Dude Geelong have stated many times that there must be a way to beat the system for us to stay high on the ladder, so here we are. Good on 'em I say. Just as long as JC and his family are up for the fight then let GWS have p12 and we can plough on and spin the wheel on a few draft picks.

I don’t think the club expected them to match, given they offered 150-200k less per year. Can’t blame Geelong, that’s outrageous on GWS’s behalf.

I don’t think Geelong view a 28 yr old free agent worth more than 12. Think we may have a tougher stance than we did with Danger

I think we were also happier to trade for Dangerfield as he was coming on under market value - Adelaide had a higher contract available to him, but he's focus was on returning to the region. There was also the knowledge that our first round pick was better than compo pick they'd get from the AFL, so both clubs acted as adults to get things done quickly & professionally

In the case of Cameron, GWS have put forward an offer that's 25% lower per year than he's previous deal (one that he ended up losing out on as it was renegotiated so they could re-sign other players), and it's an offer lower than we were willing to put forward for him. The grandstanding from GWS probably isn't helping the situation either; I know we see the odd statement in the media from Wells & co, but seems they prefer to do business behind closed doors

Have a look at how many Regional clubs (not big city clubs) there are in Victoria. Just one.

People keep saying it be we have. Delidio publically nominated geelong. Richmond wanted too much in a trade so Geelong had to pull out and delidio went to gws instead.

Delidio is not Cameron. Quality KPF’s are scarce. If Cats pull out of this after having Cameron in its sights for years we will lose face. A deal will has to be done.

For those who don't buy the sit out option, Geelong could so easily have stated to JC in negotiations, look it's 5 for 4.5 or 4 for 4.2, come to Geelong, build your dream home, you'll have a great family life here, just do all the session we give you, stay in shape and play X amount of games each year.

This is now a poker game, for Geelong to win and they could win big, will depend on how in lock step JC & GFC are. We could be breaking new ground with this one. From what I can gather (+gut feel) Geelong will not be as easily accommodating this time round.

It's not salt, it's amusement.

Average Cats fan last year: "Kelly is a gun and we developed him and they need to pay fair value which is 3000 picks"

Every group of fans is biased, it's still amusing when the bias is so obviously exposed

Reality is that Cameron is worth similar to Kelly. You guys now need to decide, as the Eagles did, whether it's a price worth paying. But arguing "it's different" is ultimately nonsense. In practical terms for the intended acquirer there isn't a lot of difference between uncontracted and RFA (especially if a team matches), and arguing he's not worth multiple high picks is, again, just amusing given the opposite arguments run by the same posters last time

Good luck with the trade, he's worth it for you guys IMO and you'll end up having swapped Kelly for Cameron. Which is probably a wash.
