Now that the adrenelin has stopped flowing, Id just like to put things in perspective a little as to the mighty fine players who DIDNT play because of injury

Pork Players Out

Matthew Primus
Stephen Paxman
Damien Hardwick
Brett Montgomery
Josh Carr
Brent Guerra
Michael Wilson

Warren Tredrea
Adam Morgan

Crow Players Out

Wayne Carey
Mark Bickley
Scott Welsh
Mark Stevens
Mark Ricciuto

Nathan Bassett

It was a good win just the same and Ill take it; but to see those omitted is pretty sobering

:)

I know he was a very good player before missing the last 2 years but lets wait and see how he comes up before rating him at the same level as he was before knee recos.

Port supporters seem to think that he will make their best 22 and would not miss a beat. So lets reserve our judgment until he actually played a real game.

Port supporters had the same perception about Lade last year and he has disappointed.

But overall I agree lets keep it in perspective and wait till we win the real one in round 5.:D

Good post TJ, as even though the game was very competitive, it was experimental & players from both sides were missing. Better to win than lose, but doesn't mean much when we play in a real showdown.

Morgan wouldn't be in Port's best 22 & there is some doubt now about Paxman too. However, Stiffy a fit Wilson is definitely in their best 22, either as an onballer or across HB.

I don't think there is any doubt about that but you would have said the same thing about Lade a couple of years ago. All I am saying is lets see how he goes before we rate him as highly as we did 2 years ago. He certaily has to prove himself with the list that port have. Lets hope he gets back to his best and doesn't disappoint like Lade has so far.

ruckmen and midfielders are different players. Lade seems to have lost a fair bit of leaping power, and has slowed down considerably. Lade was never a star before he got injured...he was a good footballer. He was poor last year. Lades better position is as a ruckmen, and he was rarely used as that last year. Rehn took a lot of 1997 to get back to his best form as well remember.

Wilson is a completely different player to Lade. For a start he is super super fit and continuously wins (except for once) all our fitness tests. It may take Wilson a while to get back to his best, but i have no doubt he will get there.

The interesting thing when you look at the players missing from both sides is that the Port absentees are mainly defenders and mid-fielders while those for the Crows are mainly forwards and mid-fielders.

As for Wilson, my money says he will make it back. As Macca19 says, he is a super super fit type who can run like the wind and has endurance which gives him a great chance. Lade on the other hand has always lacked some form of mobility, and after breaking his leg twice is even worse. I think he's gone.

If both clubs have fully fit lists by Round 5 Showdown 13 will be a 'cracker':D

Saturday nights game was very good to watch and none of the players were treating as a pre-season game it was all about state pride:D even though it was 'only' a pre-season game.

It sure was a fierce contest Marty! I know it is only a Harry Potter game but any win against the ferals is a good one! I certainly enjoyed the night!
