Think we have found good old Timmy's mum in the thread

I agree; plus his statements post game were incredibly humble and mature. He accepted that he dropped those catches and lost his cool. He's a bloody human being after all and Test cricket is unbelievably stressful, particularly as a keeper/captain chasing a win on day 5.I suppose Rahane has been better ?
22 and 4 plus a dropped catch. Let the game slip from him on more than one occasion this test. Aust cruising along on a few occasions and zero imagination with his field and bowlers.
Lets find some excuses for his captaincy. Must be a few if we want to find them.
Paine, until yesterday perhaps, has had an excellent series including captaincy.
His match was still far better than any batsman making a dbl failure like Rahane. Orrrr any bowler having 2 ordinary performances such as Lyon or Starc.
Whenever there is disappointment at a result, the fickle mob try to isolate a scapegoat and put him out there to be eaten.
His keeping (apart from ONE day) A
His batting B+
His captaincy B+ including this game.
Austs Bowling this game C
Austs batting this game A-
I dont give a flying fk if some precious petal prefers no standard issue sledging, no controversies, no drop catches, all bowlers get 3-50, all bats make it to 50. IT DOESNT HAPPEN THAT WAY.
Paine's place and captaincy isnt even under threat. Nor should it be. Only wishful thinkers and closet fans of other nations want it to be.
He is likely to RETIRE in the next 2 years. It will become obvious when he needs to but right now he's having a good series but had 1 crap day.
Point the bone at the ordinary bowling yesterday. The captain went ordinary and took the heat for them as a good leader does. We all know the bowling was poor at best but some want to take pot shots at a guy having a good series.

Any news on will's shoulder??
If he cannot play its going to cause a lot of issues with an unfit warner
Absolute nonsense that Jhye Richardson & Glenn Maxwell aren’t in the squad. Both should be playing in the next game.
Wade to open with Warner, Green to 5, Max in at 6, Jhye for Starc
Im staggered someone thinks this is an obvious error made by the selectors.Absolute nonsense that Jhye Richardson & Glenn Maxwell aren’t in the squad. Both should be playing in the next game.
Wade to open with Warner, Green to 5, Max in at 6, Jhye for Starc
Don't bring logical stuff like that into this threadJhye hasn’t played a first class game since last summer and you want him to suddenly start bowling 20 overs a day in Brisbane?
Jhye Richardson has been on a managed workload until the middle of DecemberAbsolute nonsense that Jhye Richardson & Glenn Maxwell aren’t in the squad. Both should be playing in the next game.

Best argument for rotating the seamersHere's some food for thought regarding fatigue on a bowler. Here are Josh Hazlewood's averages based on what match of the series it is:
1st match: 21.64
2nd match: 27.41
3rd match: 22.86
4th match: 39.52
5th match: 46.80
Starc has an earlier drop off by not as drastic:
1st match: 24.04
2nd match: 24.75
3rd match: 31.67
4th match: 31.37
5th match: 52.66
The obvious caveats are that the sample size for Test 4 or 5 in a series are a lot less and that Australia usually only play the stronger nations in 4 or 5 test series (and often at the more benign MCG and SCG for the later tests). Still I thought it was interesting given Cummins doesn't have this drop off in his record. For completeness here is Cummins:
1st match: 19.08
2nd match: 23.60
3rd match: 20.64
4th match: 24.91
5th match: 20.76
Jhye Richardson is coming back from a shoulder reconstruction and was never a chance for this series. The plan for his returm from rehabilitation was always BBL10. It's hardly a travesty. It's just unfortunate timing from a set back that occurred with his injury nearly 2 years ago.Absolute nonsense that Jhye Richardson & Glenn Maxwell aren’t in the squad. Both should be playing in the next game.
Wade to open with Warner, Green to 5, Max in at 6, Jhye for Starc

I would take Jhye bowling only 4 overs a day to starcs 20 atm
So that means you want Travis head back in the side.... yea and other people are something to behold.Short term memories in this thread are a thing to behold honestly.
'Wade isn't an opener'.
Second highest run scorer after the first two tests. 3 of his 4 scores 30+. If Puc is out it's a no-brainer for mine.
'Drop Paine'
Man of the match 2 weeks ago. Bad game with the gloves this week.
We had a mare on day 5. I trust this XI to rebound though. Whichever way it's selected.

Wade is better suited for the 5th spot and Harris an actually opener averaging 100 for the season deserves a crack to open.I can handle Travis Heads inclusion. We've persisted with far worse batsmen in the past. Is he the long term solution? Unsure. But for this upcoming test he sits ahead of every other non-playing batter and it's delusional if anybody thinks somebody else would come in before him if Pucovski is injured and Wade opens.
The frustration lies with people treating their pre-conceived opinions higher than legitimate facts and statistics.
Wade is better suited for the 5th spot and Harris an actually opener averaging 100 for the season deserves a crack to open.
Huh? I clearly stated he won't be.Why on earth would Paine be dropped ?
