Noble needs to piss that polo shirt off.

It's equally as horrible as how we are playing.

I thought he spoke well today. Made a point about versatility and emphasized rotating players in different positions due to the interchange cap. He's clearly exposing players to different positions not just because of interchange caps but because we have to be able to cover players when they go down to injury. Having that flexibility can enable a heightened ability to sustain the level of footy played when there weren't casualties.

He's thinking ahead clearly and that in my book is a huge plus. Go get em Nobes and go roos!

You can see the difference between an experienced footy person and how Rhys handled those losses last year.
Noble calm, composed, optimistic and willing to fire back at the media when required defending his players.
Even had to tell the reporters what the rules are regarding taking it out of the ruck not being prior opportunity, making them look like peanuts lol

He's exactly what we need right now. A steady hand that can plan for the future. Not going to be easy for him at all but so far I'm impressed. No point papering over cracks... like my workplace is right now.

I've seen some monumental hidings going back to 1983 150 points v Fitzroy, 1983 Prelim, 1984 137 v Carlton, 1988 100 down at HT v *....the list goes on....sometimes it feels like we've copped more than the average shellackings.
Marstermind ?

Say since 1975 to the present...losses of 100 points?

In theory he might be a nice hybrid between the last 2 coaches. Articulate, smooth communication but seems to demonstrate strong football understanding pretty well too.

All means nought of course without results in the long term.

He said it himself. I've been in these situations at other clubs before. Feel pretty comfortable with him and Blakely running things.

For sure towards the end of the year I hope we can show what the Crows did towards then end of last year and be in games, but he's been in these situations before and isn't going to panic.

Collingwood have had a few stretches of being ordinary, I'm surprised they weren't walloped more often.

Me too. I'd have thought thay'd have been pounded a few times under Tony Shaw, but no. His biggest loss in his 4 years was only 63. Three of the 5 100+ losses were under Malthouse, one under Matthews and one under John Cahill (the biggest finals loss ever in 1984).

North 100+ point wins?

This millenium I'm thinking, Melbourne circa 2013, Carlton 2003 dead rubber.. GWS 2012.. struggling for any others? 3 in 20 years?!

Collingwood have had a few stretches of being ordinary, I'm surprised they weren't walloped more often.
They've only had 7 x 100 point losses in their entire history, until 1984 there'd only been two (both in the 40s).
Meanwhile, North has had 20 plus - I don't know the exact figure because AFL tables only shows the top 20 and our 20th biggest was 104 😥

Thanks. So that's 6 in the 80s, 9 in the 90s...

and ... 3 in the next 22 years .. .

You're talking this season? Agree.

I'm not arguing for any green shoots as such. In any year there'll be a couple of good draftees untainted by a losing culture who come in and look like a new guard and that is happening right now. I'm not convinced (or unconvinced) of any assured success out of the current coaching setup.

Only reminding some that getting some absolute smashings isn't a new phenomena restricted to this coach and a young group.

The key point of difference is the ability to bounce back from these thrashings and being competitive at least in some games. So far this season we haven’t been competitive in any, and if we lose to Adelaide by 40+, it will be the most uncompetitive North team in my 30 odd years in footy

I think I read somewhere we have the most finals losses by over a one hundred fabulous  And I think I have been to most, if not all of them, fun times.

There have only ever been 6 finals decided by 100+. We were on the wrong end on 3 of them (1987, 2000 and 2007). The other three are Geelong (1969), Collingwood (1984) and Port Adelaide (2007). We also have the 9th biggest finals loss - 96 v West Coast in 2012.
