A positive from our game in regards to the new bloods was Suban, he certainly didn't do bad for a debut match and his goal was rather good....:thumbsu: To quote a line from Robocop....

That goal was a ripper.

He could fill a real void for us in the midfield. Aside from Headland and Pavlich (and Black), the ability to kick long and accurately on the run is a skill that we have been lacking in recent years. Now with the addition of Ibbotson, Hill and Suban we are starting to look a bit more dangerous outside 50.

His first goal in footy was an absolute ripper yet barely anyone went to him to pat him on the back/bum/head. That was a little disappointing. Great signs from most of the kids.

Yeah that was disappointing. You could see him looking around waiting for guys to come to him like they did to Hill in the 1st qtr but no one was interested.

I knew for sure we wouldn't win after that. The boys had no life left in them.

That was more than a little disappointing. It was a disgrace.

Must admit, i had little life left in me at that stage and didnt notice that.. but if its the case that is pretty piss poor... :thumbsd:

For the few chances Suban got yesterday he looked good. The question then is when so many others were struggling why did he only play half a game? I also agree that his kicking on a few occassions was exquisite.

when he got the ball you could see him weighing up the options, all the while I was yelling at the tv have ping have ping and when he nailed it just proved that he has excellent composure and a left foot that may soon be revered as much as Luke Hodge’s

almost put a hole in the roof when it went through

Watching the footage what are some of you talking about in regards to Subans lack of hugs and cuddles after his goal ???

****ing ripper though... I like it...

He may score a rising star nomination at this rate if he keeps that sort of effort up...

Esepcially when he starts to get more game time.

Suban seemed to always have time and showed great poise. Several times on the wing near where we sit he would make the players come to him instead of panicking and rushing the disposal.

Good debut, please Harvs play him a whole game and drop Head!!!!

Yeah didn't see it either. Duff and Ibbo gave him a wrap. Different stage of the game and less to celebrate than Hill's goal because of that (we were behind). Bloke didn't seem to expect congratulation at all for what he did (but it was a brilliant goal and very glad he got one).

What do you guys think Pav is saying to Schammer after he scores his hook around the body goal? (around 1:35 in the video)

My guess is he's telling Pav he should have kicked it to the space/player on his own just inside 50 when he did his original kick ... I don't really know just wondering?

Suban didn't have any major stuff ups but hardly did much. Compared to some of the other debutants this round ours went rather poorly in my opinion.

Yeah I thought that too during the game, I actually thought Pav was having a go at Schammer.

I think Pav was just telling Schammer that he'd gotten away from his opponent for the initial kick inside 50. Pretty sure Pav's free to the right of screen, and Schammer had a bit of tunnel vision. And it could have been a simple mark to Pav if he'd seen him instead of Schammer blazing away to a contest.

That was my take on it anyway, don't think Pav would have too many complaints about Schammers follow up and goal.

And yes Suban was very good I thought. Not many can kick a footy like he can. Noticed Hill had 100% disposal efficiency which isn't too bad for a debutant either.

Good news people, I just finished having breakfast with Mark Harvey and he said Suban and Hill are both certain starters against the bombers and both will spend more time on the ground than they did Sunday. :thumbsu:

Still got that hard on for the ranga hey?

Not really, but he did have a better game than Hill and Suban. As did a lot of other debutants. It's only one game though, so who is to judge their careers, just pointing out that their first game was worse than a lot of other rookies. Let us hope they improve.

It is pretty obvious our rookies aren't going to have a "Palmer year" this year, they look like they need quite a bit of development. It would have been nice to get at least one player who would be ready to really play this year though, someone like Robinson instead of Clarke/Suban/Balla. Unless of course the plan was to end up near the bottom of the table for more draft picks, which I'm ok with.
