As a pure forward, I agree with you. However Ladhams brings a ruck element, a chop out for Lycett that we otherwise don't have. We would literally have to play Charlie in the ruck otherwise.

With that in mind, for team balance, I'm picking Ladhams.

As I said in the post, I actually quite like Charlie rucking because I feel it gets him into the contest, gets his hands on the ball etc.

He didn't ruck today and had 3 touches at half time. Maybe Charlie works his way into the game earlier if he's 2nd ruck.

It really depends what we want our structure to be.

Charlie can't ruck at the moment. He is hobbled.

Anyone using that game as an example of Marshall’s worth is right to.

That’s all he’s worth to us!

Easy to replace. 10 possessions and 1 behind is Farrel level sh*t.

Georgiadas is so far past him it’s ridiculous.

Okay.

Who would you bring into replace him?

I'm not sure why people use Mitch being an absolute gun as a slight on Marshall. We play 3 key forwards. They aren't competing with each other.

Did some important things in the 2nd half if you can't see that you are fking kidding yourself.

In the last quarter, absolutely.

But did pretty much nothing in the first half.

His effort and work rate seemed to be up on last week, but still not enough.

We were tall today, which is ok at marvel with the roof closed. In the wet, we're in trouble with that side.

I think we're a better side when Lycett has a chop out, and that puts Ladhams in for me

we definitely didn't look too tall today. if anything they played Marshall well up the ground, lad hams was in and out of the f50 so we weren't as big up forward as we were made out to be.

georgiades , Dixon , marshall and ladhams are all pretty decent ground level players. georgiades suprisingly the worst ground level out of the 4 of them (but can make up for it with speed in a foot race anyway).

I don't think we've got any smalls that push anyone out really. there's Williams , but we've already got players who could make room for him anyway.
Works in the dry - not in the wet.

I think with Charles injury history and age (and importance to our structure), we can't afford to use him as a ruck, particularly in the centre square.

He's clearly carrying an injury already.

I do agree that we're better with him in there, but don't think we can risk it

That's fine if want two rucks but you'll have to accept Pete does zilch as a forward & marks less than Todd anywhere on the ground.
Todd did a couple of nice things in defence in the third.

Hilarious anyone would compare his stats to Dixon.

Dixon gets double teamed, tackles hard, brings his team mates into the game and goes into the ruck. The whole forward line is structured around him. He's in our top 5 most important players.

Marshall runs around essentially without an opponent, because they're usually busy double teaming Dixon. Gets beaten in simple one on ones, rarely hits the scoreboard and goes completely missing for 3/4.

Oh but 2 good marks in the final quarter so we'll pretend like all is sweet.

I could accept the arguments that he makes the team better if and only if Georgiades hadn't absolutely flown past him this year.

I agree that you can't compare their stats because Dixon takes the best defender, but this is wilfully misrepresenting what's happening. He's always got close attention from an opponent when we've got the ball.

There are zero cheap touches as a key forward, you've always got a direct opponent.

Its also a sign that oppo defenders rate his presence higher than our other forwards.
Or it shows our players lack any critical analysis of 'theres 9 opposition players on him, maybe I should find another option but our coaches want me to kick it to him anyway and i dont want to get dropped.'

Marshall needs to play up the ground and get out of Dixons way. Marshall is possibly our most elite field kick. Lets get him up on a wing kicking the ball to Dixon.

I'd like to see Marshall trialled in defence that way he'll be led to the ball instead of having to make the play himself. It might just force him to concentrate and keep him accountable and more involved in the game
Allir Allir has been found out since needing to man up on an opponent for which Marshall is more skilled out of those two. Allir Allir would need to go back to the Magpies.
What we do with out forward line is the obvious question, I'd rather try and move the ball with overlap run than try and pinpoint kick and marks via our talks up the field.

Is this a joke?
