Surely that’s the end of him at AFL level at the very least. Sounds a little too clear cut about what has gone on.

Plus it would mean the Pies get their salary cap relief they have been craving, as he should be able to be sacked without needing to pay him or include him in their TPP

Will be interesting to see how Jordy does in Sing Sing.

Really though good riddance. Has always come across as an entitled idiot who hasn't prepared to work had enough to capitalise on his talent.

Hope the woman and her friend affected are okay.

Collingwood football club are attempting to contact Jordan De Goey after the AFL star was arrested and put in a New York holding cell for allegedly groping a woman.
According to the New York Daily News, De Goey was partying with his friend Luke Dyson at the PHD Rooftop Lounge on Saturday when the pair are alleged to have approached a woman on the dancefloor.

The woman’s friend then confronted the pair, before Dyson allegedly struck the man in the face with a glass bottle, and splitting his lip, New York police said.
Police say the woman called 911 and De Goey and Dyson were taken into custody, before being charged with forcible touching and assault.
The Magpies released a brief statement on Sunday about their 25-year-old game-breaker, who finished fourth in the club’s best-and-fairest this year.
“Collingwood is aware of a report involving Jordan De Goey,” the statement read.
“The club is attempting to contact Jordan, who is in the USA, to determine the facts of the matter.
“The club will not be in a position to comment further until it has done so.”
De Goey travelled to the US during the off-season to undergo an intensive fitness program as W Training Facility in California, as he attempted to capitalise on an outstanding end to the 2021 AFL season.
Only last week, De Goey gave several interviews saying he drew inspiration from Christian Petracca after the Melbourne star’s Norm Smith medal-winning performance in the Demons’ drought-breaking premiership win.
De Goey was allowed to leave Australia under a permit due to his sponsorship with Monster Energy.
The explosive midfielder-forward is out of contract at the end of next season and was setting himself for a new career-making contract.
In August, Victoria Police had to pay legal costs to De Goey after dropping a historic indecent assault charge against him.
De Goey has played 118 games and kicked 155 goals for the Magpies after debuting in 2015.
The AFL said it is aware of the allegations made against De Goey.
“The AFL integrity department will look into the matter once more information is obtained, until then the AFL is not in a position to make comment,” a statement read.

Unrelated question:

Why is De Goey allowed to be in the USA giveb the travel restrictions?
I wondered that. I suppose all the Collingwood players got vaccinated as soon as their season ended. As for travelling for holidays (non-essential) there are obviously some rules that don’t apply to the privileged class. As it has always been and always will be.

News just said he had a special exemption to go to train under someone...???

This shits me to tears to be honest.

People are stranded overseas and fully vaccinated are desperate to come home but a footballer can go over to New York and train for a few weeks.

This shits me to tears of laughter! Collingwood got rid of Treloar and kept Jordan De Floggey :tearsofjoy:

The forcible touching charge has been dropped. That means he could argue against the assault charges. The USA has a "mutual combat" defence, which means that if two parties get in a fight, it's classed as a punch-on. His lawyers will investigate the other guy and if they find any dirt on him, he will be pressured to shake hands and walk away.

Dont think it applies in NYC. Mutual combat seems to focus on arranged fighting and duels, not bar fights. Also:

Washington state is one of only two states in America where mutual combat is totally legal. Most states do not have a specific law relating to mutual combat, leaving consensual fights in a sort of gray area. Washington state, however, does have a law legalizing mutual combat

Does that include gun play

Mark Maclure didn’t miss when he mentions early in his article why he wouldn’t play him, because his on-field performance reflects his selfishness off-field.

That may be true but if De Goey isn't in the news for his latest stupidity MacLure is writing an article about how De Goey is primed to follow in the footsteps of Martin and Petracca to become a dominant mid.

It applies in California. That's where I lived and ended up in a fight :)

Burden of Proof
When Substantial Evidence supports a theory of Mutual Combat and Self Defense, the government has the burden of showing the act of Mutual Combat was not in Self Defense.

Examples
  • During a fight, calling out a desire to stop the fight.
  • After a fight cools down asking for a truce.

So the prosecution has the burden of proof to make that the defendant wasn't acting in self defence.

District Attorney will prosecute, no doubt. I think he'll get off on self defence.

Looks like Lewis Young made a good choice for destination. Also a little ironic given who he's likely to replace.

Blues KPD refusing to get the vaccine. After the dickhead just shaved his head in "support" of Doc, but won't take actions that would ACTUALLY protect the health of those who are vulnerable.
