No VFL Magpies at all in the team of the century, just taking the piss now, Martin surely had to be in that.
Yeah, however it's pretty silly that an AFL listed player is ineligible for team of the year, but eligible to win best in the comp. Should just make it both or none IMO.AFL listed players can't be selected in the team of the year.
13 players in the team of the year between Port Melbourne and Williamstown seems a bit over the top (even allowing for the restriction on AFL listed players being selected). Surely they didn't dominate the competition that much.Yeah, however it's pretty silly that an AFL listed player is ineligible for team of the year, but eligible to win best in the comp. Who won the Morrish? Don't they usually do that on Liston night too?
No doubt whatsoever. In the last 10 years, 15 players have won the Morrish Medal (4 way tie in 2013, 2 way tie in 2010 and 2 way tie in 2008). Of the 15, 5 have played or currently play AFL. Those players being Matthew Bate, Matthew Kreuzer, Nick Graham, Jarryd Blair and Dyson Heppell. Heppell probably the only guy who has won it since 2000 to become more than a B-grader.Some midget who won't get drafted, no doubt.
Add 3 from Coburg and that's about 75% of the team made up from 3 clubs.13 players in the team of the year between Port Melbourne and Williamstown seems a bit over the top (even allowing for the restriction on AFL listed players being selected). And Coburg came 14th! Still, probably a complete coincidence that those 3 clubs are stand-alone clubs!!Add 3 from Coburg and that's about 75% of the team made up from 3 clubs.

Hawks have copped some injury. Amazing how they've kept themselves at the top over the years.
Actually we picked up Adams, Broomhead, Kennedy and Scharenberg. (Grundy and Freeman were our initial picks I believe)By picking up decent recycled players like Gibson, Gunston, Lake, Burgoyne, Hale, McEvoy.
Where we picked up Russell, Hudson, Young, White, Lynch.
Some food for thought for those who say Scharenberg is finished/won't become something after one ACL...

We traded for kids, where as the top sides traded for mature aged players, hardly any of those Hawks players were free agents (Lake maybe?).
Wonder if they have a "Free Alex Woodward" thread on the Hawks board?Woodward has barely played at AFL Level yet though

Well the bloke picking those is still there and might ad to that woeful experienced recruiting list.By picking up decent recycled players like Gibson, Gunston, Lake, Burgoyne, Hale, McEvoy.

I have faith Scharenberg will be a gun but you he wont be as good as he couldve been if he didnt tear it at all. Will be 5% - 10 % off he could've been without tearing one. That applies with all ACL injured players.Neither has Scharenberg. What's your point?
