Sorry everyone, had to deal with some stuff off-site, last few days didn't go according to what I had in mind. HoF will be tomorrow evening.

**** I've only posted once in this thread over the course of this season... I'm worse than The Filth Wizard was in Season 21.

Hey folks,

I'm finally back at Noobz0r's old desk cleaning off the dust that's been collected while I've fallen asleep at the wheel over the course of this season. Round 17 has just concluded so finals matchups have been determined. I'd like to once again thank Ljp86 for his prompt work and Broken for the innovative idea to provide quarter by quarter live updates on the ladder and Fred Medal chase. There's a number of matters to get through so I'll touch on each fairly quickly.

Hall of Fame
At this stage the ceremony is planned to happen on the 20th of November (Tuesday night) where we'll be inducting two more members of the Hall of Fame and immortalising another. In a discussion with some of the current Hall of Famers the idea of a specialised Hall of Fame committee to run the process was brought up. It hasn't been implemented as of yet, but it's something that could be looked at next season where captains who aren't the most experienced in terms of the league's history could nominate a club veteran to discuss nominations and inductees.

Club Badges
This was suggested a few weeks ago to have a badge for each club in order to help identify who plays for who. They've been designed (https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/club-badges.1208364/) and to my knowledge Chief has ticked them off so we could see this implemented. Expect it to be done next season after all the player movements have been completed.

All SFA Nominations
I think this will largely work the same way as last season when we had a maximum of 5 nominations per club with at least one nomination in each of defence, mid, forward. This season I'm thinking of further extending that to 6 nominations per club with the added option of nominating someone as a utility (for players who had significant stints in multiple positions). The presentation will still involve a 30-player extended squad named a week prior to Mobbs night and the final team being named on Mobbs Night.

State of Origin
In the last few days we've seen a surge in the demand for the return of SoO. This will be given serious consideration and I hope that we can get much of the planning done over the next month. It's still early days with no state so far having the numbers to fill a team, but the enthusiasm is encouraging. I had some chats regarding SoO earlier in the season with Tarkyn_24 and Frankston Rover. The major issues identified regarding the initial downfall of the comp were:
- a loss of prestige with some zero game rookies being given spots - partly due to too many teams
- and people hopping from state to state each year ruining the concept's legitimacy

At this moment a four state competition seems to be the most logical to keep selection competitive as its a representative format and allows it to be run as a 2-3 week carnival. I'd like to set up a specialised State of Origin committee with a good mix of veterans who played in SoO and prominent current day posters who are passionate about the concept to put everything together. Depending on how productive we are we could look at some trial games in the week after finals or potentially during to set it up in full pre-season next year.

That's all for now, best of luck to all the teams in finals and hope its an exciting award season coming up.
No, need to have at least 5 teams for SoO. Dog.

I figured you were waiting on Frankie to respond to his induction before you could proceed. Hope all is well btw.

Hey gang,

We're now less than two weeks away from the grand final and there's going to be a lot happening over the next couple of weeks so I'll give a quick update on a few things. Firstly, I'll be collecting votes for the Beez which is the award for best posting contributor for each season. For those that are new and do not know how it works, the basic explanation is that from each of the twelve clubs captains will nominate 5 posters from their club who have been active consistently over the course of the season and involved in a variety of aspects of the league; media, match threads, other work to maintain the league etc. and these posters will give a list of 20 of their top contributors for the season. The rankings will be aggregated and what we end up with is an MVP as decided by a cross-section of the league, JoshWoodenSpoon was the winner in Season 25. I'll be sending out PMs with specific instructions to those the captains have nominated soon and start collecting. In terms of the All-SFA, that is currently being discussed and as it occurred last season we will be releasing an extended squad of 30 prior to Mobbs Night and then the final team will be released on the night.

In regards to plan after the season, I'll also be putting up a SoO expression of interest thread that will contain a sign-up form to fill out your preferred state soon. This is something to track some numbers early and assess how many people are interested in the concept, the size of the player pool for each prospective state, how many teams the series can have. I had a chat with some veterans along with some newer players the length of the series should not be over 3 weeks long and will be treated seriously with presentations for captain appointments and I hope to arrange cup badges for winners. I haven't decided when exactly the SoO reboot will occur, at this stage the most likely time is pre-season before S27. Around this time, we should have a charity fundraiser event for Alzheimer's research which is really cool, BRAB is planning to organise this, more details when the time comes.

That should make for quite an eventful off-season so hopefully we do see a lot of people checking in earlier next year and getting involved. To everyone I hope that you're following the upcoming awards presentations and to those teams in finals, good luck for the rest of this season.

Hi folks,

And so another season came to an end. I'd like to once again congratulate Yakker on leading the Mount Buller Demons to the minor premiership and then a record win in the grand final along with FinBar19 on kicking 11 goals in a legendary performance. Cheers to everyone that put in the work across the season to help it run from week to week, the guys in the simming team NaturalDisaster , Doctor Gero , Hate , JoshWoodenSpoon and also a massive thank you to Loonerty who has stepped down from his role as simmer at the end of this past season after 3 seasons of service. Furthermore, thanks to everyone that put in substantial efforts in statistics and maintaining history in the archives; Ant Bear , Hate (again), Cadaver , Ljp86 and Broken. Appreciate all the work that you guys put in.

Season 26 has been another success (whereby success under my watch is defined as a state where the Sweet FA is not a burning pile of rubble at the conclusion of any given season) thanks to some really engaged rookies, not only notable ones like Barrybran, Cadaver and Nunez but others who have flown under the radar a bit like TheInjuryFactory , Jivlain , grumbleguts, Sab22 just to name a few. We've also seen a bit of a renaissance from many veterans of the league which is always nice and the likes of Noobz0r and BRAB stirring up a dose of controversy in the media which makes for interesting reading.

Okay so what now?

The Beez Trophy presentation is the next major event, and that will occur on January 4th, 2019 whereby the Season 26 most valuable poster as voted on by active members of each team will be revealed.

After that we will be taking the State of Origin reboot to the next step by officially announcing the captains of each state. I will confirm now that the 2019 series will be played during the latter half of January and 5 state representative teams will be competing:
- Vic Metro
- Vic Country
- WA
- SA
- Allies
The captains for each state team have been selected by me and we're simply at the stage of preparing official presentations. Soon after they have been announced the appointed state captains will appoint vice-captains of their own choosing, and select and coordinate their team over the following week. The likely format will be a round robin tournament that is followed by a grand final between the top 2 that will take place over 2-3 weeks.

Additionally, there's also going to be a charity fundraiser for dementia research happening around this time (BRAB will prepare more details when appropriate) so January will be a very eventful month and it's going to be a busy offseason.

Also something to be aware of is the Bigfooty site will be seeing a major software update between 26th December 2018, and 1st January 2019.

This will mean that posts made between these dates will be sucked into the void so if you have a big media thread idea planned, or a major announcement/event coming up make sure that you post it outside of this period so that you don't lose it. I won't be making any major public announcements during this time.

That will be all for now, I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Be sure to stay safe over the holiday season and take care of yourself. Hopefully, I'll see you all again in 2019 and we start the new year off with bang. :christmastree::santa::partypooper:
