gday

i am an avid fan of this show and my wife , who is a chef and i watch it all the time

i must say that the decision tonight was an absolute disgrace ! there is no way in hell that michelle deserved to be voted off going on the dishes served up tonight by kate and sam

sam had a pip in his dish whish is a massive NO NO ! and kate undercooked the main element of her dish being the squid, which were both far worse errors than michelles minor faults with her dish

if i was michelle and that happened to me, i would have said something as it was bullshit !

just absolute discrace !

cheers

wian

Michelle was always going home, regardless of performance.

I'm not a fan of her, especially after her men vs. women crap last week, but it was obvious that the cards were stacked against her from the start.

Kate and Sam could have served up totally raw and unstuffed squid and they'd have found a reason to keep them both.
The producers obviously want to manufacture angst, controversy and conflict, something that is bound to happen if they keep Kate (and Sam) there.
The whole Kate/Josh and Sam thing is bound to annoy people (if it hasn't already), so keeping them together enables the alliances to be formed, creating the whole 'us against them' mentality.

I know that it's the nature of the beast, but i wish they'd simply try to find our first Masterchef, not our first interesting, entertaining young person who can cook a bit.

one bit that really grinds my gears is the when they ask the contestants "why do you want to be here/win this?" and they answer with "oh its my life long dream to open a restaurant/work with food etc"

well, if its such a dream why is sam working in a call centre? why does michelle own a bookstore? why is kate studying to be a lawyer? go get an effing chefs apprenticeship if its such a dream. just because you dont win some stupid tv competition doesnt mean that dream is over.

Wasn't it a condition of auditioning that they were not working in any kind of professional cooking position?

Yes, but his point was that if being a chef was/is their 'passion' and their 'lifelong dream', why did it take a tv show for them to get involved with the industry?

i agree with your comments that the producers probably wanted to creat angst etc and controversy.

however, the elimination is based on what was cooked "last night", and they simply got it wrong and eliminated the wrong person if you ask me as michelles dish wasn not the worst one !

cheers

It's supposed to be, yes.

I truly believe that her card was marked before a dish was cooked.

The way the show has been cut makes it very obvious who is going to be kept in the show and who is likely to go at the first opportunity.
They've invested a lot of time in Kate, Sam, Josh, Poh and Trevor, whereas they've barely shown Justine (who is simply stunning), Sandra (who, like Justine, is very tv friendly given her looks), Julia and Andre, which tells me that they're unlikely to be there at the end.

I hope i'm wrong, otherwise it's going to be a very predictable next few months.

That's true about Justine mostly you hardly ever hear about her..Julia did win the challenge however so did Brent.

Agree that Kate should have gone..they said that cooking the squid properly was of prime importance..yeah right:rolleyes:

have they cooked anything decent yet that has been worth showing?

i agree they have hardly been seen maybe cause they are not winning challenges or losing them.

Justine is a weird one.
She's stunning, she's well spoken and she can obviously cook, yet i don't remember her being the focus during an episode or even being used as the narrator (much of the story telling is left to Chris, who rocks, Sam and Kate).

Yep.

I've no doubt that if it was one of the less prominent contestants (Justine, Sandra, Andre etc.) that couldn't even cook a squid, they would have been booted out of there without a second thought.

yeah thats what i meant, and why does not winning masterchef end that dream?

Exactly.
Some of them are extremely talented, but you have to question their passion and commitment if a reality tv show is the only way they're willing to live out their 'dream' of becoming a chef.

have they cooked anything decent yet that has been worth showing?

We wouldn't know, would we?

If creating quality dishes was the criteria for screen time, we'd be seeing a lot more of Big Tom, Lucas and Julia and far less of Josh and Aaron.

i agree they have hardly been seen maybe cause they are not winning challenges or losing them.

Again, Josh isn't winning or losing anything yet it regularly on the screen.

Obviously if you're very steady and consistent in your cooking then you're less likely to be on screen as those who are spectacularly good (or bad), but that doesn't explain why numerous contestants are never spoken to, never featured and only ever shown in fleeting cutaways.

There are always going to be dominant personalities on a show like this, but i've never before seen such an uneven distribution of airtime across the contestants.
I hope it's just that they've edited poorly and not a reflection on who is and isn't going to survive on the show.

Can't believe Kate stayed last night, her squid didn't look cooked at alll. They judges probably kept her in there because he would be a crying mess if she was kicked off the show.

Anyone reckon Julia stands a chance to win tonight?

It was awesome to see Julia get the win tonight.

She's obviously very talented but is a bit awkward and lacks self-confidence, so hopefully that gives her the opportunity to come out of her shell and develop some real belief in her abilities.

Going in i wanted her to lose the challenge, simply because i saw leaving for two months as a massive disadvantage, but after the win they said that she's going to spend that time working with Pete Evans, which is a real advantage as she'll get a chance to work in a real kitchen, with real pressures.

They tried to pass it off as a random offer from Pete Evans, but it's obviously part of the deal because simply going home for two months is anything but a reward.

Best episode of the season so far.

Well done to Julia, bit of a quiet acheiever through the competition so far. Now if only Aaron gets the boot Thursday night all will be well.

As much as i want to discuss the major challenge tonight, all i can remember is Sandra in the blue dress

I hope someone, somewhere, capped it for posterity.

I'm telling you even though I adore Julia...just WOW..i can see what you see in her now;)

Great to see the blue team finally get a win as well.

The show is really starting to come into it's own now IMO.

Last nights ep was great, was a real twist too that the blue team won, I was SURE that the Red team would win with the aisle's they got as well as George seemed to be giving some better ideas that Gary.

What a turn around though, the Blue team didn't get great items but Gary helped bring them over the line as well as some great cooking on the Blue teams end too, each of their 3 meals looked fantastic and the critics were seemingly in awe of how good the quality of the meals were too.

BTW Both Justine and Sandra are VERY nice pieces of strumpet to watch, Sandra has that MILFY thing going, while Justine has that real natural beauty that you would love to stuff with your man meat.

Am i the only one sick to death of Kate?

She's a spoilt, immature little brat who throws a tantrum whenever she doesn't get her own way.
The quicker she leaves, the better.

I didn't mind Josh as a bloke, but he was probably the right choice to go home.
He and Aaron are clearly the worst two cooks there (in my view), and taking Josh breaks up the annoying (and potentially powerful) trio of him, Kate and Sam.

Hopefully Aaron goes home soon too.

Overall, i'm just glad Chris survived because, despite the chicken, he's shown that not only is he talented, passionate and intelligent, but he also showed himself to be one of the more entertaining people on the show.

:D

I picked those two out as the standouts during the first episode, so it's good to see others jumping aboard.

I hope both stay there until the end, but i feel that Justine has more chance of going deep, so to speak.
