Burleigh beat palmy at the Gabba in 05.
Maybe, but the game I'm thinking of was definitely magpies Palmy at the coast. Big Hamill had to get carried off late. I'm pretty sure it was the year we were ****en horrid which would make it 08
Yeah it was 08
Burleigh beat palmy there too in 05
The one at grange was 2012

Hornets 2s were down 38 6 at qtr time that day. Then they kicked 20 goals to 4 after that.Yeah, was 08 at Broady. Hammers did his ankle late. Luke Scott had a set shot to put Pies in front and had to wait while they took him off, and ended up missing a pretty easy shot.
Ball went up the other end, then came back and he snapped a beauty for the match winner out of a pack.
We were down by 40+ points in the 3rd quarter.
Is playing the Granny at Metricon out of the question?
I doubt there would be enough crowd to create a great atmosphere but it gives allot of players an opportunity to play on an AFL oval.
Be a thrill for reserves players too, just a thought.
The women could play there granny on the smaller outside oval around the same time as the Under 19's prior to the reserves which saves an early start or the chix playing a night game after the seniors.
Ablett,, whilst I respect your idea here, may I comment ,, that in the year of the grand final played at Broadbeach on the saturday ( be it the subject of these last few post ), the senior comp grand final was played on the sunday at the old Cararra stadium between Southport and Morningside ,, it was a fantastic game , but wouldnt of had 1500 people there ,,, which made for a big emtpy stadium with a deflated atmosphere. My opinion is that grand finals at grassroots level must be played at the local grounds because a crowd of 3000 plus creates a great atmosphere at these grounds.
Like the QAFL grand final last season at Yeronga between Labrador and Morningside would of had a crowd of some 3000 to 3500 .. was a fantastic atmosphere.
I remember a few years ago when The Thunder played Morningside in the NEAFL grand final at Redlands... the crowd was aroun 4500 plus , electric stuff.

we are starting to get our boys back and build momentum, but I don't see how you can go past the Tigers and Magpies.
Clearly the 2 form sides of the comp, nobody has really got near either of them for 6 weeks and only a couple of points separated them when they played.
I think the Tigers will go back to back, but the Magpies are dangerous and if they can get Staker back on the park they could win it for sure.
Can't ignore Palmy for sure. However, that belting at Salk Oval from an understrength Magpie outfit put me off them a bit.
Good side though, especially at the bookends. Just don't seem to have the midfield depth of Labrador and Sherwood.
We have been written off a bit, but I think we'll come home with a wet sail. Labrador look very strong though, and while they're not a 1 man side - I think the success or failure of Sherwood will depend on the unreliable body of one Brent Staker.
Stakers body cant stand up to the regular home and away games,,, so how will it stand up to a finals series where the intensity, pressure etc steps up 2 notches ...even if it does, one ex AFL player will not make the difference in a finals game. Guys like Mills from Labrador and Emblem from Palmy have the defensive ability to nullify Staker.
Palm Beach, has endured a bad injury toll so a few of its best players over the past 5 weeks ,,, but they are still winning ,, if they get these injured players back on the park for the finals,,, they dead set will be hard to beat.
I'd argue that & say definitely one X AFL player can make a difference in a Final.
I witness Tim Allen kick 5 goals in a row in the 3rd qtr of a prelim for Mornington one game v Edithvale/aspen-dale which turned the game in Morningtons favour.
And I'm sure there's many more stories like this one.
Staker could kick a bag & be the difference.
Ablett,,
agree ,, yes a ex afl player that has been on the park regularly will have the ability to do this,,, but in Stakers scenario, no ,, I disagree ,,
