Not sure you can say a list does not need a another gun midfielder who has been known to kick goals. Sure they may only get 3 seasons out of him but they have a few others in that boat. Time to strike.

When looking at their list (midfield in particular) there wasn't a 'need' as it were to bring in another mid. So this wasn't a list decision.
This is purely a romantic decision that arguably we don't see enough of in this day and age - The Prodigal Son Returning.

It's refreshing in a way but laced with risk. Giving up 2 first rounders.....crazy imo.

I don't think so. Beams is a gun, Pies just lost the GF. Perfect time to bring in another gun.

Can never have too many guns :)

i liked him more as a Brisbane player.can't stand him again now hahaha

Has done well enough for pick 89 in an average/poor side. Would have been regarded a lot higher if they left him at CHB. His poor goal kicking let him down and lead to the confidence / inconsistent issues.
Ok that’s all fair.

Who would you put up as the worst 100 gamer?

Look you would still have him in the running for worst 100 game player but 100 games is 100 games :)
Micheal Symons played 100 games for us without ever being able to kick.
Kevin Walsh played 162
Wes Fellows for the Pies.
Bret Stephens Fitzroy
Daniel Bandy - Fremantle.

On an American site that I like for their NBA coverage they described Mason Cox as an Aussie treasure and it annoyed me to an irrational extent. Like I don't expect them to be clued into the culture of Aussie rules but acting like Mason Cox is a success story isn't really accurate.
Tell them that Aaron Baynes is every bit as much a US treasure as Cox is an Aussie treasure

Freo all of a sudden have pretty potent forward line.

Mundy Hogan Walters
Matera Lobb McCarthy

Hogan and Mundy love to push up the ground, Lobb is the bailout/deep option coming out of the square and McCarthy can return to his best position as 3rd banana (where he kicked 39 goals in his second year). Not to mention what Walter can do with the 3rd/4th defender guarding him.

They all of a sudden have a decent forward line to kick it to. Might see their ball movement speed up a bit with some genuine targets.

Unfortunately they'll never get the ball down there, midfield is fyfe and ......

S.Hill, B.Hill, Blakely, Cerra, Brayshaw, Ed Langdon, Mundy can roll through there at points, Conca and Colyer as depth now.

Add a mature ager at the draft like Jye Bolton and another quality kid at 14 like Hately or Liam Stocker then they are a decent line up.

Casboult currently holds the worst 100 gamer title IMO

I'm not even sure if Levi would make the top 5 "worst 100 gamers from 2010". Just at the Gold Coast you have matt shaw, sam day, trent mckenzie and roy thompson who played 100 games for them. and anyone who would pick Sam Day before Levi is insane

Michael Symons, how dare you?

FMD now we got coaches playing the ‘go home’ card. Sam Mitchell returning due to family reasons and too tough living in Perth with a family. With all the money and resources available to these people surely you can make it work. Adam Simpson has with more kids! The whole AFL fraternity is turning into a Prima Donna breeding ground, and clearly out of touch with what most Australian families would call ‘doing it tough’.

I think everyone knows that's not the real reason though. Mitchell was kicked out.

As someone who had to manage a workforce of predominately young people who had moved away from home and move locations every few years, while having to do similar myself with a young family I always find the "homesick" culture of AFL very interesting.

Either most clubs are not really a good place to work and don't have much of a 'culture' to them, or a lot of players have a lot less resilience than they are made out to have. If you can't find a way to live for a few years in a different city (within the same country) on the wage of a modern footballer with the resources available to them, you really aren't trying very hard.
