PSD & Rookie draft

Overall pretty happy with the players picked by the club in all drafts this year. It is very clear we were working to specific themes/principles and never deviated from them. In the national draft, when none of the big 4 dropped, we went for best available. Once all the fairly rated talls were taken inside the top 20 we persisted with picking smalls which means we had the inside running on that one.

We have used PSD and Rookie draft to fill up with KPPs and hope we get one or two of them to come good. While some will be critical of us for rooking all 4 interstaters, the club seemed clearly focused on addressing the 'go-home' factor down the track. We have a good band of 'brothers' in the team-mates drafted and that should help us in a big way when it comes to fighting the go-home factor. Well done Moylan, Rhode and co and hope we get some nuggets from the new arrivals.

What you didn’t know: Batsanis is Peter Daicos’s nephew. His mum is Peter’s sister.

This is absolute bulldust. If Peter Daicos bumped into Batsanis he wouldn't know who he was. The only connection between the two is their fathers are from the same town in Macedonia.

Look, Batsanis is a good player but he is no star. THe modern game is around possession and this may not suit him as nearly always kicks long and it is to a contest.

batsanis will be a suprize to many, this kid knows his way around a footy field as i use to play with him, same with dave mckay who got drafted to adelaide i believe. they are both ball winers who use the ball well. both of them came from the same junior club as mark murphy and both have had the same sort of up bringing and training. i wish nathan all the best and i hope he becomes the next big thing which i am sure he will do.

cheers

Guys he loves the big games, will take him a little while to settle but yes batsanis has got a big motor. Is a very dangerous player around goals, can and will win games off his own boot.Similar to a very young , raw ,aker, backs himself and will fit in perfectly with your midfield.Had a frustrating year in 2006 lost alittle confidence but found form during the big games and ripped them to pieces .Was best afield during TAC grand final, that's when the talent scouts started giving him a bit of a look.He was devestated that no one picked him up in the national draft, but he is very excited to be part of port power. At least choco saw the value in him.He is peter daicos's cousin,so get ready port,he will be a very good pick up and you will see for yourselves,in a year or two when he develops at AFL level.Batsanis ,Boak, pearce and co here come the Power.I was hoping the pies would pick him up but malthouse is a peanut.

Apart of who? ;)

Peter Hardy has a 20m time of 3.02 that was recorded prior to the start of the season and by now he should be even quicker which suggests he will have no problems with adjusting to the pace of AFL football. Averaged only 14 touches per game but there are times when he just looks as though he has that something special. His Geelong coach thought he should have been taken in the national draft. Obviously a riskier pick but the rewards for the risks could be very good.
