Re: So The Saints want Nathan Brown for Ball

He wouldn't get to us in the PSD, I wouldn't consider that an option of any benefit to us.

Re: So The Saints want Nathan Brown for Ball

No there's not. We finished effectively fourth on the ladder, meaning we're 13th in line in the PSD. There is zero, I repeat zero chance of him getting to us in the PSD no matter what price he puts on his head. Aside from which, he's not the sort of bloke who would do that to St. Kilda... he's not Nick Davis.

Time might be close for us to make a decision between Dawes & Rusling.

The deal between St.Kilda, Bulldogs & us seems fair.

Trying not to be biased.

Pies
Get Ball
Lose Dawes

Saints
Get Everitt
Lose Ball

Dogs
Get Dawes
Lose Everitt

Ball has reportedly said, Collingwood only. Will not entertain another club hence the deal between Saints and Bombers for Lovett for pick 16 and not Luke Ball.

ummmmm....... if I'm not mistaken, Luke Ball is under contract. He can't put himself in a draft because he is contracted to the St. Kilda football club...

I'm sure the next suggestion will be to call on superman to snatch him from St. Kilda training and bring him to the club..

Good news then, you are mistaken! Luke Ball is out of contract, the Saints offered him a new one in June but he never signed.

He is out of contract & rejected new 3 year deal, so you are mistaken

This is all getting ridiculous. I'd be making Mumford an offer of 2nd round, if that's inked try and get Josh to Hawks for Kennedy or McGlynn. Hold pick 14 for Fev or best player availabe or trade up to try and get into top 10 and get Butcher or Talia.

This is also intriguing...

http://www.theage.com.au/news/rfnews/swans-court-fevola-report/2009/10/07/1254701046684.html

Carlton chief executive Greg Swann has denied that his club would not deal with arch-rival Collingwood, insisting that it would do a deal with which ever club delivered the best deal for the Blues.

That's an easy decision. Given Rusling's history, Dawes is the safer bet to keep by a loooooooooong way. Not nice, but true.

Thats a bit more realistic from Carlton. Weird the contradictions in their statements though. Maybe they've realised their stupidity.

Word is the saints dont want draft picks, they want players for Luke Ball. So Collingwood will probably keep pick 30, Pick 14 is on the table for Jolly. Now they need to sort out who to give to St Kilda for Ball.

A few combinations on what to offer:

Ryan Cook & Wellingham

OR

Nathan Brown and Ryan Cook

OR

Ben Reid and Wellingham

Should be a straight player for player swap for Ball.

We shouldn't get bent over by the Saints and with those options above - we are.

Pick 14 is on the table for Jolly.
I don't think pick #14 is on the table for Jolly unless you have info I haven't come across. Sydney want that pick to pass to Carlton in part of a trade for Fev though. Last I heard was that Collingwood don't want to use that pick for Jolly.

“We’re not even interested in Fevola. I keep saying it but no one believes me. We’ve got nothing to trade for him so we haven’t been involved at all,” he [Roos] said.

Roos said Collingwood had been unable to provide a suitable player to package with pick 14, so it appeared another draft selection would be required to close the deal.

Roos is pulling his Toscanini.

Pick 14 for Fev, then a trade to Melbourne (or similar) to get a pick 18, that then for Jolly with Cook + late round swap. Ball to make it with pick 2 + Wellers at a max, otherwise we can get Kennedy or Mcglynn from Hawks.

If they want the last two deals they can cram it.

Give them Bennell, Stanley and Thoolen;)

Throw in Chris Bryan as steak knives

"Lyons says the balls in Collingwoods court"

What would happen at the end of trade week if we didn't reach a deal? Would we pursue him through the PSD? What are our chances there?

Highly unlikely. In fact, it will not happen.

He won't end up in the PSD and he wouldn't get through to us even if he did.

A deal will be done by the deadline.

However, I would like to know what Lyon means by "quality player".

Obviously our A-graders are not for sale.

Neither is Nathan Brown as has been reported they are interested in him.

Also, I didn't realise being a starter in the centre square for a GF drove your price up in the market.

Would make players like O'Bree, Steinfort, Freeborn etc worth plenty.

Ross Lyon is being an absolute w***er, it's worse reading those quotes as i can imagine his annoying voice in my head every time i read it.

The guy is asking for an equal trade on the basis of long past performances as if we are asking for Judd. If he wants to leave they can't expect to be outright winners in the deal, it would be like the blues asking the lion to trade j. Brown for Fev as they have won similar awards in the past.

Something along the lines of this could work...maybe...

Cox and Wellingham ---> Freo (don't like the idea of losing wellingham, but right now toovey and dick are better methinks)

Peake and Drum ?? ---> St. Kilda (they were looking at Peake, i could be imagining the drum link

Ball ---> Collingwood

you could always go even more complicated and work something out to move drum to geelong and we end up with Mumford, allowing us to get a promising big bodied ruckman, stuff sydney and land fev with 14 + fringe player, would probably have to send the second rounder to fremantle though and get them to send another up and comer to st. kilda

...yeah...

Which reading between the lines means they will have something to deal with Fevola if they get our pick 14.

Exactly right. They have nothing to trade with for Fev at the moment which will totally change when if we give them pick 14. Hence we use 14 for Fev ourselves.

We're no chance of getting Ball the way Ross lyon's talking
Saints can't just bend us over and want a 1st round pick or a gun player
