I love how you guys both jump on Killzone for being "Generic", when for the IGN reviews Killzone 2 comes up even with Halo 3, score-wise.

Hey, Halo 3 is fairly generic. Though it kind of made it's genre. I'm just talking about the horrible name. Killzone. It's terrible.

It made it's genre? More like Doom and Wolfenstein did, and in terms of multiplayer Goldeneye and Perfect Dark(And the Quake's) did there, don't get me wrong I'm sure Halo is a fantastic entry in the genre, but I don't think it is absolutely ground-breaking either.

I thought it would be impossible to make one of those Hitler videos that wasn't funny.
Did you really not like it? Even the first video which is just him ranting about it?

WOW!

My bad. I just saw it then, must have missed it.
My R2 set up is identical to CoD4.

To answer your question in the other thread....I had only borrowed CoD4, but I ended up having it for about 6 months. When my brothers mate finally asked for it back I was so pissed because I thought he had forgotten about it. :thumbsd:

The reviews make it sound like the first reviews for Halo 3 actually.

Not sure if KZ2 will have the multiplayer to save it though.

I guess I'm just one who unless it is unplayable(Which 90% it's fine for me) I don't really care much about control scheme's, like I complained about F.E.A.R. 2's controls but realised that there the same as Turok's which I had no problems with, it is just a matter of having enough time to learn the controls and feel good with them.

But I can see why people want it their own ways.

Had that happen a few times, I'm sure it's fairly cheap now though, I'd still pick it up if I were you.

Yet all the reviews say it does, honestly, the online looks awesome, class based systems, badges intricate clan detailing, internet support, the gunfights look ultra-real, and best of all BOTS! How can you not love Bots, there is really nothing it can do wrong as long as the maps are good and the gameplay from the story is carried over.

HBK, don't feed the troll. He used to laugh at the fact people thought Killzone 2 would be good. Now he knows it will be good, so all he brings up is multiplayer even though it's been shown that Multiplayer will be something special.

Save it? The multiplayer is the game. It's been in playable form and optimized and tweaked for years now at GG. The single player campaign will be good for a few goes through, but this is all about getting online and shooting up a ton of ISA fools.

Sony planning a web game in their advertising for Killzone 2(What ya think Midori?).

SONY PLANS WEB GAME IN MARKETING PUSH
A Killzone 2 casual web game is to be launched as a part of Sony’s £2 million marketing campaign.

The game will be available to download for Firefox and Internet Explorer users, and invites players to fight in teams against the ‘Helghast threat’

“We're very excited about our online campaign,” says Killzone 2’s UK product manager Phil Lynch.

“What we're attempting has never - to my knowledge - been done before, certainly as a piece of communication. In essence, we're creating a web game based on a Firefox and IE app that consumers can download to their computer, and where they can then create their squad consisting of up to three additional friends.

“Once running and activated, and when the user is browsing the internet, their screen will be ‘attacked’ by Helghast as they browse pages. They can alert their squad members to come and help them and if the team can collaboratively vanquish the Helghast threat, they'll get their score posted onto the leaderboard and be in with a chance to win some prizes and unlock additional content. It's very innovative and something that I believe will resonate with our consumers.”

Sounds like a good bit of fun, but once again I must shake my head at the marketing strategy of Sony.

Basically, if you're a frequent internet user and gaming fan, then chances are you already know about KZ2 and have formed an opinion about it.

It's the more casual gamer demographic Sony should be failing. This is why LBP initially had such poor sales, because they relied on the internet for marketing, as opposed to more traditional forms such as television.

I know people who don't really understand how broad the internet can be and don't realise that alot of information can be found out about gaming from there. However, if they see a TV ad for a game that looks good and appeals to them (usually FPS) they'll go out and buy it in a heartbeat.

Did you miss this part? "A Killzone 2 casual web game is to be launched as a part of Sony’s £2 million marketing campaign."

Do you think they'd be spending $4.5mil on a little web game?

My theory on what their advertising campaign will entail is, they will launch this game first off, then have a bunch of teaser ads on TV(Cheapish 30 sec ads) which gets people asking what this is, they search for it on Google, this game comes up, they download and play it, they either like it or not, and they'll buy the game because of it.

There wouldn't be a huge amount that will buy a game based on a TV ad or on very little information of the game, as people here have told us(Halo Wars) they like to do their research before buying a game so they know they aren't buying something that was falsely advertised, so most likely wouldn't buy it based on something as small as a TV ad.

As well as the TV ads, have some billboards and some smartly made Radio ads, and go hell for leather in about the 2-3 weeks leading up and for a month or two after release.

Well, I bet it wont have its own soft drink....
Nah MGS is the only one really worth that honour.

Wouldn't mind some Booty Sweat featured in the game though.

A little obtuse there H. I believe it's acknowledged that Halo made it's own little sub-genre, with the high jumping, fast movement, recharging shield/hitpoints, etc. I'm no expert though, I guess Unreal may have been similar.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to.
Oops, I thought you were talking about that MGS ad in which Snake was holding the can of drink.

Killzone 2 marketting done right.

Superbowl ad.
That's absolutely amazing marketing, I've read that the ad costs US$3mil for just 30 seconds of ad space, but then again it is a well known fact that everyone stays to watch the Superbowl ads(Companies always come up with specialty ads, etc.) and the Superbowl is one of the most watched telecast's in the American calender.

Just brilliant work by Sony, they obviously have gone all out for Killzone 2 and realise this could be the make or break game, anyone who doesn't commend them for this is just stupid.

This is most likely the ad to go to air, specially made for the Superbowl(As per all the references), it is approx. 52 seconds:

EDIT: Should just mention this is not 100% official though.

That'd air before the Superbowl, if it's real, imo. Too long at 52 seconds, no way are Sony spending $6 million to show that ad.
