Autopsy NMFC vs WBD

Not
Our club just doesn't utilise the pre-season to push skills sessions when the players are fatigued. You can't do those kind of drills during the season. Everyone looks good hitting targets in the warmup, it is your ability to do it under pressure and fatigued which counts, we could do a lot more to simulate match conditions over the pre-season.

I just don't think we focus enough on the skills or game play. Sure, fitness is important but there is scope to do a lot more than what we do.

We have some of the poorest skills in the AFL and it undoes a lot of hard work that we do. Our endeavour so far this season has been great and we have done very well in the hardball stats.
Not sure if we have quality coaches!
Think about it:
Children a reflection of their parents!
Quality of Pets nature a reflection of quality of owners!
Player performance/skills & decision making a reflection of What?....the puppeteers?

Well, at least you don't see anything like that on the North board....

So we're calling North players c***s now are we? Is that a thing?

And to think some people have the audacity to question the quality of posting around here.

Apologies, was a very angry man yesterday.

Edit: I actually love LT and appreciate what he's done for the club. But those last two kicks were inexcusable.

So the dust has settled on our 13th defeat out of our last 17 games. By way of comparison it was one of our better defeats. I saw enough yesterday to believe we won't be mired in a malaise of mediocrity for very long.

First and foremost we ticked the box of whether we keep the fixture- passed with flying colours. For years peeps on this board and other external voices have bemoaned our lack of block buster games. The football world had their eyes on us yesterday and yes it would seem they are happy we go pipped at the post and their erections are what we should focus on- they enjoyed watching NMFC play football ,the whole point of the exercise. The club has plans for this day and those plans revolve around 65,000 - 75,000 people watching the GF clash at the MCG within a few years- I like it! The possibilities are endless from a partnership pov. And yes I'm not underselling the good we can do for the kids.

Now for those on BF particularly that feel four points is the most important thing....... 4/0 3/1 2/2 or 7 zip it don't matter our current list isn't going to win us premiership number 5. We need to look at that as our end goal. The only real way to achieve this is by why of lowly finishes for a bit. Of course you can offer someone 9 million bucks to join you and trade players and picks on top of that. Seems like a) very convoluted and b) very bloody expensive.

Paul Roos is someone I haven't been a huge fan of, but he did say something interesting about Jy Simpkin when Jy trained with the Dees last year. He'd have played him in the seniors, he was winning everything at training and was ready for AFL. Roos is and was right- gee we were lucky Jy broke his leg, strange thing to say I know.

We now find ourselves in a similar position with Jaidyn Stephenson training with us, it has been phoar apparently. Will go between pick 1-5 don't quote me but a gallant 9th finish probably means we miss out. But who know is thee seasons we could offer him 15 million to come across to North and trade our collective first born.

Probably easier finishing low and nab a ready to go gun. Adding in Jy and Paul Ahern who for those out there with a finger on the pulse- what type of player is Paul? Went at pick 7 is about all I know.

All in all things are no where near as bad as they seem on this Easter Saturday.

Oh still not overly happy with some selection choices of course and I hope we do trade a gun at seasons end, this is a very solid draft for decent mids from what I've been told. We could nab two with early picks.

Release JZ to his rightful spot ( fwd Line)

FP Ahern Daw, Simpkin
HF JZ Brown Stephenson

And I tell ya the erections would be Hird like!

Enjoy the day peeps.

You singled him out as a reason we lost because he gave up a goal and we lost by 3. He would literally be the last person on the playing list I would put down to this.
I agree our defensive unit did incredibly well. Thompson did some good things, but his blunders seem to end up so much worse than those around him. Off the top of my head 3 of his blunders turned into 3 goals.
The loss came down to our skills at the end of the day. Our kicking efficiency was laughable.
You can't pinpoint the loss on one particular incident. It's a collective of bad skills and bad decision making that cost us the game, mostly from our midfield.

I singled him out specifically to point how stupid it was to single out anyone, in that case Thompson, not to knock Tarrant. People ere saying Thompson made mistakes that directly cost us one or two goals so i mentioned Tarrant because he did the same thing. In such a close game every small mistake could have saved the game if it was avoided. But no players are perfect. The way some people go on about players its like they expect them to be perfect and that individual mistakes not general performances over a whole game cost games shits me to tears.

I thought I made it clear that despite those goals Tarrant still played an excellent game and shouldn't be criticised for them (but they happened I'm not saying ignore them)

The bit I've bolded of your comment is how I feel about the game.

It was good to see Scott actually make some changes to his set up. i.e. Ziebell and Tarrant forward late.

The one I liked and noticed to work well was Hrovat behind the ball. Now I'm not sure if he was just starting off the back of the square at center bounces or he was rolled to half back, but it work well and he played a role in the run on we had in the third quarter.

One thing I noticed our guys doing was only taking two steps behind their marks before trying to make a decision of where to kick to. This wasn't just a couple of times, it was a bunch of guys doing it constantly. You need to quickly get ten meters off your mark, otherwise you're forced to kick the ball high.

I like that they look to play on but yeah, that quick step or two while looking makes a low fast kick so much easier.

Think we need to finish in the bottom 4. Even if we string 9 or so wins together, finishing in the top half of the bottom 10 doesn't help us as much. We need another top pick, someone to compliment jy (probably a skillful midfielder or half back flanker).

At the start of the 3rd, we had LT charge from the back of the square then Hrovat for a couple. Then Beveridge woke up to it and made sure they were manned up.

Then straight after that Atley missed two targets in a minute and they kicked another one. That five minute period lost us the game.
Atley should have known better. That short kick to Hrovat in a 50/50 at CHF should have been a long kick deep into the 50 where he had BBB, Higgo and LT and their opponents. A turnover there will always result in a shot at goal against. No short to 50/50's, that is under 15 stuff Shaun.

Just watched the replay again, really happy to see Hrovat showing some of his wares. The kid has a ton of talent, once injuries are behind him and he gains a little more poise, he'll claim a best 22 position every week. Best of luck for next week.

Thanks Doughy I thought as the game wore on he found his feet- great signs.

He looked like he really wanted to prove a point yesterday. When we were beating you guys in the second and early third he was playing really good footy.

Yep I sensed that too. He parted the doggies on good terms, with the early injuries he had at Doggieland, we knew he'd struggle to gain the permanent role he would deserve in time. Hopefully it works out for him at Arden St. Great leadership skills and a really impressive bloke to boot.

Yes we can confirm Tarrant went forward.
Who said the club doesn't read bigfooty. :D

Good call. That was very ordinary football. I said to my son you just know he is going to miss now. Cant understand why anyone would ever do that
I was right behind the goals, so I saw that clearly. However, you live and die by these decisions. When he marked the ball he immediately decided he was going to take on the responsibility. He had just scored from the same position a couple of minutes before. Imagine the meltdown here if he had tried to pass it and screwed it up. As for Ziebell's shot at goal from the boundary, everyone around me was shouting at him to take it on. In hindsight, he should have set it up - given his kicking woes.
