Darling's contract wouldn't even be in the top 3 worst.

Zac Williams on 900,000 for 6 years is horrendous.

If Darling is playing games he has a fair bit of value, plus is rarely injured.

I wouldn't have it as one of the worst contracts in the league.

Fanta Pants was on 6PR this morning and was saying McDonald has re-signed with Sydney

Thank you for this wonderful news.

Was anything said in regards to the length?

McGovern the Eagles variety isnt looking too flash atm either.

Least he earned the pay rise. Been injured and unfit since.

Interesting that you comment about McGovern being unfit.

I made the observation that Rioli (family genes of being very rolly polly Rioli), looked to be in fine nick, very trim. Massive tick from me.

NicNat and McGovern, must have skipped the fitness sessions, because they are carrying a couple of Michelin’s.

Big query about the fitness staff or is it the players professionalism ?. One is in stunning shape, two are below par ?.

McGovern struggled last season with a hip issue. Went in for off season surgery and was thought he may miss the start of the season. He has actually slimmed down from last season but obviously still needs to get som km's in the legs.

Last two years injury has killed his preseasons, this one not so much. Fingers crossed he can stay fit enough to train and play and get match fit.

Nic is naturally big, Figian genes. Plus two knee recos. Feelhe is 'managed' through most preseasons these days at 31.

As if you'd sign a 10-year contract in your second year. It'd need the mother of all performance clauses to be remotely worth it.
Didn't Boyd sign like a 7 year deal in his first year with the Bulldogs?

No sure. Petracca just signed an 8 year deal but he's been in the system a while.

Alistair Lynch signed a 10-year deal with Brisbane when they merged with Fitzroy, from memory. Not personally a fan of large contracts. Doesn't seem beneficial to either party really, unless there's plenty of clauses for performance for either a player to get more money, or a club to release and under-performing individual.

This article was great timing considering the Swans just announced an extension this morning until 2024

You have to laugh don't you. Why on earth would you leave Sydney who are on the way up to go to WCE who are going for a solid rebuild? Free I could get but they have just drafted Amiss

2024 actually sounds like the perfect length to extend - Swans are an outside chance at the flag this year (unlike WCE), and presumably will have a very good shot at it by 2024. Even if he does plan to head west eventually, he might as well wait out the rebuild, play with a competitive team in the meantime, then jump to another team on the rise.
