Puma dumps Essendon

Was going to ask if anyone could give me a list of the current apparel sponsors but I decided to look it up myself:

This is what I found:

Adelaide: Adidas
Brisbane: Puma
Carlton: Nike
Collingwood: Adidas
Essendon: Puma/Adidas
Fremantle: Reebok
Geelong: Slazenger
Hawthorn: Puma
Kangaroos: Reebok
Melbourne: asics
Port Adelaide: Reebok
Richmond: Reebok
St. Kilda: Piping Hot
Sydney: Puma
West Coast: Puma

Interesting to see how things have changed. 5-10 years ago everyone had Adidas or Nike as their sponsor but it's surprising to see that only Collingwood and Adelaide have adidas and only Carlton have nike. Piping Hot must want to get into sports apparel and want to increase brand awareness so they must of tipped a lot of cash into St. Kilda.

I wonder if puma are pulling out of all their AFL sponsorships.

Alittle of topic here, but seen a tv program the other day on Barcelona FC and how there only shirt sponsor is Unicef, who they sponsor by way of a million dollar donation each season.. thought it very noble in todays business driven sports market. Perphaps the Bombers could look at something similar in the future.. Its nice to give alittle too.

I think AFL sponsorship works a little differently.....

The sponsor pays the club...not vice versa, or maybe you have the wording a bit mixed up.

UNICEF pay Barcelona $1,000,000.00 a year to put their name on the shirt.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand.
I don't see how who your sponsor is can really make any difference? So long as you fellas have one. The real question is there a difference in the amount they pay you?

If Puma were paying $1 million and Nike etal are only offering $500k then it is bad, if they are offering the same it is situation normal, if they are offering $1 million + then it is better.

Who really cares who the name is? It' all just overlocker junk made in Chinese sweatshops anyway...it does'nt make the team play better.
Sports gear is one of the greatest scams ever foisted on the consumer.

You pay $100 for every 10c worth of garment.

I dare any sportsware rep to contest that statement by the way.

UNICEF pay Barcelona $1,000,000.00 a year to put their name on the shirt.

Wrong! Barca pay Unicef 1.5million Euro per year for 5 years and also provide free advertising via printing Unicef's logo on their playing strip. A charity could never justify paying money to sponsor a sports team rather than using it to help those less fortunate....Unicef supportors may not like that.

Cant see it happening in AFL though as clubs rely on sponsorship to make ends meet. Not the same case with the money involved in European Soccer

personally I would prefer adidas but only because I have a close family member who works high up at Adidas, next time I see them I will try and see if they can definitely confirm it!!

What about FILA? After all they made our attire during our magnificent era of 2000 - 01. Personally, would like Nike to take over but would be happy with adidas as well.:thumbsu:

Isn't FILA better quality?

Knowing how much some of the guys like to strut (they know who they are), I reckon Armani would be good.

Imagine all the young blokes hoping to be drafted to EFC because of Armani. :D

It's definitely and Puma are definitely leaving footy over the next couple of years.
Sorry but that is not correct. Read my earlier post and you will find that they only want to have one team in every state.

Puma's football range is sold 95% to people playing AFL unlike adi and Nike that own the round ball market.

Take it or leave but thems the facts big boy!!!

Im pretty sure FILA went broke there for a while.

Puma leaving AFL all together?? There hooked up with Sydney, Hawthorn, Brisbane and Westcoast. I doubt that.

Take it from the footwear buyer @ Sportsmart...Adidas is taking you over. It came down to Either the Bombers or the Hawks and no disrepect to you guys but the Hawks are a better club to be involved with onfield ATM and they wanted to keep a team in every state..Swans, Lions, Eagles and just the Hawks.

ANZAC..PIES AND DONS BOTH SPONSORED BY ADI>>>>TICKETS 4 ME:thumbsu:

We done last week, to good and good luck in the bomber revival:)

hey. would you happen to know who's sponsoring richmond next year?

Couldn't give a rat's arse who our clothing sponsor is... and in fact with a new one coming on board they may do a broader range...

I`ve enjoyed the Puma gear (polo`s t/suit tops) More than happy to welcome Adidas back as well. IMO the worst clothing company we`ve had has been Reebok, the word shithouse springs readily to mind.

LOVE the old Reebok tracksuit.... still wear the top occasionally. Just for you windy ;)

don't quote me on this, but I reckon that cat might actually have been a puma...

bwhahahaha - nice one

as for sponsors, I couldn't really care less other than being glad to see the back of that godawful '3' logo all over everything now that samsung is moving in.
I haven't bought a new polo for a couple of years because of that thing
