was out.

The instant that Tippett demanded a trade to Sydney, it must have been clear to him that shit was going to hit the fan. I don't understand why he took off overseas.

Just filling in facts for you, not here to argue:

His overseas trip for his 50th birthday was booked the year before. They'd had indications by this stage that Tippett would either sign with us (unlikely) or go home. As Trigg wasn't expecting the agreement to be an issue, he went as planned. He was already there when Tippett named Sydney.

Every time they mention Tippets name during a game in TV, it just makes me feel sick knowing we got sweet **** all for him.

I feel sick in the guts knowing one of our own was so stupid to do a deal that put us in such a negative place and how much we lost. That was so wrong.

As I've said before how can Trigg front the supporters he is supposed to be working for after what he has done?

His position is untenable

I know the Toumpas family, they desperately wanted him to be a Crow - everytime I see him struggling at Melbourne, I get pissed off that we threw away the only bargaining chip we had to try and get him.

He will say, he was trying to do what he thought was the best thing for the club but what happened was close to the stupidest thing I've seen in football.

Someone who asks or agrees to a get out of jail contract with a go to the club of their choice for a 2nd round pick, doesn't want to hang around any longer than he has to. It was the stupidity and pure arrogance of Trigg and co that got us in this mess and they need to pay.

I just get so angry knowing how ****ed we are.

i feel for Trigg because he copped a $50,000 fine. How many people could survive that? and presumably he's not paid while suspended? what would he be on $300k ish?? So if he's not paid that a $200k fine effectively. The dudes still got bills to pay!

Even if you scale it back for an above average salary of say $100k. Thats still probably the equivalent of a $30k fine. No way could people absorb that without significant pain.

I heard he was doing a "consulting" role with rivergum during his extended holiday, no doubt there would have been some sort of arrangement with them being a club sponsor to keep his pay coming in.

I've got to correct you, he will say he did nothing wrong, he still denied cheating after we pleaded guilty.

I guess that makes sense. I can see why him being overseas in that situation makes sense.

I still can't get over Tippett naming Sydney as his preferred choice. Surely, surely his manager would have advised him that he was almost certainly going to end up suspended for that?

I mean, I'm not trying to absolve Trigg or Reid here - they are guilty parties and we all realise that. But at least they were trying to avoid being caught out. Tippett basically revealed his hand on purpose.

That's the one good thing, sort of, someone at our club grew a pair and told them to get stuffed. I like that, but I don't like that we made a deal and then broke it - luckily, I believe the intent was to get him back to QLD, and when he said Sydney, all bets were off.

I thought we were actually trying to go through with it (the White medical) etc. until we realised that both our fans and the AFL were raising serious issues about the trades fairness?

My memory is Sando got back, interviewed White and went to Chapman about why we were doing the trade. Harper spilt the beans to Chapman who rang Trigg whilst he was in Singapore and told Trigg to see him when he got back. Trigg confessed to Chapman who went to the AFL. Or that might just be more bullshit.
