Was doing it for 4 quarters in the SANFL, but we know that there is a huge step up in speed etc from SANFL to AFL.
What I did like about him is he wasn't afraid to really stick a tackle hard when he did lay one. Very nice technique with it too, always pinning the arm as well. Not all our guys do that.

Really dumb post. Sloane finished in the top few of last years b&f and is a past winner. Has played one poor game in a row and you expect people to view him in the same light as VB and Mackay. That's straight up nuts.

Also, can you explain how Mackay's pressure acts mean he's had a good game, whereas Sloane's seem to be meaningless. There's your 2 sets of rules and rampant hypocrisy.

Stop picking on waynetta's world :p

Ok now Crouch has been cleared I would do the following:

In: Henderson, Hartigan, Knight
Out: VB, Mookay, Cheney

I feel we went in too small down back against the Roos. Whilst Cheney is serviceable he is his own worst enemy, but he can't help it. He is 2-3 inches short of being that 2nd key defender. He is great depth cover but feel he isn't best 22. Maybe we wanted him in there due to a faster track at Etihad? However I felt in the end it hurt us as Waite and Petrie got on top late. We need Hartigan's extra size for Dixon, Westhoff etc.

Henderson is a no brainer for me. I feel he only played SANFL on the weekend for touch and match fitness. He comes in to do the VB role, but without the fumbles. I swear VB couldn't one grab his own nuts. I'm a huge fan of a fit Henderson so get him in ASAP.

Last one is Knight in for Mookay. Look I don't think MacKay was bad on the weekend, but Knight's form can't be ignored. Also he is the future so why not give him that chance. However this change is neither hear nor there for me. Happy to give him another shot. Another possibility is Knight in for McGovern. I am all for giving the kids a go but as key forwards its a tougher game. I still feel he's not AFL ready and hence not really seeing the ball at all hurts his development. Send him back to the SANFL and hopefully by the 2nd half of the year he is flying and ready to make a real impact at AFL level.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hendo back, but:
(a) he's a bit of a slow starter after missing game time, and might benefit from more time in the SANFL.
(b) I don't want him playing anywhere he can be isolated in defence.

Milera and Mcgovern will stay in the team. They both had promising first afl games. Both missed crucial shots at goal in the second half but both looked dangerous whenever they were near the footy. If Milera goes out it will be for Cameron. Hopefully he puts in a strong performance saturday and retains his spot.
Im predicting 1 change knight in for vb.
Hartigan and cey outside chances. Its just who do you see being dropped for them..
Is Cheney a reasonable matchup for schultz?

I'm thinking Henderson for VB and maybe Milera out but not sure for who. Selectors won't make wholesale changes as it was an away game. Watch a number of players step up this week.

No way I would be dropping Milera. Kid is absolute silk and class. He will get better with every game. Being more on ball means he gets to see the pill a lot more than a forward (McGovern).

This is the team i wanted to see for rd1 but unfortunately knight and cc were too underdone coming back from injuries to be considered.. Its a really, really quick side that has plenty of weapons. Hopefully rd 2/3 we see it.

I think Senior players only need the 1 game back in the SANFL. He's not known for getting isolated in defense either. More a half back/wing player. Helps free up Smith and Seedsman onto the wings. Anything has to be better than what VB dished up.

Question folks.

Can Milera, Cameron, Menzel and Betts all
play in the same side?

No.... I think 3 of the 4 can.

Menzel (when fit), Betts and Milera can all rotate through the midfield. I feel charlie misses out.

Now having said that because of Menzel's poor fitness base I feel we will see more Cameron this year than Menzel. In the longer run though I feel Menzel is a much better player than Cameron.

Milera will turn out to be better than all of them. He will be very similar to Wingard..... minus the flog :D

Oh there was a nice bit of mongrel about our SANFL team that I liked seeing on the weekend.

Yet, Charlie has trained with the midfield group on the wing over summer, so there goes that part of your argument. All four can play midfield minutes in the future. Menzel is the one who lacks the fitness base atm, but I have faith we can get him there.

do not agree. menzel is a midsized forward/mid when he gets his tank and can almost be a robbie gray mid with stints forward if his tank gets large enough. betts should be mainly forward with bursts in mid. cameron same with bursts on wing. milera will/should be an out and out mid with stints at hb.

most permanent forward line:
HF: Menzel Walker Lynch
F: Cameron Jenkins Betts

knight/douglas rotating through wing/mid and hf

Just because he trained with them doesn't mean he will be qualified or better than the rest to play through the midfield.

Fitness is the easiest thing to work on as long as you have the right mindset and are willing to work hard. All indications from the club is Menzel is willing and is doing this.

Gray is a poor comparison. You should be comparing Menzel to Wingard.

Gray plays mostly mid with stints up fwd. Now on the weekend I would have said it was more 50/50 but that was because he was the only one kicking goals and keeping them in the game.

Whilst a few will mock me Supercoach is a great indicator of this. Gray has gone from a Mid/Fwd in 2015 to a pure Mid in 2016. They use heat maps and % time spent in each area of the ground to determine these positional changes.

i know very well how much menzel and wingards talents are alike. i just think if he gets a tank, with our forward line of so ridiculous already hell at least be a 50/50 mid/fwd or more like gray.

He's very raw but I liked the fact we played him in Round 1. We've not been known for that in the past.

Also, he was born in September 1997. Clearly an omen. As well as making some people here feel old as ****, I'd imagine.

Not jumping to his defence. Just wanting to clarify whether we pick a team to beat Port or the team that will play the next 50 games?

The words "if line ball" were used but you chose to ignore them to jump on the "play the kids at all costs" strawman. It's written very clearly and immediately renders your response irrelevant at best.

Only fitness is stopping this.

Milera is a midfielder, and initially could be blooded on a back flank if we have a glut of forward options.

Cameron can play wing/flank.

Betts mainly forward with midfield spurts as he does now.

Menzel the massive X-factor. Please Troy get fit ASAP!! He could be an absolute jet with the right work ethic and I think could play whatever split of mid/forward is required.
