So now it is a "reasonable" time if there wasn't prior opportunity. No wonder HTB is such a joke.
According to Ray Chamberlain on his SEN segment where he went thru the time line history of changes to HTB, reasonable time was introduced in 1948 and prior opportunity in 1996.

Is this a cut and paste article from every other year? Or is there new information, other than different sanfl coach has a giant whinge?
Imagine having a whinge about your player getting to live out their dream and be paid a decent wage as a pro sportsman rather than playing for a pie and a coke and working full time.

A decent league would use that as evidence that their program is working and tout this to their recruits. Such a pissant league honestly.

the article sounded very much like a whinge. Fact is, the SANFL is a second tier (soon to be 3rd tier) competition.

The AFL owns all the power not the SANFL clubs. Rawlings is just complaining as Norwood may loose some players.

The players sign up for the mid season draft knowing the terms laid out by the AFL. They don’t have to sign up for it, but for many of them, the mid season draft is their last chance to get onto an AFL list. So they do it, knowing they won’t get the same contract length and preseason as national draftees. As the alternative, is never getting on a list.

Regarding Geelong’s HIA of Cameron. Below is a cut and paste from the AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE REGULATIONS 23 February 2024. There is no way that these procedures were followed- especially the now 15 minutes:

Out of interest, does the policy talk about an “on field HIA”?

As they is what they claimed they did.

I just can't see this happening in the AFL. The culture is so different.

Wayne Bennett 74 years of age coaching the Dolphins - they are 4th on the ladder 6 wins 3 losses and 1 bye ( they get 3) - has just signed a 3 year $3 million deal with South Sydney.

Then there is the David Fifita saga

David Fifita has sensationally announced he has signed with the Gold Coast Titans after the Sydney Roosters said it withdrew its offer to the star forward.

Bennet is nothing but a gun for hire.

He does have 7 premierships since 1987 though but none since 2010.

He took the Bunnies to a GF they should have won; since he left, we are last.
He currently has the newest club in the league Top 4.

A gun worthy of the hire tbh.

Could of been a panther but clearly didn't want to deal the standards we set

There is no such thing as an on field HIA, that term was literally made up this week to protect Geelong from the consequences of their actions.

Coaches in the AFL do have a weird air compared to other codes, I'd have no issue if there was more movement & contracts offered and signed before departing the current club.

One way to stop clubs getting comfortable and stale.

I was going to post it yesterday, but here is the HIA section from the 2023
GUIDELINES FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF SPORT-RELATED CONCUSSION - AFL & AFLW
Developed by the AFL in collaboration with the AFL Doctors Association (AFLDA)
Issued by the AFL as a guideline under AFL Regulation 35 (‘Medically Unfit Players’)
March update for the 2023 Premiership Seasons

There is nothing about doing a HIA on field.

I know nothing about NRL, boring game, but if there's one thing that coaches bring it is that intangible spark of change and if that coach brings one hell of a reputation with them, that alone can really fan that spark.

Ironically, in the Seven Broadcast, whoever that awful sideline person is (McLaughlin?) said Port did the same thing with Drew after he was pushed into Cameron in the second quarter.

Standardised deviance? Or just this week’s “evolving community standards”?
