The simple response should be “then don’t make dumb decisions”.
I havent read the comments, but if they are playing the man and not the ball then its the right thing to say.
If its just criticism of the decision then its a bit weak

Because it's a sh1t decision. We have a perfectly ready replacement for a midfielder in draper.

Surely Balme is standing right next to Nicks watching him dig a grave, Nicks unaware the grave is his.
Murphy has stolen the limelight but selection failures elsewhere in playing all of Fog, Tex, Smith and Laird.
If Fog isn't struggling with his shoulder then he is very out of form. If he is not injured then Tex should be rested to help Fog gain form - if possible in Launceston.
And to L Murphy, I genuinely hope you surprise me and play a great game, but don't expect any recognition. As your coach has advised, the good you bring isn't visible watching a game live at the ground or on TV, all we will see is 3 of 4 kicks butchered, 2 holding the balls and a lot of random running around. I hope the invisible stuff is great.

What a pissweak, braindead, weak, soft, short sighted, unambitious selection. There is no chance that Murphy is the best option for this week or the future.
I seem to remember being told repeatedly that with Murray Davis behind the scenes we wouldn't see these selections. Well apparently our glass is very thin because our "break glass" options are the first ones selected as soon as we have an unforced out.
Not only that, but only this club would see he had his papers stamped as a small forward, and then not realise it's because he's not a good footballer, she instead play him elsewhere in the SANFL just so they could have justification for selecting him in either position as soon as they could.

To be fair guys it was a tough decision.
Murphy with a solid 7 possession average and a spectacular 4th quarter disappearing act or Draper with his 9 possession average but investment in the future or Dowling with 20 possessions and goal kicking ability.

Nicks is the campaigner.
like I am sure Murph is a great bloke and he is just copping the Mitch Marsh treatment. Can't blame him for putting his hand up for selection, he has busted his ass for 20 years to be where he is.
Nicks on the other hand can fck right off for his cowardly selection, baseless smugness and tactical ineptitude.
Our next premiership coach
Sad to say our next premiership coach might not even have been born yet. A real winner has little to no chance of slipping past our incompetent board.

It’s not just Murphy, but also Smith.
They rank highly amongst our preferred depth options over Draper, Taylor, Dowling, Edwards, Nankervis, Bond. Not even tempted to give Jones or Cook one last crack at it.
