You would have to be a knob of the highest order to not think this is undesirable in the extreme.

When did I mention that he should sign to make it easier for me? YOU need to re-read the post again at no stage did I state that or imply that. Thats really weird for you to say. Ridiculous in my opinion.
In fact if I was Dangerfield and thinking selfishly I would wait till the last possible moment to extract every dollar from the next arguably biggest contract of his life.
From a Club perspective, we have seen in the past what this does to a Club and the impact that it has in delaying contract negotiations.
Its going to be terrible period for us supporters to have opposition supporters (not to mention the self imploding) and the media bait us with troll comments about Danger not signing.
This is only just the beginning. We have not seen anything yet. Its going to get a lot worse.
Great post. You just owned him then.![]()

Boys! Boys! You'll have to be separated!Sometimes I wonder if you are just joking around with some of your strange positions on things
You are now arguing an entirely different point.
Let's recap shall we?
I said:
You replied with some examples of players that had signed on early:
I said we shouldnt expect him to sign just because your examples did:
Then somehow you showing examples shows that we should expect it:
I said why not - and didn't miss Tex out on purpose, you can add him in if you like it doesn't change my point:
Now you are arguing that it is not unreasonable to expect Dangerfield to sign, because it's an entirely normal thing to do:
I think you may be just stirring? Or your logic would also be ok with Woody Allen's classic:
“All men are mortal. Socrates was mortal. Therefore, all men are Socrates.”
I just can't see how that will work though.
Again, using Geelong as an example, we match it and then try to trade Dangerfield. Dangerfield can just decline any other club we try and get a trade with and Geelong are hardly going to put up anything much more than we'd receive given the cost they'd be paying to get him as a 'free agent' and could again do so once he goes to draft assuming they have a pick before ours (the only thing that stops that from working for any club/player in that situation).

And it goes the other way as well ...I think it's amusing that in this thread Danger not signing is no cause for alarm, and in another, Aish not signing is cause for considerable hope
Yeah this is precisely my view. I'll hold off on joining the skirt lifters until round 6 or so.The difference with Dangerfield compared to Hawkins is that we're venturing into the unknown with a new coach whereas Hawkins knows exactly what Geelong have to offer.
My read on it is that Dangerfield would prefer to stay here but wants to make sure the previous level of incompetence has been eradicated.

Even with media events, who'd initiate a scaling back? Danger because he knows he's leaving? The club because they know he's unsigned?Have been wondering what it'd look like if he had already decided to leave. Withdrawal from media events? Or would he just keep it close to his chest and not indicate this to the club? If the club already knew he was likely leaving what would their response be?
Heard from a mate today, he doesn't know Danger, knows no one who does and even he doesn't know what Dangers going to do.

Now that he knows I've revealed all on a public forum I doubt he will be so open in the futureIs he likely to know Danger in the future and if so, will he keep you updated?

I would offer $1.1m. As stiffy18 has said you accept what you think you are worth. PD may not quibble over $100,000 but he would , without knowing him, feel undervalued at $800,000 - $900,000.Walsh has already said 'you don't win premierships paying one player $1.2m', I'm ok with us taking that position.
If someone offers him a massive contract and he leaves, so be it.
We'll offer him a fair contract, he can take it and shoot at a flag with his mates, or not.
I heard that he or his management won't even be looking at a contract (from the crows) until August next year.
