Jordan Russell will join North Melbourne as Assistant Coach for the 2021 season and beyond, taking responsibility of the club’s midfield group.

Russell brings five years of experience in development coaching roles at the Western Bulldogs, before he was promoted to assistant coach for the 2019 season. He moved into a midfield coaching role in 2020.

North GM football Brady Rawlings said Russell is an exciting appointment for the club.

“Jordan has numerous years’ experience in a range of roles, which is really attractive to us,” Rawlings said.

“His strong character along with his experience from a playing and coaching perspective will be invaluable in helping us build on our talented list.
“He is a natural leader and he will be a great asset to our coaching group.”

Russell played 125 AFL games for Carlton and Collingwood from 2005-2013, before transitioning to Footscray in the VFL as a player and development coach.

He featured in the club’s 2014 and 2016 VFL Premierships, as captain in 2016 and on-field captain in the 2014 Grand Final.

i hear Jordan Russell has been offered a coaching position at NM, in charge of the midfield.

he was supposed to be coaching Footscray in the VFL next year, but will most likely accept the position at NM

he will be a great addition to the coaching panel.

Heard it here first ^^

We’d be the only club without a vfl coach and it’s December

plus a lack of vfl players recruited/signed for next year which means we will be stuck mainly with teenagers who weren’t selected in the draft next week
About 50 AFL assistant coaches got the ass.

Do you know this for a fact? 10 Vic clubs, I'm guessing a couple of others might've punted their equivalents of Sexy Loader but not sure.

Not too concerned with our VFL list. After the draft we can look at targeting some players who can help forge a decent VFL unit based on their position or leadership.

Would hope decent characters like Tom Murphy are considered in this scenario.

Hey KC - let JZ have this.

He’s lost without Jmac to bag

Serious question though. The DFA period isn't over for another two weeks and the draft hasn't occurred, so why would you expect our VFL side to have completed most of its recruitment?
We haven’t even announced 1

And players previously signed ala Tom McKenzie, toby pink have signed elsewhere
