It's a tricky one, it's/its. It catches me out occasionally. It looks as though it should be 'it's' because it's defining ownership of the word 'word'. But if you extend it out to it's logical conclusion it means 'it is'. Which it's not.

Yep, it's only "it's" when it's a contraction.

I went tech.
Didn't learn anything there and I haven't come here to learn anything either.

So all you do gooders stay out of my way.

So there
Stop being such a grump. We're not do-gooders', just anal-retentive grammar police.

And you forgot to put an exclamation mark at the end of 'So there'.

:D

Sneakily dropping the required hyphen into do-gooders while you are at it? Nice.

I edit and proofread for a living. Here, I do try to relax. How much I mind the grammar/typo/spelling issues tends to correlate with how much I agree with what's being said. As far as I can make it out, sometimes.

There's nothing in this world that can't be improved by a bit of sneaky hyphenating.

I think you have my dream job, H2h. :)

This explains why I would see a typo in one of your posts as often as I would see a blue moon, Hearts.

Also, have you seen the Seinfeld episode where Elaine puts a heap of exclamation points into an author's manuscript? Very funny.

If you ever see one, it will be my phone's fault. I never make a mistake.

Both parents of mine are ex english and history teachers. My mum's the ex english teacher. So when I was at school both of my parents would help me with my studies. Hence the reason why my spelling and grammar are correct.
If I ever had trouble with spelling my mum would be pretty strict and made me work on my spelling.
What made things worse at school was my old man being the principal of the whole school. So I had the pressure on me to do well all the time.
I didn't get to make many friends. I think Dad being there scared them away a little. Also at the start of each year I would be asked the same questions about having my dad there. "Are you the principal's daughter?" In the end I had to go to dad and ask him what should I do. He told me to be as honest as I can. So the answer they got was "yes I am. Do you have an issue with that?". They then would quieten down. However, if any of them were in trouble I would actually look out for them.
So that's what my secondary school life was like.

Exclamation mark? Is that like a Wayne Carey mark

Anal-retentive? Zondor is the man that can help you out. :p

Can I presume both parents would correct the first sentence? I'm not sure if they both taught English and History or if it was only your dad.

Aaron Black will be the master of the exclamation mark in 2014 while JZ looks after the full stops.

Can see there will be a few here pleased if we draft the hyphen, JKH.

An umpire banned, eh?

Now that's something I reckon you just don't see enough of.
I'm still waiting on the umpire band, with a heavy duty Wild Cherry influence.

Blow that funky whistle fluro boy.

Yeah.<_>

They'd play flutes and finger cymbals and all want to be the lead singer.
