What exactly has Richardson done to deserve a spot before McDermott, Coulter-Nile and Faulkner?

Be in South Australia. Remember, the squad is only for the first two matches. Which means he'll be in the squad for one match, which is in Adelaide.

Take 10 wickets at 17 in 4 matches this season? 1 less than Faulkner who has played 5 and 2 less than Coulter-Nile who has played 5. 3 MORE than McDermott in 1 less game. Not hard to work that one out.

Actually, it's because the game is in Adelaide. Had it been in Perth NCN would have been called up; Hobart and it would have been Faulkner.

Thanks John Inverarity ;)

That is a partial reason to it for sure. But not the sole reason. Faulkner appears to have gone backwards anyway so he wouldn't be in my frame for Aus selection this season.

Yeah, not sure why he mentioned McDermott, he is having a shithouse season with the ball.

If he performs well, he'll be in there longer than one match I reckon. He is one of the best limited overs fast bowlers in the country at present (outside of the current side).

What's everyones opinion on Kane Richardson being called up to the ODI squad?

Personally I think it's great. Now this might be me being bias to SA but he's been in great form in the Ryobi Cup and Big Bash and I think it's good for him to get the experience of International cricket being 21 and having some form in doing so.

I doubt Richardson will play so there was no point in flying a Faulkner or NCN over just to be twelfth man.

Looking forward to see how Cutting goes considering he hasn't really shown a lot in the Ryobi.

He's a very slim chance of playing, though.
Yeah true. But being a part of the squad and seeing what the standard is like at International level, will definitely benefit him.

It's very good for him, but the fact the game is in Adelaide was certainly the deciding factor.

I assume you have seen a lot more of him than I have, can you give a bit of a run down on the type of player he is? Pace, swing, aggression etc? And why has this limited overs form not seen him take the Shield in a similar manner?

yeah, he's been average.

He's quite quick. He has lately been bowling up or close to 150k's. I think he can swing the ball both ways (not to sure, as I mainly see him play live at the ground than on T.V. So it's a bit hard to tell). But I'm pretty sure he does swing it. He's got all deliveries. Bouncer, yorker, slower ball etc. And got a bit of aggression. He hasn't got the opportunities in Shield cricket, he's only played 2 games this season. Not to sure why though.

Oh and he's a pretty decent fieldsman :p :thumbsu:.

It will be interesting to see if the squad for next weekends games are picked around which sides are still in the Big bash??

It will be interesting to see whether they release players anyway for the semi finals given the next game isnt untill Friday

Would prefer Cutting playing tomorrow

Really, Cutting on form since his return from injury is not like it was last year/ Richardson doubles his wick tally, half his average and conceding 1.4 runs an over less on economy.

To answer thorne89 question, he's quick but long spells sees that pace drop a bit. Has good seem movement at pace He has a good yorker and working on a slower ball to close innings. Botha likes to reintroduce him just as the batman are settling in for the so called middle over lull and he shakes things up a bit.

As for your question about the shield form, 21 years old averaging 33 from 6 games when your home deck is Adelaide... He's doing all right.

Would take that from a 2 year old!

He seems to be struggling to get a regular gig, that's all I meant.

Of the semi-finalists, there wouldn't be many to consider. Finch, Hussey, Maxwell, McKay and Faulkner are the regulars who may miss from the Melbourne sides, and really only Christian from the Heat and Marsh and NCN from the Scorchers. Of that lot I'd expect Finch, Dussey and McKay the only ones who'd be in the squad, maybe Maxwell

The Heat have Cutting.

Christian would be lucky to make a squad of 25. ;)
Wouldn't be considered at full ODI strength IMO,

On skill; yes, on favourites; hell no
