We are into our 28th season of this competition and there have been roughly 2000 players play a game of qootball. That averages out to around 70 new players each season. Of those 28 rookie classes, it is interesting to see who of your fellow debutants are still running around today. From all the way back in season one, when there was 143 players signed to the competition right through to today, the question has been asked, who is still here?

In this thread, I will be going through all of the players that are still playing that debuted between season 1 and 24 with a little something on them.

SEASON 1

The OG, the first season, the one that started it all. Season one had 143 players start the competition and only 3 of the remain in the game today. Those three players are none other than Bears godfather hilly, Swamprats great Macca19 and longtime Roy, Roylion. Now these blokes may not be spring chickens, and are rarely seen around the league, they command and deserve great respect from all players in the SFA both past and present. These guys are the last remaining three from the first ever founding season of SFA qootball. These guys are the reason we can play this great game week in and week out.

hilly

Fast approahing 200 SFA games, hilly did miss some time during the middle stages of his career, but is back with his beloved Bears where he has played 142 of his 196 career games. hilly had brief stints at the Junkyard Dogs (12 games), Darkness Eternal (32 games) and the West Coast Wonders (10 games). Rarely seen since coming back into the competition, hilly has yet to post this season, but is one of the main reasons that the Bears franchise exists.

Macca19

In the top 30 of all time games played, Macca has played the majority of his career at the Sin City Swamprats (269 out of 296) and is another poster that is not around much these days, having not posted since season 21. Plenty of hard work early days to help make this competition what it is, Macca was the inaugural captain of the side, captaining them for their first four season in the league. Before starting the Alberton Swamprats in season 4, Macca played 27 games for the Mount Buller Demons.

Roylion

Roylion has had a long and illustrious career with the Dingoes, Wonders and Roys, currently sitting at 13th for all time games played in the SFA with 355 total. Roylion debuted for the Dingoes (12 games) in season 1, before jumping to the Wonders (18 games) during the Roys dark days and then the Roys for the remainder of his career. Roylion captained the club in it's early days and is considered as one of the greatest Roys of all time, and is the most active of the three season 1 debutants, having posted at least a handful of times over the last few seasons, however is yet to be spotted so far in season 28.

snore fest coming up 😴

SEASON 2

After a successful first season, the great Mobbenfuhrer decided that he wanted in on his own action, and thus joined the league in season 2 which everyone finds weird to this day. But alas, season 2 saw two teams fold from season one, with the Dingoes and Team Timmy, and saw Darkness Eternal, Hurricanes and Razors join Team Pump, BigFooty Dragons, Pagan Ducks, Seventh Wonders and Team Kournikova. With these new teams, brought new players, of which 103 rookies debuted in season two of the Sweet FA. Of those 103 rookies, only 6 of them remain.

dogs105

dogs105, to me, was only ever known for one thing, being horrendously bad at werewolf games. He is now known for two things. Being Horrendously bad at werewolf games, and being one of the oldest campaigners in the league. Whilst he may not have the games under the belt like many others that started in the early days (having played just 15 games for the Razors and 115 for the Wonders for a total of 130), he can still claim to be around longer than almost everyone. He is still an active member of the SFA and contributes positively to the league.

dougthelegend

Doug debuted in season 2 for the Razors and played 30 games for the club. Then in season 4, doug went rogue and started a somewhat biased team in the Bigfooty Bombers. Doug was the inaugural captain of the side and was a part of the winning premiership sides of season 7 and season 9. Being retired from season 10 to 15, Doug made a comeback after the Bombers won the season 14 flag, but has scarcely been seen since, having not posted here since round 4 of last season. He still deserves a spot on the Bombers list though, whether he is playing or not.

Mobbs

Mobbs is god, he created all of this but only joined in the second season, what's up with that? Answers please Moobs...
Apart from that, Mobbs has played the second most games all time, behind only Ljp86, which includes 12 games for the Hurricanes in his debut season, 26 games for the Mod Squad and then 396 for the Roys, putting him at a total of 434 games played. There's nothing Mobbs hasn't done in this league, and there is a reason the league BnF is named after the great man. Still a great presence in match threads, and always doing his bit to improve his brain child each and every season. Hats off to you Mobbs.

