I thought our midfield looked a lot better with him in the centre square. He also is the sort of player who will play all 4 quarters well. Now that Ratugolea is in defence I feel we are no longer dependent on his leap back there, so I would be happy if he stays in the centre.

That would work except Ratugolea has little to no skills aside from his marking.

I said last year when we played Sydney before the finals, I wrote that I want him to tag Heeney in the middle and when he goes forward. Thought he was the only player in the team that could run with Heeney all night. It never happened.

He should be a midfielder either wing and use his all day running capacity or given a job in the middle.

Don’t think it worked with him as a wing. He’s someone who should be around the ball most of the time. Excels in contests, strong, athletic, powerful. He’s what Wines and Drew aren’t despite their bigger frames. He lacks polish but at least his possessions aren’t indecisive. If he makes a mistake it’s kicking long with power. Better than Wines’ missed handballs or hospital short kicks, or Drew’s 20m loopy kicks around the body.

We have to get the wings right. Just play Lorenz on one and Burgoyne on the other and let them settle there.

Bring Jackson in as our sixth stoppage midfielder.

Yep I’d play him on the ball from now on . Burton was quite reasonable in his role

Thought him at the centre was great. Offered a different dynamic. Seemed to be fairly contested and then broke into space.

Keep him in the midfield.

We can find another defender.

Wines is past his prime now and idk what's wrong with JHF this year but it was nice to see Bergman bursting out of congested packs with ball

The glaring issue is Bergman has to hit his targets whether by hand or by foot most of the times. He managed to negate Dawson but had some missed handballs e.g. That missed handball to Butters and he was out.

Best we can hope for is that he dominates as a midfielder for the rest of this year and we can then do a straight swap for NWM with no more added to the deal on our part. Both are very good footballers. If we do lose Bergman, then Lai has to come on and play the way Bergman does. Sinn too needs to develop a more mature, complete game and Evans needs to get back on his horse at AFL level and improve from what he showed last year.

Play him in the middle, offer him another short 2 yrs at big money, find a good job for his gf and he might stay a little longer. His star is on the rise and we need to maximise his trade value if he still wants to go.

Replaces Wines as that big bodied mid. Wines is a plodder. Bergman can at least run and carry.

There's nothing wrong with JHF except for the fact he is in a bear hug at most stoppages

A pretty good all round game for first up in the midfield.

Really frustrated with him. He has so many tools, but has no smarts, and is clumsy as well.

I don't recall him playing on Thilthorpe at all, which is frustrating, because he's the only one that we have that has the physical size and strength to go with him. Instead we played undersized on him and got outbodied time and time again.

I was baffled by that as well. Maybe Port thought Thipthorpe’s footy IQ would get the better of Ratugolea and decided he would play on a smaller opponent to make up for it.

Impressed with his first real gig in the middle - He owned Dawson, which is no mean feat. Keep him going as a mid IMO, he is wasted filling a hole back in defence. His progress over the last 10 months has been outstanding, yet he is nowhere near his ceiling! If he is going, he already has good currency, but could be the equal value of NWM by year's end, making it a win/win for Port
If he goes, we go hard for NWM as a straight swap - Win!

If we are going with him in the midfield now, we just have to play BZT. Whether he is 100% ready or not, he is still a much better option than Lachie Jones or Burton playing on a tall.

I really hope Bergman stays in the midfield.

He has a lot of athletic traits that will shine mulitfacted ways but it would be nice if his disposal by hand or foot was better.

I'd be bringing Logan Evans in and see what he can do but understand if Zerk gets a go.

If we are going with him in the midfield now, we just have to play BZT. Whether he is 100% ready or not, he is still a much better option than Lachie Jones or Burton playing on a tall.

My deceased grandmother would move better than BZT did on the weekend.

But when it became clear very very early on that the small opponent was unable to compete, why not switch it?
