BOG

5. Goodwin - was everywhere today, could not have done without his run though his ball use could have been better
4. Skipworth - forward line opportunist, exactly what we needed
3. Thompson - superb worker across half forward, faded a bit as the match went on
2. Johncock - how many times did he save us in the first half? another excellent game sweeping across half back
1. Reilly - good preparedness to run and find space

BTM

3. Mattner - could have put him in the BOG votes, but I'll put him here for his tackling and shepherding
2. Torney - another quality game at half back
1. Rutten - kept Rocca reasonably quiet

Just a point - does Rutten get Rookie votes because he's the only Rookie playing???

Again today he was badly beaten by Rocca in conditions that definately did not suit Rocca.

Outmarked, outbodied and lead to the ball by Rocca, it's hard to see how he gets any votes on todays effort?

Rocca kicks 2 goals and you say Rutten had a bad game? He was also a linkman up the ground

Rutten's the only rookie, but you're allowed to abstain.

If there are more abstains than Rutten votes then Rutten doesn't register a vote in the final tally.

I think you're being a bit harsh though. Rutten took six marks and was able to drag Rocca up the ground.

Badly beaten by Rocca? You have to be joking me. That's rubbish.

And where is Biglands in people's votes? We've been crying out for a big game from him and he was very good.

QUOTE]We obviously saw the game differently - but Rocca could have easily kicked 4 - one just missed and one he passed of needlessly.

He kicks 4 goals in conditions not suited to him and applying the Skipworth rule he's almost BOG

But it doesn't happen so Rutten therefore has beaten him - strange logic if you ask me.

Probably played his best game for the year in conditions not suitable for him - yep well done

Basing the quality of a player's performance on saying he 'could have' kicked 4 goals. HE DIDN'T. HE KICKED 2.1 And Skipworth kicked 4.1.

Perrie 'COULD HAVE' taken about 15 marks and kicked 4 goals. Applying your rule, he is the best key forward ever.

What absolute trash to base an argument for a player on their potential for performance. He missed a shot. Perrie missed 3. He passed off a goal he was NO CERTAINTY to kick. To a player arguably in better position.

What trash. What a stupid way to rate a player's games. 'Could haves' get you nowhere. What actually happened is all that's important.

What a hard-fought game by the Crows. Very happy with the win. :)

2. Skipworth - 4 goals great effort.
1. Bassett - was accountable all day, fantastic spoiling

BTM
3. Biglands - great game, rucked beautifully to our advantage finally.
2. Bassett - plays with his heart on his sleave every week
1. Thompson - what a hard nut.

ROY

ROOKIE

Ben Rutten.

POTY

5 - Scott Thompson - Have I said how much I rate this bloke. Fantastic pick up and his best game for the club. Died out in the 4th but thats expected with limited pre-season
4 - Hayden Skipworth - Well ******** me sideways!!!!!! He was simply superb. His little sensational burst in the 2nd quarter was breath taking and for him to kick a winning goal under intense pressure and arguably outside his range is a SUPER effort. Keep it up lad.
3 - Simon Goodwin - REALLY unlucky not to be further up in the votes. Have we missed him over the last couple of years or what. I heard a very interesting stat on my way home, Goody got 22 out of his 28 touches in 2nd and 4th quarters (11 touches in each). He is back to his best.
2 - Ian Perrie - Unlikely to get votes from anyone else but I thought he played his role very well. He was the only one key target up there for us and had he kicked straight he would have been further up in the votes. If he doesn't mark it he brings the ball to the front of the pack.
1 - Graham Johncock - Was probably BOG at half time. Died out a bit in the second but plays that sweeper role very well

Best Team Men
3 - Ian Perrie - Se above
2 - Nathan Bassett - Epitomy of a team man. The way he cover for his team mates is simply superb. Some of the spoils under pressure were sensational. I can't speak highly enough of this lad.
1 - Jason Torney -Apart from the first quarter I thought he did a very good job on Grant who has been in sensational form so far this year. Another one of those under-rated players.

