Smith for Laird as rebounding role.
Cumming for ANB as wingman with Curtin & Cook.
ANB replaces Pedlar more forward, with perhaps some Cook too.

This is exactly what a few of us said - not blooding other options earlier in the year, or in softer games, has now left us in a position where Smith is the next best choice.

In isolation, his selection does make sense, but it's as a result of mistakes made previously.

Maybe at the time. What’s critical about this game though is that good teams turn our games into slogs to limit our damage on the turnover. We’ve seen Hawthorn, Collingwood, Brisbane, and Geelong (second half) do this already.

I don’t think the dogs ever had the personnel to do that. We proved in that game that we can beat anybody in a shoot-out, but we’re not likely to encounter many shoot-outs in finals.

It's a bigger test for Hawthorn. To come over here where we've only lost once this year.

There's more question marks over their form than ours.

Yup, for whatever reason, just didn't manage to overtake Smith this year.

Still, a big preseason can rectify that rather quickly on Charlie's part. Especially as Smith will be gone next year.
