Just Nicks being stubbon and insisting on maintaining the 3 talls structure despite the cattle.

He has repeatedly stated that we have the luxury of playing 3 talls because they're so talented and apply great pressure. Well Burgess provides neither of those, so why not go smaller?

Just arrogant stubbornness by Nicks.
OR a free hit today?

Balme selects Murphy and Burgess when needed.

We don't select differently in any way shape or form to the rest of the league. The league doesn't give a shit about the future and is completely obsessed with structure.
Sometimes you have to recognise structure only works if the players selected have borderline AFL ability. These three do not.

I still think Murray's performance is the most worrying. He made multiple selfish errors early when his eyes lit up seeing a 60m goal. And continued to make bad errors of judgement with over-ambitious aggressive play throughout the game.

Murray plays fairly aggressively as a defender, crashing packs, leaving his man, etc. But he'd currently be behind Worrell and Keane in the pecking order, both of whom also play the same way. I don't think he realises he's competing with Jordon Butts for the "sensible shut down" defensive spot.

I’ve always said we need that reliable big body shut down defender who’s only concern is to blanket his opponent. I think we look better with butts in

The cosmos had decided it was time. This game was lost before it began.

We were up against both West Coast and the intangible forces of our invisible enemies. These are the unique tests we face as the Adelaide Crows.

This group was good enough to resist the advances of this supernatural evil, leave with 4 points, dignity intact, averting one of the great boil overs of the modern game in the process.

I tend to flick through the tracker on the afl app after a game to see the trends.

Our work rate was way off today. Nowhere near as many kms run by the team as usual. Average speed in defence was way down meaning we just didn’t hit the contest with any pace.

The stats don’t lie. Hawks match our numbers were through the roof.

Perhaps the boys got ahead of themselves and thought they’d have a week off - almost cost them the game.

Several players very down today. Jones, awful. Burgess, a non-factor until the last ten minutes and barely even then. Curtin's worst game in a fair while, Keays got a goal but was mostly useless, Bond mostly ineffective, Murray well beaten and made some awful blues, Berry below par, ANB below par. Even Pedlar was mostly anonymous despite the three goals.

When you have that many players not performing to their level (or simply not good enough - thanks for coming Jones and Burgess) that's what happens.

Thank goodness for Dawson, Rankine, Soligo, Taylor, Thilthorpe and Keane who wanted to win that match. Credit to Cumming and Worrell for quality games, too.
ANB was our worst pretty much along with Berry Keays and Milera just too many fell in a hole they all need a kick up the arse

Fog was well held. Could not clunk a mark in the F50. We’ve got away all year with our above average inside 50 Efficiency. Today was well done at 43%

He is definitely a Jekyll and Hyde player.

First 10 games of 2025 he kicked 25 goals.

Last 10 games of 2025 he has kicked 12 goals.

Hopefully he can recapture the first half form for the finals.

Butts is definitely ahead of him. I actually think we are best with Butts and then one of Keane or Murray and currently it’s Keane by a mile. I’m a fan of Murray but our team structure has gone past him at the moment. I’m deeply concerned about him in finals

We’ve had a few up weeks we were due to have a down game. Credit to the boys finding a way to win when things weren’t going their way.

Huge wake up call. Think the boys could have been getting ahead of themselves after the Hawks game and top the ladder (I know most on here were). Hopefully makes the boys realize there’s a lot of work still to be done.
Best post in here and sums up the situation. Can’t believe some of the hesterics

What about pre and post shoulder injury, does that change much?

Credit to the Weagles, thought they be in 'roll over, one step on the plane to Bali' mode but fully turned up and we were about 10% off.

Hopefully that's the wake up call we needed to fine tune things. Can absolutely bank on us not being that lethargic and off against the Pies at the AO Saturday night ibn front of 52,000+

Thank god for TT, Rankine and Dawson..... Class always wins games.

Before getting injured against Collingwood Murray was at that level and providing reliable drive from defence. Took a while to find that form and looks like it again. I would persist as when at his best, he's better than Butts.
