Bancroft has to be in based on form for the last 3 years:

Bancroft was not anointed by the bloke who bullied him into using the sandpaper in the first place and most likely because he refused to absolve the NSW bowlers of any knowledge or involvement in the scandal when asked recently. He is most likely the best candidate but powerful forces within the team would rather not welcome him back.

Australia will be doing the same by next year.
Do you really think so? Australia has gone out of its way to undermine the local T20 competition by refusing to release test and squad players ever since the league's inception. Our Mickey Mouse tournament would have to be outside the top 5 leagues. If we compromised our test team to prop up the BBL, it would be the dumbest decision since that time we failed to adequately succession plan for the Chappell/Lillee/March retirements. Or the Warne/McGrath/Langer retirements which proved that we don't learn from history. Or the current test team selection policy which shows that if at first you don't succession plan, then just keep making the same mistake.

Thoughts on the Saffers team to play your lot KiwiRoo ?

Crikey. Haven't heard of most of them to be honest. We're struggling to beat the bangles at the moment so might be a close series.
Cant blame the players choosing t-20. Easy to be available for test cricket when the central contracts are huge for the likes of the Aussies, Indians and poms but if your central contract is $125k a year , and you can get that for a few games playing T-20 and you have a young family......

This is why I think we won’t be too like this but I hope for our sake, we have some new blood for West Indies
They are looking to the recycle bin. Don't get your hopes up. They will top up a-la the Scotts bros and in 3 years when Greens is captain there won't be another recognised name in the squad.

At least we might get some Vics in the team
Problem is apart from Boland, and Puc if he can get himself back to 100%. No one else is good enough at this stage.
Most of the best potential replacements are from WA Green, Hardie, Morris Jhye Richardson and Inglis

Edit: Forgot about Todd Murphy as our best spinning prospect post Lyon. But he's technically not a Vic anyway, Moama boy

Green probably will miss the Windies series, spend the next season putting scores together in the shield to come back then after 3 years to return to test cricket
Concerned about test spinners though, the list after Swepson (not gone on him) consists of players barely playing any FC matches (Lyon was an exception)

Hence the reason WA has done well in the shield
There are some younger players there, should they want to, could do ok
Though Frasier-McGurk and Sutherland dunno what to make of them 🤷‍♂️

Think it's Western Royboy on the cricket board, who goes on about how well structured junior cricket is in WA. So the recent domination on the back of that, is no surprise.

There's some handy young talent in Vic, but only Murphy actually appears ready for international cricket now. Sutherland, O'Neil and Perry all show promise, but are some way down our fast bowling list.
Fraser-McGurk is a huge talent and could become a Warner style player in red-ball cricket, but he's a Redback now

Really! If you can't beat them, join them. All you have to do is...

Walk like an Egyptian!

Aussies cherish test matches above all else
Maybe we do, but what about when Test cricket means that India, England and 2-3 Test series against the likes of this SAteam make up the four year cycle? Matches will get very dull and crowds, sponsors and broadcasters will head for the hills. The money vacuum will see CA contracts look like chicken feed and Australian players will have to ask the question: Do I keep playing against nobody for nothing in front of no one, or do I take the $$$$?

Won't happen in 12 months, but it would be naive to think that our boys love the baggy green so much that we're immune to it.