Rookie
Rutten - Did a reasonable job on Rocca and played well as a linkman coming out of the backline. Put the pressure back on Rocca by running off him when ever he could.

Sarge has taken a couple of rippers today. Hudson took a beauty on the members side wing in the 4th.

That Skippy goal was a ********er :D

Player of the Year
5. Goodwin - Had to give him BOG. Superb 2nd and 4th quarters, his disposal and class was a level above everyone today. 28 superb touches in wet conditions.
4. Skipworth - The game-breaker and game-saver. Has an amazing purple patch and sealed the game for us with a 45-50 ( ) meter goal. Keep it up little fella. :)
3. Thompson - His best game for the club. Kicked a nice goal and had a superb 3 quarters. Died at the end but that's what a real pre-season's for.
2. Johncock - Had a very good first half and I couldn't go past giving him votes. Plays the sweeper role to near perfection and was once again fantastic today. Could be leading our B&F right now.
1. Perrie - Was going to give it to Mattner, but Ian's constant work-rate, determination and ability to set up goals was very good today.

Best Team Man
3. Perrie - see above.
2. Mattner - Deserved POTY votes but I needed to put him somewhere. Once again his tackling was a real feature and was impressive despite a few costly errors.
1. Bassett - Was once again fantastic today. Covers his team-mates when they are in doubt, lays the spoils and does all the hard stuff.

Rookie of the Year
Rutten - Played a great first 3 quarters before giving Rocca a bit of a sniff of it, but overall his performance was very solid. Provided some great run from Full Back and used his footy brain to excellence at times.

5. Simon Goodwin - he is having a great season after being starved of footy in recent times - those 2nd and 4th 1/4's were terrific - kept Harvey quiet when he was on him too - apart from also coping with Sainsbury as well!
4. Hayden Skipworth - 4 goals that were the difference in the end - and getting better around the ground.
3. Scott Thompson - I really like this bloke - getting better and will get better too.
2. Graham Johncock - was terrific early - did die out a bit.
1. Nathan Bassett - did a lot of good work early - and was trying all day.

TM
3. Bassett - see above -and other comments
2. Perrie - see Stiffy's comments
1. Biglands - thought he was having a ret hot go all day for the team.

HM to Reilly and Mattner for their desperation and work ethic

R
1. Rutten - did a good job on Sav I thought -had a few touches too

5 - Simon Goodwin - A toss-up between him, Thompson and Skippy for best, but he did play a beauty and showed just how much we have missed his run drive and penetrating kicks when injured in the last couple of years. His blood's worth bottling!!

4 - Scott Thompson - What a pick-up. Just what the doctor ordered. A hard tough nut that goes where angels fear to tread, keeps his feet in the contest, and chases and tackles harder than a debt collector. He's a beauty!!

3 - Hayden Skipworth - Starting to come of age and that performance will do him the world of good as far as self-belief is concerned. Match-winning performance with his 4 goals.

2 - Nathan Bassett - Another terrific game from Bass, who has been like a dog let off a leash since Rutten took over full back. Minds his man, other players' man, any man that's in the area. Spoiling beautifully and running out of defence well.

1 - Ian Perrie - Playing the role that he's been asked to do, which is not dissimilar to that which Robran played in days of old - good days!! :) Presents himself well and winning more than his share of the contested ball.

Best Team Man

3 - Ian Perrie - See above

2 - Nathan Bassett - See Above

1 - Marty Mattner - Worked his arse off, and just missed my best players. Looks more like a senior player these days than a young lad on the rise. Was robbed of the winning goal by the white maggots.

Rookie

Rutten - Happy with his job on Rocca who can destroy a team on his day. Did his share of clearances as well and is a thinking footballer, using the ball well.

Top job from the coaching panel, who bounced back after an ordinary game by them against the Bulldogs. Craig countered every move that Laidley threw at him - which is probably why Laidley spat the dummy. A very good preparation by them for this game. 9/10
