Preview Preview and Changes v GWS

Remembering that we have a week off before finals, I'd be happy to stay unchanged - if we didn't have a week, I would say Fritta & Spargo could benefit from a week off.

Is there any thought to resting anybody, ala Richmond? Could Gawn/OMac/Jonesy/Lewis benefit from a week off? I keep changing my mind on this.

With the pre finals bye no need to rest players. You will find gawn may spend less time in the ruck like he did against GC.

Are you kidding? The midget out , anyone in, someone that can get at least half a dozen possessions, can tackle, and kick more than 35 metres. Except the fearful JKH
You're being a bit harsh, I thought I played alright given the circumstances!

Giants have players dropping like flies too.
Actually not so much, Davis is the big worry from Saturday. We may have up to six players back on Sunday.

Kelly, Greene, William's, De Boer, Reid and Taylor.

It's more about how we manage the changes and continuity. Greene and William's particularly will be very fresh, but we could decide to play them as the best option to get them ready for finals. On the other hand no doubt the club would prefer to lock in a home EF, and losing our last two home games wouldn't be a good vibe going into finals. Inasmuch as we have a choice.

It was Williams' first game back on the weekend wasn't it? Tough spot with him, as you'd want to get him a game before finals, but only 1 game in the 2's is a big risk.

Meanwhile, slightly unrelated, but how is Isaac Cumming going? I saw him in a NEAFL game last year and am a big wrap for him.

William's is a big risk, his TOG will have to be restricted. Leon said sometinlmes you have to be bold.

Isaac is from my home town, and the first ever to make an AFL list without having to leave home at an early age, thanks to our academy. Shares a junior club with Spargo and Tiziani in fact, who did.
I'd play him every week. His disposal and poise are very good. I think Sam Taylor got in front of him because his scrapping for the ball is superior.

He's dominant at NEAFL levek, but listed players have to be.

Finlayson didn't do well on Saturday, and Heater's injury opens a door I think.

We extended his rookie contract last year till 2020 for a reason.

Edit: Somehow I confused Charlie Spargo and Kobe Mutch from the Bombers. I blame a grey moment and Monday morning. Spargo is from Albury of course, and did spend some time in our academy.

I reckon without injuries we have our best 22 sorted now.

Fritsch out for Lever
Spargo for Viney
Weid for Hogan tho personally prefer Weiderman as he is unselfish.
I expect Lewis will be in and out of the team next year. Would have Fritsch before him.

Probably Frost - although he has been excellent since coming in.

Ridiculous statement. Frost is best 22 without a doubt. Has become excellent at shutting down his opponent and has improved his disposal and decision making, not mention he actually gives us some rebound coming out of defence, which before he was put into the side was non existent during our losing streak mid year.

Yeah, the game I saw him in, I'm pretty sure he didn't come on until half time (presumably being held until they were sure he wouldn't be needed to dash off to the Gabba for the AFL game) and when he came on, he was the standout player on the ground in my opinion, and that was in a 100 point loss.

I hope he gets a solid opportunity next season and takes the bull by the horns, tho I'm quietly a little disappointed he's resigned for a few years, as I'm sure the Dees would come knocking, knowing our love for both GWS players (Tyson, Frost, Bugg, McKenna), and NEAFL players (vandenBerg, Wagner, Baker)

Spargo stays this week and a week off may help him . Could we play Jack Viney in his role as a pressure forward in the first final?

I don't hate the idea, I know he will end up in the bounce under gawns toes as he will demand it but I think having him focus on a role to help the team could he beneficial early doors. He's gonna be rusty af

Could definitely see us playing some of our best footy for the year this weekend now that the pressure has been lifted and the burden removed. We might just find another gear.

Fritsch out?. I know he's been quiet for a couple of weeks, but the guy is great by foot and gutsy as anything. Would think we'd shuffle any and all of vandenBerg, Kent, Spargo, Weideman, Hannan, Lewis and Frost before we consider leaving Fritsch in the twos next season. Obviously he could go to shit as some former VFL players do, but it seems unlikely. Hogan, Lever, Viney are all 22 locks, and its a nice problem to have, but I can't see it being too tough to nudge a few of the above out.

It's not that hard to envisage.

Our back 6 'locks' are Omac, Hibberd, Salem, Lever, Jetta.
Personally I prefer Frost as the 6th tall as he frees up lever and has been our best defender himself the last 6 weeks.
Fristch isn't a backline player anyway imo.

Midfield 6 are Viney Brayshaw Jones Harmes Petracca Gawn

Forward 6 are Tmac Hogan Melk ANB
That's 16 of the 18 who are locked in to play and 14 if you don't include frost.

Lewis Spargo Fristch AVB Weid Hannan Kent Tyson are the preferences.

Personally I like Spargo Fristch Kent AVB and Hannan of that group. It's unlikely they all stay in form and injury free so it's moot.

I just can’t wait. Really want us to pump the Giants and go into the EF full of confidence

I want us to win because our fans deserve an MCG final. The atmosphere will be awesomd

No way Fritsch isn't best 22 at full strength.

As impressive as Hannan was on the weekend it would be him out for Lever. Otherwise it would probably be Frost even though I like him as a player

Reckon Hogan is selfish? I see him doing the little things for players all the time, not just in the forward 50?

However you want to say it, I think he concentrates on his own game more than any one else in the side yep.
