As accomodating as they were last year for Kelly you mean?

Amazing how people forget the past when the shoe is on the other foot.

The guy is a Coleman medalist in his prime. And some are unhappy the club needs to trade for a Coleman medalist who ignorred 17 other clubs and elected Geelong.

We don't have to trade for him as per the rules, your emotions are telling us we must trade. the rules say otherwise. Geelong did the right thing by PD, TK and now JC. PD was desperate to come home at earliest opportunity and was taking a discount, hence trade made sense. WCE on the other hand made TK's family endure 1 more year in Geelong by not valuing him right. Why did I mention JC u might ask? 'Cos we just made his family a shit load of $ by valuing him right. The annoyance he'd be feeling towards his ex club for not negotiating right is a big thing.

No really, a trade will be done, it's up to the clubs to determine what's fair compo.

Geelong will slightly overpay if need be because, as we all know, it's a terrible look to do everything you can to get a player and then pull out last minute because you don't want to pay the asking price...

Yeah we were told the same about Dangerfield, 2 top 10 picks and a player we were told...
Reality, unfortunately for you, is a fair bit different.

Generally agree...but Geelong is in no hurry...its no good having cap space if you dont have any players. GWS need players and cant wait too long to clear up the financials with respect to Cameron, otherwise there'll be no players left on the table.

Oh yeah, Kelly.

That the guy you jerked for a few years because you didn't rate him, then came cap in hand after we recognised a talent the you failed to see and cultivated it to the point he was one of the best going around?

Right.

Seems we are trading Tim Kelly again

GWS will have $1m tied up until the cameron trade is done. Will that cause them to miss out on a player and quicken their haste?

We always rated him, we just didn't expect Oscar Allen to still be available at 21, whom we would've taken at the pick we used on Brander because we rated Brander higher at the time, who we thought would be gone when we took him. This is why why we missed out on Kelly because we weren't expecting another team to take him before the pick we used on Ryan.

You mean like West Coast at the end of 2018 with Kelly?

Obviously didnt rate him if you rated those two higher,

We all know Geelong was never going to trade as he was under contract. Rawlings even mentioned that Geelong's demands changed a number of times.

Don't know why they just didn't say they were contending and didn't want to trade an A grade mid but I guess, at the time, they backed themselves in to change Kelly's mind about leaving.

Nothing wrong in making a player commit to a contract.

So you got your ratings wrong.

The difference being Geelong supporters are intelligent and make valid contributions.
Lol, this was literally the calibre of posting on our board:

"Three firsts MINIMUM, Wells is going to bend you over!!! hahahah!!!"

Let's not pretend supporters of ANY club are MENSA members.

Well, the fact we took Ainsworth over Worpel (Rawlings wanted Worpel FYI but was overruled) would seem to be yes.

We've always been very good at identifying talls but suck at drafting mids without high picks, something Wells is good at: see Duncan, Menegola, etc.

Thought we might have got away without having to deal with WCE posters this off season... Guess it's not too be

It all comes with the territory...

Look at it like this some supporters will be happy and smile and s****** ..we didn't get him as a FA..some may actually think beyond what we pay an not like the idea of Cameron at geelong for any price....

Id just wait till the final tally at the end of trading. to see who is laughing I guess..

Gee whiz, we had a flood of Geelong supporters last year in our Kelly thread and kept it open.

Have some testicular fortitude lad!

It will stay open...

to miss out on Weagle supporters walking out of the woodwork, still offended and walking funny from the lingering reaming you experienced last year is too good to be true....only confirmed by the fact that the only outside contributors to this thread are Eagle supporters.

That said...step out of line and you'll get a week off.

Time will tell. 18 year old talls vs a mature aged midfielder in his mid-20s. It's probably less that we got our ratings wrong but more that the recruitment team probably didn't expect to rate him so highly.

Mind you, I thought we'd have learnt after Jetta but apparently not...

But you only gave dkalphy a day off.

Are these bans compounding? ;)

In all honesty, a 80% Dangerfield at full forward will have the same output as Cameron. Geelong should have gone for B.Crouch and offered him $750-800K and save yourself $200-250K and all your 1st rounders given they are toward the mid to low end so GWS will be asking for all 3 or Parfitt and 2 1st rounders.
Crouch isn't worth anywhere near that
