I read that they were going to patch co-op into the game at a later date. Is that even possible and is it still on the cards?

Killzone 2 blow-out December 4th

Put it in your diaries folks. Next Thursday will mark the end of a Killzone 2 single-player embargo. The dams will break on the 4th December.

Yes, the game doesn’t release until February next year, but after a successful online multiplayer beta, which ends this Sunday, Sony is keen to reward gamers with another peak at the game's single-player campaign.

Now out of pre-alpha build, you’ll get an extended glimpse at an updated build of previously seen levels, but you'll also experience completely new environments. And even, a new boss fight. Imagine that.

We’ve just gone live with our Killzone 2 hands-on, and next week we'll be able to bring you more goodies here at Gamezine.co.uk.

I believe it would be possible to implement via DLC / Patch

Gears 1 had (for example) had new game modes patched into the MP, so I don't see why co-op couldn't be included later

Midori my man, do you predict that K2 will shift consoles?
It looks freaking amazing!
Look at this for example:

It looks like it's being run on a high-end PC, and run well mind you (GTAIV).

I've been following its progress on the 1up show (they have the videos in high quality).

No doubt it looks amazing...... the heavenly sword/gollum motion capture tech they're using looks to be what the status quo is going to be in the future.

but from a sales perspective, I'm not sure how well it'll do.

Their big titles LBP and Resistance 2 are struggling....although this is one of the most crowded holiday schedules in living memory!!!

It depends on the ability of Sony to deliver a big pricecut (at least US $100 bucks imo) and how well they market it I guess....

apparently Sony are moving to a 65nm cell cpu process and blue laser diodes are dropping in price.....but the Strong Yen may be cancelling it out >,>

very bad timing indeed

also its getting alot of hype on the internet....but mainstream?

1) Please explain? Does this mean that PS3's will be upgraded, similar to buying a new motherboard in a PC?

2) All they need to do is show some TV adverts. I've only seen the Resistance 2 advertisement once and I have only seen LBP advertisements on bus stops. A well made ad could convert PC gamers because the graphics are so good and the gameplay matches.
Far Cry 2 for example - I saw that ad countless times on TV and all my mates saw it and begun talking about it. Sure enough they all bought it and by the word of mouth, it just kept spreading and now I know like 20 people who own it.
Killzone 2 will already have a big fanbase from the PS2 days. It did go platinum and the PS2 fanbase was huge. This is something that the Resistance series and LBP never had.

btw, I just looked at more updated estimates at vgchartz..... LBP seems to have some decent legs...... kinda like a Nintendo game..... sales not spectacular but they've been constant for a few weeks....... going to break a million soon so thats positive news.

as for your question

As cpu technology improves, engineers are constantly finding ways to minaturise the die sizes. ie: fit the same amount of transistors into smaller spaces.

When the PS3 was released, cpu die sizes was at a 90nm (nanometre) process ......and I made a mistake before, they've already moved to a 65nm process and are scheduled to move to a 45nm process in early 2009....surprise surprise...around when Killzone 2 is going to be released.

To put it simply, smaller = easier to cool and cheaper to produce.

A smaller cpu die size will probably come with a slight redesign in the motherboard as there is less power (electrical) and less cooling needed but there is no change in game performance like an upgraded pc.

How do you know Resistance 2 is struggling? If your deciding this on the UK charts, that was simply because it was out 2 days.

Resistance 2 currently sits 2nd on the PS3 game sales, behind COD5.

Also as I have stated before, LBP must be doing well enough for Sony, as they have reportedly signed Media Molecule to a 3 game exclusive deal.

The R2 ad is amazing, if I didn't have the game I would be rushing out to buy it, but like you I have only seen it once, EDIT: MAKE THAT TWO!

Although Sony did put out a 4 page ad in a UK paper, that was awesome too, had the headline "AMERICA UNDER ATTACK!" on the front page, would've made so many people shit themselves, and no doubt buy the publication, and then even consider the game.

The PS3's biggest hurdle isnt' getting a 'system-selling' game, it has plenty of those.

The system is too expensive for the US peasantry to buy in mass numbers, unlike the Xbox.

A lot of people buy their console just for Madden.

I think some of you owe me an apology.
Just me I think.

Kerrby, I apologise for criticising the greatest console game of all time.

Check out the new HD videos they've put up on gametrailers.

Good Lord!

I still maintain my initial stance, until I've actually played it.

I went on record saying it will be the best looking game out when it arrives (I think that looks like a safe bet) but that I'm not sold on the gameplay...

We'll soon find out (and I can't wait).

online in general...

Spamfest half the time...

Not really...

Have you played CoD:WaW? People usually avoid getting into a tank. It draws so much attention. If the enemy gets a radar or you start shooting like a mad-man, prepare yourself for a barrage of rockets, grenades and C4.

I thought vehicles worked quite well in the Halo series as well. Even vehicles it the UT series were good. Actually UT perfected it. There were modes with vehicles and modes without vehicles.
