Uh no - It's completely true.

Where you getting YOUR information from?

#28 - Dawes
#29 - MacKenzie
#32 - Tippett

Do the research next time - It's really not that hard.
Got Muddled meant Before:confused:

Dave, you were the one that was right in the first place.

You didn't get muddled, except about being muddled.

You said we drafted Dawes over Mackenzie and Tippett, and stifler's_mom (in)corrected you and said we picked him after Mackenzie and Tippett. You were right, he was wrong.

Hopefully it becomes a reality come draft day.

Any write-up that comes with it DTM?

Also, has Swift done any work with us before like some draftees do? i.e. spend time at the club for a week or two?

Everything just seems so right about him. In the interviews he seems driven to succeed, work hard, learn and get the best out of himself. As someone mentioned that is a massive trait that Hine puts an enormous emphasis on.

Time will tell.....

Write Up Here:

11. COLLINGWOOD – Tom Swift
Collingwood has spent the recent drafts concentrating on building their spine so now its time to turn their attention to the midfield with the recent retirements of Buckley, Burns and Licuria. There are three names on the Pies list; Swift, Sidebottom and Beams. They go with Swift who was a standout under-16 but has missed two years of footy with knee injuries.

I think Hannebery at 11 is fine, but because he doesn't seem as well rated around here as I think he should be, then I'm naturally a little hesitant about it. Just cynnical about my own opinion I guess, because everyone else's is so different.

In fact, if you quizzed most people who'd they prefer out of Blease and Hannebery, they'd go Blease, perhaps 80-20 split. I don't see it. I'd go Hannebery comfortably.

Never mind, like I've said before, our opinions don't matter so much, just Derek's. :)
Put me firmly in the Hannebery camp on that one. :)

From the sounds of it, we might all want to get used to the sound of Beams at #11.

Every year we hear about us rating someone highly, but we all say "we wouldn't draft him there - Look at all the other great players who could be available", and then we draft the guy that was rumoured, or someone else entirely.

I thought the same think thinking Hine will just Pick Beams but I still think it will be Swift.

Video of Beams:

I dunno Beams at 11 could seem a little to high, but I guess if we rated him that much and all the other decent mids have been picked I could see us pulling this out of the hat. He is the one with all the tats right? That could be interesting.

And can may I just ad, can draft day please hurry up! It really is killing me a little bit lol.

Never know with our drafting, but I guess if you look at it and both these boys were our priority you'd have to take Swift at 11 and hope Beams is available at 29, because you have the chance of getting Swift at 11 and Beams at 29, but no hope of Beams at 11 and Swift at 29.

But like I said, who knows.

What about Sidebottom - Also mention him as a Possibly

I'd rather Swift at 11 and Beams at 29.

Like it says we have 3 players on our list, Swift, Frontbum and Beams.

Hine probably has them ranked as 1 to 3.

If 1 get's drafted higher than 11 we take 2, if 1 and 2 get taken higher than 11 we take 3.

Like I said we have the chance to get 2 if we take Swift or Sidebottom at 11, but if we take Beams at 11 we only have the chance to get 1 of these players we like.

It makes sense to me, but you know, never count out anything with our recruiting.

Plus he could Draft Someone Else Completely but I can defintaly see us Drafting Swift. Does tick almost all the Boxes for hine

Also Said the we did Interview with Blease

Why can't i get excited about the prospect of picking him? Yeah, i've seen the video, but still. I'm thinking to myself, pick 11 is our chance to get someone who will turn out at least good, and perhaps better. But with swift, we might get nothing. I realise the potential with swift could be worth it, but pick 11 in a strong draft- one where i think it's vital we get a hit rather than a miss? If we do select him i'm going to need some solid convincing to settle my nerves.

This is my point though - We need to get over this kind of thinking.

Why would you think it would be too high? We know virtually nothing about how Hine or any of the other recruiters rank the players - This could be exactly the range that he's rated in by all of the recruiters, and we have just yet to be

You're assuming that this is a possibility, which is much akin to the assumption that we could have draft Xavier Ellis at #2 and Dale Thomas at #5. Not only was it not true, but it turned out that we had someone else entirely in mind at #5, and would've preferred to have Thomas and Pendlebury over Ellis and Thomas anyway.

We might have someone in mind at #29 that we like more than any of those three, but that we're almost 100% confident will be available at that spot, versus those three that we like and know that we'll have to use pick #11 for if we're wanting to get one of them.

Someone has had to be seriously into Beams for him to knock back the GC17 offer so he is likely to go fairly high.

I'd be happy with a Swift/Sidebottom at 11 and Beams at 29.

:o Sorry Dave, I was actually thinking of Sellar not Tippett.

Thanks for your kind advice vinnie, very helpful.

I'd doubt that - He'd only have to be sure he'd be drafted in the National Draft to make the decision to enter the draft. He'll get paid next year, this way.

Sorry Vinnie - that was pretty much what I meant. He must have had a couple of clubs speak to him to be sure of being drafted and to I'm guessing the clubs will take him reasonably early to ensure they get him.

I doubt he would go at 11 but I reckon we would jump at 29 as I doubt he would be there in the 3rd round.

But as you said, we don't really know how he is rated by the clubs.

Dayne Beams - midfielder, Southport, Qld.
DOB: 12/2/90 Ht: 184cm Wt: 81kg

He is supposed to read the play well, with good skills and a good size. He can play various positions and is competitive and level headed. Should play alot of AFL football.

(paraphrased from inside footy mag)

Seems like a very good player. Would not be unhappy with him from what i've read although havn't seen him play myself.
