GOOD: Luke Pedlar

Have held high hopes for this bloke since he was drafted and touted as an excellent mid-forward.

Injuries have savaged him. But still only 23. Has at least 5-7 good years ahead of him.

I really hope this is the start of him becoming great for us. He will gain so much confidence from playing a lone hand up forward in such a huge game.
If there was something good to come from last night (that and Curtin looking cool under pressure) it was the form of Pedlar.

So far most of his goals this season have come against the Spooners, so it was very pleasing to see.

Played like someone in their first final. That kick back into the corridor from the back flank changed the momentum of the match and possibly cost us the match.
Absolutely this. It was the defining moment. We were off our game, flummoxed, yet had clawed to the front. After this Collingwood kicked the next 6 goals and there was the game.

Collingwood just harder at the footy all night and we played reactionary footy. Not enough players putting their heads over the ball. I don't think we could play much worse.
Yep you could see that we weren't harden enough. Finals footy is different to the games we play during the season. We must learn and we need to learn bloody quickly or we will be out next week. We need to get adjusted to the next level and regain our confidence. With that will come composure. Can we do that in a week.. Not sure. Hope we can. If we can then I believe we could still win the flag.

Jeez jeffy (whoever you are now)... who would have thought our transition would break down under real frontal pressure...

That said, considering it was our first final as a group, playing a hardened, mature team with finals experience, that's not a performance we should be throwing the toys out over. Players and coaches will be better for the experience. I just hope the coaching staff learn that defending deep for 120 minutes is not going to win you too many games of finals footy.
Nicks' obsession to park our attacking flair and lock in a dour defensive gameplan for weeks on end has ****ed us sideways three seasons in a row. Each time, we think he's learned his lesson...but no.

Ugly:
Booing Isaac Quanynor, if you boo'd this man you are the problem. Have a good hard look at yourself, its disgraceful and you made the Adelaide Football Club look like the biggest hick, jackass, backward, sore loser organisation of ferals and in turn Collingwood also look like the squeaky-clean darlings of the AFL, congrats they are the good guys now.
You were going so well,...until this utter bullshit.

I was prepared to give Keays some benefit of the doubt that his call was possibly meant to draw away defenders and give Thilthorpe an even easier path to goal. But...

Stealing from Reddit again. But the similarities stick out dramatically.

It's Thilthorpe again choosing a bad short passing option. And again it's to a senior player (Dawson this time) demanding the ball when he shouldn't be.

In this case Dawson is also flat-footed, not paying attention to whether he's open enough to take the mark, not paying attention to whether he's open enough to immediately play on, facing the wrong way so he doesn't have any idea if there's anyone to kick to, and does have the knowledge that the only player who could benefit from a blind quick bomb forward is the one who just kicked it to him.

Bonus points for how switched off the rest of the side is in the periphery.

So youre braindead ??

Thanks for clearing that up, I should have known after just over 100 posts in 16 years.
Go easy on the poor girl.

Let her have something to cheer about.

Port have been nothing but shit all year...and it's been wonderful.

Keays calling for the ball was monumentally stupid and inexcusable, and Thilthorpe giving it to him was very dumb but perhaps a little bit excusable
He failed to execute the handball properly too - like it if had properly gone to Keays it would have been alright, but it didn't and... was a mess.

Absolutely, Quaynor should totally be booed for all that... stuff... he did

Like... the first stuff, and...

the other stuff.

I'm sure it was deserved.

Totes makes sense.

This is where Brodie Smith thought he could kick a goal from, with 6 minutes to go, with free players inside the 50

Open player arms out, 3 players in front of him with space.

Meh.

My guess is Thithorpe deferred to Keays behind him, thinking Keays had better vision on who was likely to run down TT attempting the open kick. He would have assumed a senior leader like Keays would both be correct about the defensive pressure on TT, and be in the open to actually receive and execute, neither of which was true.

I doubt Thilthorpe will make that mistake again

Outside of the brain fade 70m shot at goal, I actually thought Smith played pretty well when brought on. Probably good having an experienced player as sub for a final to not be overawed by the occasion.

Outside of the massive mistake where he was overawed by the occasion and arguably cost us a goal (and any chance of coming back..), he had 6 touches and 3 turnovers.

His experience doesn't have value.

Good coaching would have given the players clear instructions to not kick it near Moore.
Yes!!
... or even put someone tall and mobile on Moore to make him earn those intercept marks??
Similarly Naicos was very effective and kicked cleverly to his teammates under very little pressure --- it's very difficult to do those fancy outside-of-the-foot passes and heavily-angled passes if you've got someone tackling you.
Nicks, uselessly, did nothing about either of them.
Exactly like when we play Port, keep it well clear of Aliir.
Yes again, and Moore is better than Aliir; both are dangerous on the rebound.

For all those not condoning the booing during the game this is for you.

Who are you to lecture those that booed at the game as to who is right and who is wrong? You are virtually doing the equivalent of pretending your feigned outrage is somehow the moral high ground and you are superior. But under whose authority? The media are only jumping on this for two reasons. 1. its a new story they can get for ratings and click bait 2. To pad their own personal portfolios. Notice how I didnt mention Quaynor? because they dont give a shit about him. Just like they dont give a shit about anyone they tread on for ratings and clicks.

Just like how the media didnt care about Rankines well being as they camped out the front of his house. Like what kind of low lifes are you siding with. The media are a bunch of fake assholes.

The opposition is just up in arms because...oh you booed our player..

you must be some kind of 'ist' or 'ic' that suits the narrative.

So whose authority?

Basically who the **** do you think you are?

Edit: take a look at those who laugh at this post. Im not surprised.
