Well we should have the answer of which way they want to go in this year's trade period. Rance, Riewoldt and Martin are the only 3 I would have as untouchable. I'd listen to offers for any other player.

Time will tell but I'm not sure your club agrees with you. Seems as though they think they're a whole lot better off than most do looking in.

I agree with you re: Rance, Riewoldt and Martin but I'd probably add Cotchin to that list as well.

He's well down on his best form at the moment but I think you have to back him in to recapture that best form. He's also your captain and I just don't see trading him as being a great move for the club. When was the last time a captain was traded? We saw Griffen a few years back but he wanted out of the Dogs so it's not really comparable.

Hanging your hat on regular season results from the last 3 years, when you failed to win a final against any side that even finished top 7, is pretty desperate.

Look below, Richmond are good for the occasional 4-9th finish, generally every 4 or 5 years, but otherwise, it's just mediocre.

Given about 12 teams are aiming to win a final in 2017 I'd say Dimma is just saying his piece. Means nothing.
Can the tigers do it? For sure. Will they? Who knows.
Pretty much the same squad that made finals for 3 years, and should be better with recruits (hope so this year), and some good youngsters coming through, and injuries going away. So there abouts for talent. But, the team has been soft and the match day coaching poor in finals. Big changes need to happen in mental attitude and how the team is coached.

No it will be because of Rioli, Markov, Short, Menadue, C.Ellis, Castagna, Lennon, Marcon etc
Those players will improve the bottom 6 of our 22 and some even move up to the middle tier, which has been one of our biggest problem.

apparently they are all duds, and have no potential, hence we need a full rebuild..

- go to the draft as a fallback position

Acquisitions need to benefit us in the longer term. Cloke doesn't do that. He's suited to a team who'll contend in 2017.

Mate it's clear as day Richmond needs a new coach and direction. Their list looks bad because Dimma has them playing the worst brand of football this side of Freo. Just look at Carlton and the Bulldogs to see how quickly a team can turn around with a fresh start.

Mate it's clear as day Richmond needs a new coach and direction.

Well it's not going to happen in the short term; that much has been obvious from a long way out. He's been promoting kids, i.e. not in self-preservation mode. The members would be mortified if the club put a match to $1m after being bailed out twice, hence I encourage the board challenge to proceed. A few need to be shaken out of their trees, for awarding the two-year extension alone. "The Richmond way" isn't cutting it.

Agree that even the maximum possible off-field gains will go to waste without good coaching. Hardwick's not diabolically bad but has coached the team into a corner and IMO needs help to coach them out again. Situation's not irredeemable but the next few months is a critical period for the club.

Having said that, if a viable playing style isn't evident in the first month of 2017, I hope Hardwick is told it's his last season.

With Yarran, they've already executed a horrible trade.

They basically gave up last year's pick 19 for absolutely nothing. If they had waited until this post-season to acquire Yarran, they could have gotten him for nothing as a free agent. Instead, they gave up a decent pick for a player who played 0 games in the season following the trade.

Now of course the Tigers could not have envisioned Yarran missing all of 2016, but in hindsight it was an absolute clanger of a trade.

By 'critical analysis' you mean 'look only at age' as if it is the be all and end all

Never mind he had the worst forward line in the league to star.t with, has had a complete lack of decent senior KPP's (Rowe, Jamison, Casboult...lol), and was widely tipped (despite the age of the list!!) to be competing with the suspension affected Bombers for the spoon.

But because our average age is 25 years and 2 months or something instead of 24 years and 6 months Bolton can't coach
