That'd air before the Superbowl, if it's real, imo. Too long at 52 seconds, no way are Sony spending $6 million to show that ad.
Although they might not spend $6mil to show the entire 52 second ad during the Superbowl, it would probably pay itself off even if they did, do you know how much Superbowl ads are watched, many, many people literally tune in just for the ads.

I definitely hope they do have a Superbowl ad, just not that one though.
Because it's 52 seconds(Therefore probably wouldn't be during the telecast, more like before or after) or because you don't think the ad is good?

52 seconds long is weird, but it could be cut down to 30 to air during the Superbowl and still have all of the NFL stuff in it they are trying to do. I really don't like it though, it just isn't good enough to be Sony's big showcase ad for Killzone 2.

Yeah its looks pretty average tbh... Don't get me wrong, the game looks like it will be great, just not well captured in that ad IMO.
I agree it's nothing fantastic, but the main aim is to get it out there and to get people talking about it and most importantly get people to want to know more about it and then buy it, so for a 52 second ad with restrictions on how much violence they can show(Remember this is a sports game, it's got to be family rated) they do enough to get people's interest.

I quite like it. Could easily be chopped down to 30 seconds as well.

Yeah, you'd think if you're putting an ad on during the superbowl, you'd make it the best it possibly could be. That's pretty underwhelming though, surely they could've done more to show off how good the game looks.

From that ad, it looks no different than any other FPS.

Don't think it'll win any Canne awards

Looks like some Japanese guy has just gone on wikipedia for some random gridiron references.

They could have showed some footage from the first person perspective.

Is it just me or can you guys see a noticeable delay in the physics?
eg. when a helghast soldier is shot, it takes a while for the reaction.

GAMINGHEAVEN KILLZONE 2 REVIEW
Here are a plethora of options both for novices and experts which will ensure that people are hooked on the multiplayer component for many many months. The multiplayer aspect is split into two sections: Skirmish and Warzone. Skirmish is the offline part of multiplayer and is effectively a practice arena where you can take on up to 15 bots in matches. You get to choose all your options and pit your wits against the bots, who will react to you based on the difficulty level you selected beforehand - these all work in the same manner as single player and should cater for any skill level.

Modes include Capture and Hold (zone based mode), Body Count (Team Deatchmatch) and Search and Retrieve (Capture the flag),Assassination is a fun mode as it tags one player for death and to score points he has to avoid being killed by the others. Search and Destroy puts one team in a position of trying to blow up a location with two explosives before time runs out while the other side have to defend the target and defuse any active explosives.

Warzone is my favourite as the objectives constantly change to keep the player hooked. You start out as a soldier who can equip a limited number of weapons with very little else at hand. Everything you do, from placing a bomb to helping hold a checkpoint earns you points. The more you play the more points you earn and if your side wins a round you get a 1.5x multiplier for your points. These all go into a pool to earn you ranks, out of 12. You can progress from private to General, once you get to 2,800 points of online gaming. As well as these main ranks you can unlock more player classes, each of which has its own special abilities and bonuses. I really dont want to detail everything as a lot of the enjoyment from this comes from actually playing it and learning the additional classes.

There are 8 maps selected for multiplayer and they are designed to create as much chaos and frenetic combat as possible online. If you couple this with the fact that you can have 32 players in one round (bots can make up the numbers) then you begin to get the idea! Helping out a little is the squad feature which allows a single player to be a leader for his particular squad. This means that all members get a dedicated communication channel for tactics. It also means that players in a group respawn back on the Squad Leaders position providing instant reinforcements to a particular position such as when playing Capture and Hold. Its a great concept I am surprised never to have seen before.

SCORE:
Gameplay 94 - The AI makes for an amazing experience, and multiplayer has been extremely well executed.

Graphics 95 - It only loses a few points for the fact that it pages sometimes from the disc which causes hitches. Apart from a few lower resolution textures, they are the best I can remember on the PS3.

Sound 92 - Full 7:1 sound and diverse and detailed ambient sounds make this a fantastic experience.

Value 97 - Single player is a good 10 hour experience and multiplayer will easily last for months.

Overall
96 - A classic which will go down in the history books as one of the greatest Playstation 3 games of all time.

I'm surprised he's never seen it before either. He never played a Battlefield game? Calls himself a video games journalist? Probably never played an FPS on a PC before.

Only 8 maps? That'll get old quickly.

Doesn't really bring his journalism into any kind of disrepute, he could be a console gamer, not a PC gamer, that doesn't mean he is any less of a gamer.

Hat being said I am suprised he hadn't seen it, because as I said it was a main feature in Resistance: Fall Of Man, but TBH I haven't seen it much before in a game either.

You can't really say that unless you've played them, plus they it could be 8 maps that can vary in size, and there will be DLC that will come out not too long after release that is all but confirmed, and honestly if their the best maps you can have, it wouldn't matter if there were only 2 of them, quality>quantity remember.

Standard feature of Battlefield Bad company too. Console game

You can respawn on the squad or the base, it gives you the choice.

EU, I'm assuming AUS aswell, demo coming on Friday:

Sony has said that the European Killzone 2 playable demo will be made available through the PlayStation Store this Thursday, 5th February.
The demo consists of the first two sections of Corinth River, which is the first proper level of the game, so you'll finally get to run through the beach landing and warehouse sequence that's formed the basis of so many previews.
There's also a tutorial - the same one that features in the main game.

From Eurogamer.

Either way you'll be able to get it from some PS Store.

And AWWWWW YEAH!!!:D:D:D:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

I think I'll have to play this, I've seen enough videos of the opening for that not to be ruined by now anyway, so it won't be ruining the experience at all.

Funniest thing is that someone actually made an article about how US Pre-order customers could only get the demo(Which was true, they got to play it from Feb.2), and the article was all about how Sony shot themselves in the foot because nobody outside of pre-orderers would be able to play the game(Because you've already got pre-order customers in on the game if they are pre-ordering it) even if they liked it the look of the game, and that was even after there were announcements that there would be a playable demo for everyone, so what a douche!