Mr Eagle

Mr Eagle is another long time servant of the game and is only a few short of 300 games played in total. He started with the Seventh Wonders where he played 18 games and since then played 22 with the Mod Squad, 43 with the Magic and has settled as an all-time Hawk great, playing 214 games for the East Side, putting his total games played at 297. Mr Eagle won a flag in just his second season, when the West Coast Magic lifted the trophy after defeating the Demons by 10 points. Unfortunately for most, the former Hawk captain has not been spotted since the Hawks bitter finals exist.

TheMase

TheMase is a strange case, with the promising rookie making his debut 25 seasons ago, yet only managing 102 total games throughout his career. He debuted for the Hurricanes and played 37 games across two seasons before taking a 13 season hiatus, to return to the Southern Dragons in season 16. He only managed 43 across five seasons with the team before slipping into retirement again. TheMase then resurfaced last season and played all 20 games for the Rats. His first post back after 2 and bit years away from the league consisted of "Go Rays", so it's safe to say TheMase has never been strong in the posting category, but did enough to justify going around again this season.

WaLkEr_ThE_StAr

One of the strangest usernames in all of BigFooty, Walker currently holds the record (soon to be lost) for playing the most amount of SFA games without ever having played 100 games for a single club. 344 total games in his time in the league, Walker has played for the Razors (13 games), Blues Brothers (27), Wonders (46), Hawks (98), Demons (62) and now Gumbies (98). If he keeps his spot in the Gumbies side, he will play his 100th game for the club next weekend, breaking the non-100 club record which will be passed on to okeydoke7 (284 total games at 7 clubs). In terms of posting, Walker is active enough to get a game each week, but there is nothing special to see here.

:tearsofjoy: That's good s**t.

Has a new season started?! I posted during the Grand Final.

Anyway I disagree about not being a spring chicken as I am a king of the meme (or meem) but the rest is spot on.

You are literally the worst.
I didn't want to play in the game while I was running it. I passed on Admin-shipiness halfway through S02 to EKA, and shortly after enrolled to play, the Hurricanes grabbed me. The Half Back
Taking the anti-@boncer34 approach to adminship.

Your new captain obviously hates you.

SEASON 3

We're into the third season of the SFA now and there was a further 120 players and 3 teams added to the league. The Bigfooty Dragons disbandoned, but the league welcomed the Roys, Magic and Furies, as well as some name changes to the Pagan Ducks (now Junkyard Dogs) and Team Pump (now Mt Buller Demons). A ten team comp that proudly boasts some big names, but the only three remain to this day.

Dingster

Sitting equal-20th all-time for most games played, Dingster started his career with the Junkyard Dogs as has been nothing less than a servant to the league for many seasons now. He manages to play 37 games for the Dogs, before they folded and has spent the bulk of his career at the Las Vegas Bear (180 games). However, he has had small stints at other clubs such as the Mod Squad (48 games), the Sin City Swamprats (44 games) and West Coast Wonders (27 games), giving him a total of 329 total games. Dingster is still very active to this day and does plenty of behind the scenes work to help the SFA run smoothly.

larrikin

The iconic froffy glass avatar has been gracing our screens for many seasons, with larrikin debuting for the West Coast Magic many many moons ago. He mustered up 39 games for the club before bouncing around to the Wonders (10 games) and Mod Squad (23 games) before settling in as one of the greatest Hawks of all time (currently on 316 games played and has a medal named after him). Larrikin was part of the season 3 premiership winning Magic, and also played ruck in the Hawks one and only flag is season 12. He doesn't often say much these days, but what he does say is usually quality.

rfctigerarmy

Soon to be the greatest one-club player of all time, rfc started his long journey back in season 3 and has been one of, if not, THE single greatest clubman the Furies have ever seen. Creating the club and captaining it for it's first 3 seasons, rfctiger created the greatest dynasty this league has ever seen when he took his Furies to five grand finals in 7 seasons, yielding four premierships. He played in all four and missed out on the season 20 cup, but with 409 games played for the Furies, not only is he one of just six SFA players to achieve the 400 milestone, but he is only 3 games behind iDon for most games at a single club (412). He has been picked this week and will draw one closer. He is not seen around this parts much anymore, but his legacy will live on with the Furies for many seasons to come.
