The issue with playing Talia, Lever and Hartigan is what happens when they play Westhoff up field and go with a small forward line (Gray, Wingard)? The beauty of someone like Jeremy McGovern is that he can cope on a genuine key forward, a resting ruckman and a mobile forward. Makes their defence very versatile.

I feel sorry for Pyke. We have watched VB gradually becoming more and more ineffective, but in matches that count he's only seen him play once.

Nobody tried harder than VB - he tries his guts out - but his re-action time is too slow now which leads to clangers and turnovers, and his time has come.

Does Pyke give him one more chance (in his eyes) or does he bite the bullet?

That bullet needs teeth marks in it IMO.

I don't know why we spend entire seasons realising certain players are shit; and then forgetting it next season.

Bench is predominantly for the midfielders. You want your backs to play the bulk of the time. Can't waste too many rotations on defenders.

One them would go right him, we wouldn't just let westhoff roam wherever he wants unchecked. Makes Shaw an option, he can play smaller than Hartigan.

Where VB features within Pyke's plan is all within Pyke's control

It's a tough start to the season and Pyke needs to make some "Captain Calls" on some players
