I cannot imagine that any Club that wants Danger has not put a contract in front of him. He knows he is worth millions to the Cats, probably the Pies too in Victoria. The Hawks may be a little tight but Im sure their contract is probably still a big one.

The question that has to be asked, is that he knows exactly what he is getting from the big Victorian Clubs and he knows what we are offering. Hell Port may have even offered him a contract for shits and giggles. So what is he really waiting for?????

Danger is probably going to test what the Club is like in 2015, its brutal but next years performance by the Club will determine if he signs on or not. He is definitely testing what the football landscape is like now at West Lakes. He is going from a coach in 2014 that adored him to a coach in 2015 that treats him potentially as an equal to all other players. (which incidentally is the way it should be). The more I think about this, the more I think that if he signs on, it wont be till well into 2015, hell it may even be at the end of the AFL season. I do not believe he will sign a contract before the halfway mark of the season.

Its going to be terrible period for us supporters to have opposition supporters (not to mention the self imploding) and the media bait us with troll comments about Danger not signing.

This is only just the beginning. We have not seen anything yet. Its going to get a lot worse.

A friend of mine had a catch up with a Crows player the other week as he does some work for him. I asked if he could ask him a couple of questions and one was did he think Danger would re-sign. His reply was "I honestly couldnt call it."
This player has been first 22 for the last couple of years and he doesnt have a good feel with it. Thats not good if his team mates dont have the belief he will stay.

I know a couple players who thought Kurt and Gunston would stay, and another who said they were both gone. Some guys have a better read on things than others but I reckon players here might think glass half empty given the last few years here.

Why should he assume the offers will remain static? The longer he waits, more higher those offers are likely to be. And in the mean time he is able to assess his situation more closely.

Because the offers most likely will remain static.

Clubs would absolutely be aware of their salary cap commitments for the next 3 years and with a player of Dangerfields calibre - be exactly aware of how much they can afford to pay him.

You don't haggle with a player like Dangerfield entering free agency. You find out how much he wants (through his agent) and you see if you can make it happen.

Yeah, I've quoted that from Danger before too - he was talking about getting Tippet to sign on like he did ... and it reminds me of people who talk about how they will raise their kids when they get around to having them.

Huh? He was talking about why he signed. Stating that his decision to sign mid-season rather than wait till the end of the year was the best move for him and was a 'club first decision'.

Whether he likes it or not - he is doing the exact opposite of what he did in 2012. He is putting himself before the club and allowing speculation and distraction to set in. He is not doing what is best for the AFC.

Now - Its his choice and I completely understand why he would hold off to get the best deal for himself (shit - i would probably do the same). I am not having a crack at him for that. I am just saying that it completely contradicts his motives and reasons for re-signing in 2012. He is not putting the club first.

It has more to do with every player been asked in every interview, the coach having to answer the same questions at every press conference, Danger been stalked by the media for the whole season, and the only time our club gets mentioned in the media is about Danger staying or leaving. You would have to be a knob of the highest order to not think this is undesirable in the extreme.

Absolutely they will. Dangerfield isn't going to say I want 1.1 million and then teams come back at $850,000. If he is leaving he knows his price, his manager knows his price and every team that wants him knows whether they can pay this price under the salary cap.

You don't go in with your maximum offer, because what do you do if he is undecided? You can't offer any more than you already have.

And if he accepts it, and you do the same with every player, then you've got no money left.
