Review QF: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. Collingwood

The problem is, we now know something about some of our guys we didn't before.

Thilthorpe, Fog, Soligo, Dawson, Peatling etc et cetc

None stands up to finals pressure.

If this is the result of the rebuild, we're ****ed.

Bit of an absurd statement to make given most of them have played 1 finals game in their career so far - tonight.

We have 4 players that fit that category are TT, Rankine, Dawson, Rachele. We were missing 2 of ours and the other 2 didn't have the impact they needed to.

The difference was that Collingwood's game winners came to play - Elliot/Sidebottom combined for one less goal than our team, DeGoey dominated the midfield and Moore had 13 intercepts and 10 marks.

Our coach got his ass absolutely handed to him. Bond on Elliot? The change to put Max on him should have been made within the first 3 minutes when Elliot rag dolled him in a marking contest and kicked Collingwoods first. Bond to Sidebottom and Max to Elliot was the move. Nicks letting Moore be unchecked was probably Nicks and Murrays worst move. Cost us the game.

For having had so many games without a final - Keys, FOG, Hinge and Milera were all extremely disappointing tonight.

Peatling was terrible, but I think he has been carrying something over the past 5-6 weeks. Hasn't looked right.

And finally to our most over rated Crows player this year - Isaac Cumming

Anyone who was at the game would clearly know this wasn't the case. Aside from Houston, Quaynor copped the loudest boos. Heck, the boos for him were probably even louder than for that thug.

It was honestly an embarrassment, and that's made the club public enemy #1 for all the wrong reasons.

I was on the Hill and the boos directed at Quaynor were the most prominent to me. There was even one bloke saying Collingwood are a 'bundle of sticks'. It took me a sec, then I got it. It was disgraceful.

De Goey = best game I have ever seen him play. A player built for finals. Then Ned Long with his 9 tackles

Thilthorpe, Fogarty, Cumming, Keays, Peatling all learnt the hard way.

Worrell and Soligo were very good in such tough circumstances.

Would have Rankine helped? = Maybe. Would have he changed the result? = unlikely. At least Rachele returns next week but this will be a huge and new experience for him too. At least we are not playing Collingwood but still anything can happen.

Collingwood could easily play Fremantle in their preliminary final just saying.

Cant believe ppl upset Laird went to the middle, only player looked like winning a clearance....smart coach does this at start of game not after watching 4 games of us getting smashed in the middle, what has Nicks been watching, enough of this guy ....spurt Milera jr Pedlar thru there. . .do something.

The frustration is that we've had the entire season to try and develop alternative midfield options - and we've refused to do so, so we're left with no choice.

It was ****ing obvious all season, it was always going to come back to bite us - and it has been magnified hugely by the loss of Rash and Ranks.

A pro-active, strategically minded coach would've tried to find more quality midfielders on our list, instead of giving Murphy, Smith, Schoenberg etc random games throughout the year.
