Geez, you'd think they'd fix the network issues before releasing any DLC.
I'm going to have to agree with you for once.

I'm god damned livid that they have taken so long to fix it. It's such an awesome game, yet I can't bloody play it.

If this patch does nothing, i'm seriously thinking of trading it in.

If only you could read.

"If all goes to plan the patch will be out on the 22nd of April"

DLC is to be released on the 30th, this isn't Epic and Gears 2.;)

Has there really been that many network issues at all since the previous patch anyway? There was ROUTINE MAINTENANCE last night(Every online game has it), it just so happens that it tends to fall at the worst time for Aus users.

Yeah, but they haven't done shit for the last couple of weeks except jam their DLC down our throats. They should have released a patch in that time.

I think the last patch made the stability worse, because I never had any issues up until it.

To be fair GG/Sony haven't really done anything big in terms of advertising it, all they did was announce it and then give out a bit of news/info, basically that is it though, it is mainly media that blow everything up and report it as a bit more than they should.

At least the patch will come before the DLC.

was reading the ops magazine and its talking about online and it says "there will be dlc - more maps and the ability to use vehicles."
is this news or am i just way behind the times.

Honestly I don't see vehicles ever being included without major changing up and expanding of the maps, unless it would be vehicles for new maps, but then it might be a bit useless.

BTW it is sort of new, sort of not, vehicles have been mentioned before, but so has co-op and nothing eventuated there.

the few days after the last patch were perfect - no issues at all

then sony released 2.70 and the game went to shit again - right around the time GG had the servers down for more routine maintenance ( they do a hell of a lot of this for not much result ) so not sure if it was a sony or gg issue

i must say that recently ( i havent played in about a week ) the game has been a lot more stable for me and my previous issues are well documented arent they kerrby ;)

it is a bloody major letdown though how hyped the game was and how good it could have been - to be constantly ruined by something that should be so easy to fix

death lag was back last time i played too

only ever heard rumours by people wanting it though, the way it is said is as if it is def going to happen.
and grrofunger ive only ever had it drop out on me twice the whole time ive had the game, check your provider or something mate.

Yeah, problem is, we had articles confirming co-op would be added through DLC without any actual official confirmation, so really, unless it comes from the mouth of Sony or GG, it isn't happening.

God that pisses me off.

Exploit - Tharsis Depot - Player can get out of the "normal" play area and can get into some sniper/camp spots

Finally! Tharsis Depot will become playable again.

New ranks are great, but I'm happy to finally see these map glitches fixed.

The majority of network stabilising will come in maintenance, not patch work from now on.

Also, didn't you mention something about getting a new modem/router? Maybe I'd be looking at that first before blaming GG.

That could be the case, but my new router has better specs than my older one and I can play R:FoM and R2 without any problems at all.

I got my router before the last patch as well and it was perfect. Maybe it's an issue with 2.70 or the last patch?

I must admit, that's one of the best patches i've ever seen for a game. Now there's way more incentive to keep playing and playing.

Maybe, I just had a couple of games then, no issues, same as last time I played(re no death lag), though it connected to online/Warzone WAY faster than usual, the only issue I have is that I tend to not have a ranking high enough to join too many of the games.

So really, I have no idea, maybe start a thread on the GG forums?

I apologise GG.

The trouble is on my end, or more specifically my shiny new router.

I typed 'DG834PN PS3' into google and I was overwhelmed with complaints from PS3 owners using this router.

I checked out the netgear forums and found this.

It turns out that the bluetooth signal from the PS3 controller results in massive packet losses in the wireless signal. The solution - play your PS3 with the controller plugged into the USB port.

I tried it just a minute ago and I got into a KZ2 server straight away with no issues to speak of.

Who would of thought that a pissy little controller signal could result in something so big?

Also, I have to give credit to Insomniac games. Both the Resistance games ran flawlessly with all of these issues going on. They know how to make a good netcode - you could probably play R:FoM with dial up.

I have a huge cord which came with the HDMI cable I got, so it won't be too much of a pain in the ass playing with it plugged in.

I might be able to play in the clan event tonight, depending on how long the F1 GP goes for.

Happiness personified.

Hmmm, somehow I told you so just doesn't quite cut it.;):p

BTW the bluetooth signals do tend to mix strangely, I usually have issues if I have my headset on and then take the cable out of the controller, just doesn't sync.

I bit the bullet again and went and bought another router.

Wasted $$$ :(

Anyway, the patch should be live at 6:00pm tomorrow. It's more like DLC than a patch...there's so many great looking features and add-ons coming with it. :thumbsu:

Wasn't it working ok on Sunday?

Can't wait to see what these new 'hardcore' ranks are, hopefully they are fairly hard to attain, so as to keep people playing for plenty of time.

Tech stuff...

802.11b and 802.11g use the 2.4 GHz ISM band, operating in the United States under Part 15 of the US Federal Communications Commission Rules and Regulations. Because of this choice of frequency band, 802.11b and g equipment may occasionally suffer interference from microwave ovens, cordless telephones and Bluetooth devices. Both 802.11 and Bluetooth control their interference and susceptibility to interference by using spread spectrum modulation. Bluetooth uses a frequency hopping spread spectrum signaling method (FHSS) while 802.11b/g use the direct sequence spread spectrum signaling (DSSS) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) methods respectively.

The new 802.11N routers are supposed to go up to 5GHZ so may get round this issue.

From the Playstation Blog:

In a continuing effort to provide support for Killzone 2 Online, and to show you day-1 fans of Killzone that we mean business, we are very happy to announce the upcoming 1.24 patch. This patch is the biggest one yet, and addresses a large number of reported issues, exploits and bugs - but it also adds new functionality to the game for you to enjoy! I would like to highlight the fact that we are adding 3 new ranks to the game, reached at 5000, 10000 and 100000 points respectively. These ranks do not give any rewards but it allows the real hardcore players to show off their hard work to everyone in-game! Other highlights include a new 17-24 player search game filter, enlarged HUD radar distance and a much requested “Join Clan Member” tab in the join game screen. The patch also allows you to play against the next batch of contenders: Japan, who will be able to buy their copies of Killzone 2 on the 23rd of April and will be joining the community online.

Today we can also confirm that “Steel & Titanium Pack” will be available on the PlayStation Store next week (April 30th) for $5.99.

Little bit more $ than I was expecting for this map pack, but as long as I have enough funds on my account I'll grab it.

$5.99 is fairly reasonable i thought. Happy to cough up my dough for the new maps :thumbsu:

Finally creeping back to a 1:1 KD ratio (i'm starting to care about it, how sad).

But i was as low as 0.61 after about 2 weeks of playing it so i'm glad i've managed to get better. Saboteur ftw!

Saboteur ftw!
Same here.

I remember tripping over your C4 a few times the other night.

One kill in particular sticks in my mind....
I was running up a staircase when all of a sudden you appeared at the top. I quickly blew your head off, which was the biggest fluke ever. I ended up walking to the top of the stairs and *C4 boom*, we were both rolling around of the ground critically wounded.

I'm running around as a Saboteur as well, with the repair and hack secondary badge. I have all class based badges except the air support. My profile page with all of the ribbons is starting to look impressive.
